I personally always found her extremely rude and annoying, the exact kind of person that thinks everyone should be insignificant and submitted to everything she desires, and those are some of the reasons explaining why I always hated her.

But I saw a lot of people that actually loves her, thinking that she is powerful and fearless, the perfect example of "Girl Power".

Now what about you guys? do you love her or hate her?

For a secondary character, I think she's pretty interesting and the PC can "play off" of in several different ways.  She's not universally "good" or "bad" and can be played up in several different ways (particularly during the Omega DLC in ME3) depending on the sort of dialogue the player selects for Shepard and what actions he/she can take at the end of that DLC.  Also, her dialogue in the Purgatory Bar in ME3 can be quite humorous depending on when Shepard opts to talk with her.

I'm leaning towards dislike. At the end of the day, as the ruler - appointed or not - she has a duty to the people of Omega to make the station a better place. But she doesn't. She only focuses on herself. There are times that I like her, especially at the end of the Omega DLC, but most of the time I don't like her. However, it is always nice to have another strong character for my renegade femshep to challenge.

Agree with N7Penguin i always roll a renegade femshep so having her interact with aria is fun particularly in the Omega dlc when I break even being a renegade and paragon and she seems confused by shepard xD

With people like Jack and Aria, it's fun to have a renegade femshep. When you have two women who could be described as incredibly... bitchy in a kind of confrontation. Those are the funniest moments for me. To be fair, it goes for everyone, not just females. The end of the Omega DLC where Aria kisses Shepard is one of the few moments that I like the character. My headcanon is basically that they're basically in competition with each other constantly, and getting into confrontations each other. In the Omega DLC, it's basically like they've agreed on a truce. :P So yeah, that's like one of the only times I like Aria.

"Girl power".. is so 90s.

Aria T'Loak is an Asari Matriarch who ruled Omega with an iron fist, who have powerful people in all the right places including the Asari councilors at beck and call. She is also the first person of power who offer you support for your fight against the Reapers so I do value her as an ally. My Shep aren't that insecure to handle one ruthless female dictator or to let herself being used by her either so they don't exactly trust one another but each recognize their own power and level of influences.

I do so love Aria and she's still by far the most complex well-written character Mac Walters came up with ever since he took the helm from Karpyshynn. Although I didn't quite like the inconsistency between Karpyshynn novel and her comics and games especially the part where Kai Leng murdered her daughter and how this isn't mentioned on anything outside the novel. But considering Asari's lifespan, I guess a child is disposable to them.

Might I suggest then that you try playing Shepard as more of a renegade once... it's pretty harsh to be judging the entirety of the possible depth of the secondary characters in the series when you're so greatly limiting the possibility of generating some different "depths" in the player character (by ALWAYS playing Shep as a paragon).  The "personalities" of the NPCs can seem to change as their lines change to respond to different lines being selected for Shepard combined with the overall P/R trend Shepard has to that point in the game.

I found her interesting and compelling. My Shep was a goody-two-shoes at heart, which lead to her and Aria having entertaining chemistry. Beyond the little snipes back and forth, there was a mutual respect. She's probably the only ME character I consider an "equal" to Shepard. Just like my mage Warden and Morrigan.

Aria is the only person I can remember who just helps Shepard without asking for anything in return.  I remember getting to Omega and being told to meet her I thought she was going to give me some quest, but other then a quick talk about not messing up the station she tells shepard what s/he needs to find his/her recruits without asking for anything in return.  And if you help her out with the mercs and what not she will pay you back with intel and supplies.  That one of the most powerful people outside of council space is willing to just talk to me, help me, give me free drinks after I kill her bartender, or let me delve into her past is just really nice when everyone else wants something from you.

And in ME3 when my shep gets drunk at the bar when everything becomes just a little to much it nice to know she doesn't mind be passing out and sloppering all over the couch next to her.  Always felt like she was watching out for me when I couldn't look after myself.

people tend to be rude to people that are not being educated with them.

Renegade Shep is ridiculously uneducated, only fighting for the "greater good" and never for the people he/she care for.

A male renegade Shepard comes off as uneducated. A female renegade Shepard comes off as awesome.

Then might I suggest that you try blending - a Renagon through the Omega DLC works very well with Aria (IMO, of course).  Also, I thought we were really just talking about how Aria, as a secondary character, can be influenced/changed by how Shepard is changed... making her a fairly "deeply written" secondary character overall.  I've done several play throughs and yet still continue to be able to "construct" Shepard with different personalities (within some limitations of course).  I naturally have some Shepards I've liked more than others... but I'm not really a person who has to play a Shepard that I personally like... I enjoy discovering just how differently I can make each one and how the other characters in the game react differently to him/her each time.  I'm still discovering lines I haven't heard in previous playthroughs.

Both are douchebags, despite the fact that I love the scenes where Shep punches Al-Jilani in the face...

She was more interesting in ME2 with all those Aleena hints, her largely unknown past and her number one rule, as well as soloing a krogan and ripping out his hearts lol. Haven't read the comics yet but in the books she and the Illusive Man were portrayed as equals, which really let her seem like an extremely powerful and influantial figure in the universe.

Sitting around in Purgatory later was understandable but kind of weird for her not to take any action by herself. Omega dlc Aria was ok but she often seemed to suffer from plot stupidity and she wasn't much of a better fighter than any other of your squad mates after all (ok this was gameplay but she didn't do anything too impressive during cutscenes either). Nyreen/Aria was interesting but well... you know

I was surprised at the love for Aria as to me she didn't stand out too much.  She's fine, but very selfish, and there are many more characters in the franchise that interested me than her.

Perhaps for some of her fans her popularity stems from those who wanted to sleep with an asari but disliked Liara.  Aria represents everything she isn't so they're lusting after her instead.

And for the rest, well, what everyone else in the post says.  She's an intriguing woman with a lot of power that never quite gets the attention she deserves in the actual trilogy itself.

Personally I'd like to have "Just who do you think. You. Are?" as an answer to her most known quote, even as Paragon. Such an ego for a queen of trash hive, it's laughable. Actually Aria herself is okay as a character, it's Shepard's shy attitude with her which annoys me.

I like her for the same reason I like Samara : they have a real design and look different from all the other asari "clones" (Even Liara looks very common to me :/ ). Also Aria has a really badass personality, I respect her for that ^^ Strong women <3

Of course, how can you not like Trinity?

Also she's not a squishy Asari like Liara.

Well, she owns an entire system,a private army and is very influent among other important people,so I don't know if it would be wise to defy or disrespect her.

Although,Shepard is never afraid or shy when talking to the Illusive Man,so there is no reason for him/her to fear Aria...
