I loved the male Shaman and what he and Grunt represented.

Me too, and you can include Okeer, and even pre amnesia Wrex, as they were all kind of directed at the same overarching goal (overcoming the Genophage). That whole angle on the krogan narrative got dropped with the pro cure propaganda bent of ME3. Grunt's whole purpose is reduced to just to smashing things and giggling as comic relief.

I think it's because Brian Kindregan left (he wrote all of the main Krogan in ME2.. including Jack and Samara, until Weekes took over).. and all that was left from Tuchanka was Weekes..who had his Mordin story. Which was cool, but only one side..

Can't Quote atm but the comments from Straykat and QMR is how I felt about it. It's the role I'd like to see the females take on. Bakara showed off a wiser, more spiritual side to the Krogan that could be expanded on and not once did she walk away from what it was to be Krogan while doing it.

Okeer was probably the greatest Krogan they ever came up with, would have loved to have arrived on Tuchanka to find him in charge. A merciless, methodical thinker and  Krogan.

If the genophage is cured, great because having an army of krogan willing to fight for you is like walking into a gun fight with 1000 tanks. So combine that with asari commandos, and well mankind's n7 and we'd have a good chance of entering andromeda and not being pwned the moment we arrive.

If not, great because it'd be one less species to beat into submission when inevitably mankind becomes galactic overlords of andromeda. <--- my bets on this because we all know it's going to happen. ME is basically mankind is top dawg & every other species is aight I guess simulator.

So, the current theory is that the ARK leaves before any of the choices are made in ME3, which would make sense. I'm not sure whether or not this has been addressed, but if that's the case, the Krogan in ME:A will not be cured of the Genophage. Will we have to endure even more drama about the cruelness/necessity of the Genophage? What do you think?

Frankly, I believe the ARK left just before the Reapers arrived. So, all the choices were made.

Double frankly, Bios is better off not mentioning the G word in Andromeda, thus avoiding the mess they made with the ending. My choice was to destroy the cure.

Easy enough to write around that if Bio wants. Cure or fake cure, the krogan involved in the Ark project weren't on Tuchanka and didn't receive it. Works best with an Ark departure that had to be improvised a bit ahead of schedule, of course, unless krogan breed so fast that the other races wouldn't take fully-fertile krogan on the mission.

Okeer's plan wasn't really a plan though. A single krogan might inspire the others (putting aside the fact Grunt's nature would've had him killed on sight without Shepard, and even if Okeer was alive things might not have beeen that different, since he was fairly hated).

I didn't cure the Genophage. I felt pushed into the situation, and I thought keeping it there would be the best thing for the galaxy. Also renegade.

Realistically I don't think there will ever be a world with the Krogan that doesn't feature some sort of population control whether man made (Genophage) or an extreme natural occurrence (Tuchanka being a hell hole). I guess they could retcon how extreme Krogan reproduction is, and I wouldn't mind it if it meant we got to explore new issues regarding the Krogan since I'm kind of sick of the Genophage.

We will probably find out in this rumored new book.  It will setup the timeline and explain the events.  I hope the genophage is cured, but the Krogan forget the teachings of Wrex and revert back to their old ways... OR they totally accept Wreav and his teachings, and run with that.

I'm guessing the ark will leave before the Tuchanka quest line in ME3, but the Krogan that come with the ark won't bring it up.

I agree with this, regardless the actual moment the Ark leaves.

There's still some questions about Quarians and/or Geths. I guess the book wlll reveal if some species are left back without any rapresentative in Andromeda.

Well, if the trip only takes 300 years, give or take, they could put either the males or the females in cryo sleep.  That way they wouldn't be breeding out of control.  Plus, I'm thinking that no matter which way it goes down, they are going to have the cure on board.  Whether you decided to save or trick the krogan.

I'm thinking that krogans will multiply by exponential amounts once we're there...  And the last scene of the game will be, "We're here...  Let's show those bastards what the krogan can do!"

And then boom...   The krogan will finally have their moment.

Huh.  Head canon is fun.

Yes, Okeer was among my favourite krogan, along with Fortack. Menace with a mind is a lot more intimidating than one dimensional brutes like Wreav, and I'd like them to go that sort of direction with future krogan.

