I have plenty of saves for different moments I love, so I totally support your proposition.

(I'm currently using a notepad where I'm writting everything about my games).

Definitely! I've been wanting this too for a very long time. Sadly a lot of games lack this option, it's not just ME or DA. It would help tremendously though, especially because I often forget when and where I made a particular save due to short term memory problems I have because of a condition, I'd love this option, it would help me out SO MUCH!

Totally agree. :)

Something most of my RPGs pack unfortunately. I wouldn't be opposed to the idea.

I'm totally for this as my own short-term memory also can't remember the default names.

It's do-able in the PC version of DA:O so I name my saves 'before Landsmeet' or whatever at specific points in the game, but I would like it in all ME and DA games.

So, BioWare fangirl confession here, I use a spreadsheet for all the games to mark my decisions and write a little bio about each of my characters.  In DAI I was romancing Bull and wanted the option to be able to go back to those scenes, so I wrote the time code on the spreadsheet of all the saves just before the romance cutscenes so I could quickly access them (and not accidently delete them, I hit the 250 saves on one playthrough  ).

It's a pain in the butt, and it's way easier to just rename stuff, but it works.

I sometimes wish I'd made different choices too, being able to go back to the exact moment I made a crucial choice and replay it a different way it great.  I can experience it and change it in the Keep or ME gibbed save editor, when it's not technically part of my overall save.

So anyway yes, yes, and yes.  Also don't cap the saves BioWare.  <_<

Could this be implemented on consoles? I have no idea how that sort of thing works..

I like the idea. I currently write the save down in a notebook depending on the playthrough I'm doing

They should be able to do something... after all Minecraft saves can be named and renamed on the Xbox 360... as well as being able to copy them over to USBs.  Not sure if it works differently on the Xbox One though.

I'm with you for sure. DA:I's save file system was a huge mess.

Here's DA2. The save files are nicely organized by character. I also could name the saves as well:
Spoiler

I don't have access to my PC at the moment, but I found saves from NWN OC and freaking BG2 that were organized by character as well. So what did we get for DA:I? This crap:
Spoiler

The only way to figure out which character is which is by looking at the last seven characters in the save file. I was pretty furious about that and it's one of the few things in DA:I that really upset me. They've been able to do it with every other game since 1998. There is no excuse for that level of chaos and disorganization for either platform.

Oh and let console players name their saves too. They should be able to label their own saves if they want. It doesn't strike me as it would be that difficult to do.

This has been discussed many a times before. It's still a good idea. But, i think the game suffers from consolitis where naming a saved game is not an option given to the player.

Frankly, I am sick unto death of consoles always getting blamed for this kind of thing.

It would NOT be difficult to implement this for consoles; it's not like my Xbox doesn't have the ability to call up virtual keyboard.  It's developer laziness that causes this, not the console's existence.

I looked at your screenshots thinking 'that must be wrong, I'll go check mine' and whaddya know?  You're right, my bad.

The DAI files are a mess.  I can't believe I can't sort them by character.

It's all good. :)

I know right? It seems incredibly archaic given that game came out in flipping 2014.

I must be the only person, and PC gamer here, to disagree.  I absolutely hate breaking my immersion to have to save the game, think up a name which is usually my first name followed by Roman numerals, just to go on.

I loved the way it was in ME3, DAI, ME2, DA2.  Whatever you did in those games, keep doing that when it comes to save games.

No your not quite alone.  I don't think I'd really care if it was possible, but I certainly don't miss it.

I don't remember ever giving a save a special name each time I save  Just my characters name.  I keep 4 or 5 saves just in case something goes wonky but even when I was reloading my KOTOR games to see dialogue I didn't put anything special on them.

I also liked what they did too.  I usually have more than one character going on and whatever they did made it easy to switch from one to the other.

I'd like to be able to sit down.  A small thing, but I like using the furniture in my environment.

"Save often, and in different locations."

I have to very nearly take credit for that quote from back in the Baldurs Gate days.

I spend most of my Fallout 4 time quicksaving. I'm like "Oh, I'm entering a new location -qucksave" "Oh, I've just finished combat -quicksave-" "I've just entered combat -quicksave-" "I've just built something -quicksave-".

And most importantly "I'm checking out Swan's Pond -quicksave-"

The last one is VERY important. ALWAYS save before Swan's Pond.

1. There is another Option, I guess is to some, nit picking, but I remember in DAO I use to see some item or chest quite a ways away from me.

2. I could click on that Item, and my Character would run all the way across a field if need be, and grab, or open the Item, It was just so simple, and Very handy game wise.

3. Now when DAI came out, It seems like I have to get and exact distance, and some time I guess because I am clumsy with my release of the forward key. I stop just a little short of the item, and have to nudge my Character forward just a little to be able to activate the Item. [ Which is sort of a frustrating time waste, and button clicking event, that would be easy avoided in the older game Engine ]

4. Its just a little aggravation, but it would really be nice I think if I could just see the item, click on it, and run over to it, and open it or acquire it in the same easy way that it was done in DAO.

5. It just seems like in there rush with this new Game Engine, that they missed a lot of very simple, and handy abilities, and it would to me seem nice if they were re-implemented Hopefully in the next release. { This is one of those Old game engine abilities I sort of miss }

Yes. I hate not being able to do this. It pisses me off to no end. For godsake don't do what DAI did and CAP saves! We do not need to be capped! ****** hell even console players don't need to be capped. They aren't babies they can handle managing their saves.

Wasn't bioware's choice. On the 360 and knowing Sony the ps3 too they put a cap as to how much total data can be consumed by gamesaves.
All 360/ps3 Era bioware games had a cap at where the max allotted space was.

There was also a cap in patches in terms of size and how many hence why ME3 mp dlc and extended cut was in dlc and not patches. And a cap in dlc at 2 gb which was why citadel was in 2 downloads.

Was it rediculous? For those with the large hdds yes. But there were some working with 500mb of storage space on the 360 beleive it or not. You should have seen the gta forums when required gtav dlc went beyond the 12 gb of storage space the smallest ps3 had.

Yes, please!  I like going back to experience specific in-game moments, but I never remember what save corresponds to what with the generic save names.
