The texture right above the water (around the perimeter) and the texture under the water are very different in color. Shouldn't they be more similar?

They are the same texture the difference is the effect of the water plane. The picture is with shiny water enabled.

My only problem with that texture is the lack of pond weed of any kind. Now if that is in a quarry it's fine. You could always use some decals of green splodges to represent such plant life.

Yes, weeds, moss, Lilly pads cat tails etc.. and others items of detail will be added. This is the barebones version, I just want something of a good base texture. I / others can add other plant placables around it to give each one a more unique look also.

As it stands I think that is a good base to work from. As part of the detailing I might (if I had the skill) add some larger rocks that don't break the surface of the water and some flat submerged rocks.

Some caustics visuals would add to the effect. Not sure if that is feasible though.

I played around with noise and other stuff when RTR and others were making the waves sets. I see about looking at this some more. Thanks for the link :)

You might like to look at this free for non commercial caustics generator program. Don't know if it will be of any use but it's worth a look anyway.

Thanks , I look into it. Right now I just testing the basic system.

Here another video, playing with the activated / deactivate animation fun. Good for a oasis that goes dry.
