All my toons have them and Ive maxed out the upgrades. They REALLY ****** off the dragons, Ive noticed. They start jumping around like a hot tamale. Kind of like, seriously, your brought BEES to this fight? BEES?!?! Great for burning down armor, Ive noticed. Its like a Power Pooh Grenade.

We all love the Jars of Bees. Though I find the Confusion Grenades to be more useful, personally.

If the confusion grenade is the one that gets enemies to attack one another, yes- Ive found that to be good, too. But there is just something very satisfying about a boat load of bees freaking Red Templars out. LOL

Pretty good for those "Oh crap" moments when almost everyone is wiped. Especially if an archer (Sera) is left.

I used to, but don't the bees attack party members now after some patch?

Not in my case, my party doesnt take any damage. Thats a setting in settings, as well. As in, you can turn on and off friendly fire

Bee grenades are pure genius....the entertainment value alone! :P

Yeah, the entertainment value is awesome. Those HUGE templars, not the mages, watching them jump around like a hot potato- I crack up every time.

I have always played with friendly fire on in my official playthrough. When JoB first existed, the bees didn't attack party members. When I noticed that they started doing this after some patch, I stopped using them.

I've never used them. Then again, I never used any grenades other than helaing ones. Regen potions for everyone.

Jars of bees are the greatest. I always forgot to use grenades in the previous games (except the resurrection ones in DA2) but I never forget my bees! Here's hoping they return in future games.

That's a... bold statement. x]

I think I've used any grenade other than Healing Mist, maybe 4 times ever, with Jar of Bees being maybe 3 of those times. I could take 'em or leave 'em.

Still, that's more times than I've ever used the non-healing items in either DA2 or DAO... and I've finished Origins at least 8 times. Just never felt there was any reason to use them.

I got use out of the bombs and Mythal's favor. At least when I ramp up difficulty.

I never go to the Haven raid (In Your Heart Shall Burn) without at least 6 equipped (3 on two party members), with duration fully upgraded. Fiona just loves them bees!

In all seriousness, having bee DoT is very handy playing solo. It's like having a second DPS character around for a short while.

That all said, I prefer Morrigan's shapeshifting into a Flying Swarm. Now that was entertaining, particularly since you could control the swarm and fly around stinging mooks.

The jar of bees makes me wonder......how are they made? Because I might feel a twinge of guilt if every time I bring in the materials, some poor scout has to go out, find some bees, and capture them in a bottle.

....Do we have an apiary in Skyhold?

Just tell yourself they're serving a good purpose. Fighting evil and all that.

Probably better than making honey.

I found it interesting that one of the upgrades was "...And Some Wasps". I'm no bug expert but it's my understanding that bees and wasps are hostile to each other. Wouldn't they just kill each other in the jar?

My BFF and I were trying to figure this out and decided that upgrade gives the jar two chambers to keep the bees and wasps separate until the glass is smashed and they have (literally) bigger things to worry about.

I dunno - where I live the bees are usually docile and kept and groomed for honey. They are also kinda cute - for an insect, that is. Wasps are way more annoying. I don't really get the bee paranoia.

I like to pretend that they are all wasps because bees are cute and docile and I feel sorry for them, while wasps are the spawn of the devil.

I do love the jars though, I always max them out and put them in my standard equipment: healing potions, regeneration potions, jars of bees.
I almost never use the other ones.
(But I mostly play with friendly fire turned off - I have finished the game already, so I am mostly playing to have fun and relax)

Is it just me or do they do considerable damage as well? Like I don't think they just rile them up
