Hopefully, given that's the stuff that's important to me, especially after all that ME3 baggage.

And hopefully, Initiation won't be required reading to understand MEA's story.

Good point.

I think the game will cover the voyage to Andromeda part in dialogues and codexes, like ME or other games dealed with their backstory/lore. The book will just cover it in a different way.

I'm not taking anything for granted anymore.

lol I know but :"Can't really comment on specifics but there are things that are similar to DAI but much more that's very different."

So, common points, yes, but in the end not really and far better ?

Why did he even include the first part AT ALL.
that the thought even exists!

I feel your pain but this quote give me hope that the sidequests will be different. I was sadly sure MEA will have similarities with DAI on this special boring point but this give me some hope it will be at least better done ^^

That's fair. Though I honestly don't see how it works, since explaining the backstory and lore stuff is what Bioware always do in their games, in dialogues and codexes.

Similar as in:

Control inputs limitations?

Tactics or lack of?

Limited camera movement and zoom?

War Room with real clock instead of game clock  missions?
Maze like complex menu for gear upgrades?

Crafting gear as in DA:I with multiple work benches?

Crafting better gear than what you can find while exploring?

The need to find schematics?

Searching for "Elf Root" equivalent?

Timed missions?

Empty public squares in Towns and Cities?

Unmoveable and idling NPCs?

Repeatable NPC dialogue?

Better idling animations?

Better facial expressions?

Dialogue wheel?

No pause key?

Zoomed out combat with tiny enemies in the distance?

Illegible Tips window with a 4pixel high fonts?

40+ second load times?

A character equivalent to Varric?

Horned aliens?

Bald pates?

Hair?

Very large eye candy  terrain like deserts, forests, swamps, jungle and winter?

Night cycle?

Rain, snow, fog?

Big Bad humongous flying things?

Oh wait, one more thing -- poor / better pathfinding?

I'm just thinking what " Similar " means in context with my DA:I experience.

Multiplayer doesn't have a campaign.

I've been ready for 9 years now.

Sorry to put this so bluntly but deal with it. They will do it but not now. It would be awesome but for now I'm just happy to be getting another ME game.

When? This was the golden opportunity since all species are in the same boat metaphorically and literally, yet they stuck with human-only. If they wouldn't do it now, I doubt they'll do it later when the species differentiate again.

at least we have them in multiplayer. I get why people want it but hey, maybe they'll make a spin-off game.

That's actually true. This was likely the best situation to start making the PC have multiple race options. I think it's unlikely there'll be another opportunity as good, though there's still a chance they might change their mind for a future game.

I have to say though that I never had high hopes that they'll follow the multiple race options for ME.

I don't like the "built for modern consoles" part.

So...the game is going to run like a toaster?

I liked DA:I. Flawed game, even a disappointment, but there was a lot to like. I hope he means stuff like the expanded interactivity with your crew members and things like that.

I read an article with those Shinobi's quotes like 2 minutes ago :)

I will add this from shinobi  :

"Can't really comment on specifics but there are things that are similar to DAI but much more that's very different."

"No idea, but I will say the music was very reminiscent of the original Mass Effect. I immediately thought of ME1 when I heard it. So good.
In fact from everything I saw, all I could think of was "This is what Mass Effect 1 was envisioned to be"."

<3 yeah !

Oh, thank god, I thought we had a traitor in our midst -- ya know, someone who had played the pre-alpha.

What?

Since you're 18, you probably don't know what a toaster even is

Why would it run like a toaster? I expected more like an oven. And what the hell did he mean by the built for modern consoles stuff? What does that have to do with the gameplay experience?

Well, DA:I had huge limits in the end because the old consoles couldn't handle features they wanted, so presumably they're trying to assuage fans without admiting their last screw up.

He means that he thinks it will be a poorly optimized PC port that doesn't take proper advantage of modern hardware and maybe has crappy UI.