I heard Fortack had gotten in contact with Xen to help design some real ground pounders, but it's just rumor.

That wouldn't make any sense. It's already confirmed that our leaving won't be after the reaper war considering there is no Canon ending. If they go that way then your play through was an insignificant waste of time. That's not going to happen. And the book will happen. It's not like bioware to leave us in the dark.

Consider the fact that in some play throughs it wasn't cured at all. Then what was the point of killing mordin or padok. There will be no Canon. I got my money on no cure. Even though my Shepard cured it somebody else's didn't. Who knows though, maybe before game bioware will ask us about certain choices we made in ME.

I'm just wondering what the book will mean for the game. If the book bridges the gap and depending on how you interpret the talk, so does the ride. So are we already established to some extent when the game begins?

@Op for me if the Krogan still have the Genophage it means the ARK may have left for reasons that have nothing to do with the reapers.

We might be 'established' in Andromeda, as we already arrived/Started preparations for it, like building colony ships or stuff like this (if the MW species won't arrive in Andromeda with multiple ships. It's all vague at this point).

The book might explain how the project of Andromeda started/the start of the voyage.

The genophage won't be cured, the Ark leaves before Shepard makes that choice. Why? Because the whole reason ME:A is set in a new galaxy, is the fact the game won't interfere with choices people made in the original trilogy. So they can't ignore this one either.

Still I think it's strange that the council races would take Krogan along on a trip to Andromeda. The Salarians would surely veto the idea. Some more thoughts about this, I penned down here.

My guess in order to bypass all of that they will likely be like Grunt, a genetically modified krogan.

I'm going to say, no.

And I have a few reasons why that nobody will agree with as usual. (Fun isn't it?)

1. If theories about the ARK being the Citadel like artwork are correct then the Krogan would breed everyone else into extinction either by direct execution or starvation. Water will also be a factor, having 5000 kids to feed in a single family is going to lead to a lot of flushing, showering and other forms of consumption.

2. Unleashing the Krogan on Andromeda would be like unleashing the indoctrinated Rachni that led to the Krogan being uplifted in the first place and there is no plan B that doesn't involve bringing in an even more dangerous species to put them down again. (Other than another genocidal bioweapon of mass destruction.) So it makes little sense to bring them as they're as likely to wipe you out as the people you intend to use them against.

3. It's already stated, there is no canon ending. Cured Krogan would fly in the face of that, it would mean no matter what path you chose Shepard always cured the Genophage or worse, always chose Synthesis and the Krogan cured themselves.

4. Leaving after the Tuchanka TL makes little sense unless its immediately after the Citadel coup, when the cure hasn't been dispersed to all Krogan yet. After that point the Galaxy is rapidly falling, exit paths toward relays are being blocked and all available resources are now being focused on the Crucible.

5. Leaks, tweets and other comments by devs leave me thinking the Krogan haven't changed one bit. Think of the vid showing that Krogan with a gas canister giggling while the human dies. Curing them means a returns to the horde, that would mean the Krogan replace the Reapers as the near unkillable super race.

If it does happen they'll have to wipe the old Krogan off the whiteboard and start over with a slightly less invincible and more happy go lucky Krogan male.

OT: How do people feel about Krogan females being the only ones in the galaxy capable of kicking the Krogan males backsides? They could be bigger, stronger, smarter and have them completely whipped? The Horde would be at their beck and call don't mess with them or they'll let the dogs off the leash.

I'm with you for the most part, but I'm not so sure the Krogan are real big on showering...or flushing

Ha!

But yeah. Sharing an ark you'd think they'd make us.

Tevos: It is a condition of the council, that if the Krogan are to accompany us on such a long journey they must shower.

Wrex: Good, I always wanted a sponge bath from Shaira.

*Tevos turns to Sparatus.*

Sparatus: If the Krogan are getting sponge baths we'd like expert female Quarian technicians on our ships, in case anything goes wrong.

Valern: This isn't a negotiation it's an exodus, we're fleeing our home worlds in fear of the reapers!

Tevos: And if the Krogan want to come they will agree to bathe.

Sparatus: And if, once we're aboard the Ark vessel they suddenly decide they don't want to anymore?

Valern: Its a risk we may have to take.

*Wrex sniffs his underarms*

Tevos: (sigh)
