Hmm I wonder what the E3 trailer is gonna be like. Sean Bean just killed it with the Civ 6 trailer. Maybe we will finally get to hear a female or male protagonist voice.

Yes, it's totally interesting to hear all of the regulars chip in about their pet features/fears for the billionth time. Let's keep discussing that.
Because your posts mocking everyone who is on the forums is oh so original and relevant?

My impression wasn't that Bioware had many requests from fans for an open world, they just saw the sales figures for Skyrim and said "yup!" Which is fair, they are a business focused on making a profit. But don't let's pretend that this was what we asked for and how dare we not be grateful for the change.
Sure, but to a large extent that's because RPG players who liked open worlds had given up on Bioware. Whether Bio should go to a more open structure was very much a live issue on this board's predecessor back when it was NWN vs. Morrowind.

Many of the debates we have now are just repeats. The console PC thing happened with KotOR.

I wasn't here back then so I'll take your word on it. But if open world vs. linear was a big conversation topic then, it took a few years to reach DAI's design. I would think it's more a response to DA2's recycled maps (which wasn't an intentional design as much as not enough development time) and possibly complaints about the shooter corridors of ME2 and ME3. PLUS Bioware seeing how well Skyrim sold and extrapolating that since open world is a buzzword right now, they have to adopt this design to stay competitive.
I'm not saying it hasn't worked. DAI has been much better received than DA2 for a number of reasons, but I think the beautiful detailed maps has been one of the major reasons. Positive reception of the game was, IMO, based on people's first impressions, and a lot of major professional reviewers and casual gamers will only play the game once or twice.
It's very easy to enjoy a beautiful map in the first playthrough when exploring and everything is new. It gets progressively harder to keep enjoying the same map on playthrough 6 when the majority of the content in the map provides no variation from the last five playthroughs.

I don't know about original, but it's relevant when posters are being caricatures, yes.

I don't know why developers think I ever asked for an open world in the first place. Skyrim is great but did I EVER ask every other game to become Skyrim? NO.
Well maybe not you but I'm confident many others did ask for that. It's a big world out there (no pun intended). Still exploration is a good thing especially if can make our levels non-linear....and avoid the shooting gallery Garrus mentioned in ME3.
Reminds me of that comic:

To stay on topic, one thing I will say is that the change in marketing strategy from Inquisition to Andromeda is pretty significant. More than a year before Inquisition launched, Bioware was showering us with information about the game, images, videos, hype, character bios, and so forth. Now, they wait for a predetermined PR event about 6 months before the game's launch to even start talking about features, beyond vague statements like ''more freedom''.
I think the backlash they got when Inquisition changed from the Crestwood demo annoyed both Bioware and EA. Now they try the Fallout 4 school of marketing, reveal all the information about the game in a tightly controlled conference and ride the hype wave until release.
Except if they went the Fallout 4 route, they wouldn't have even confirmed MEA's existence yet, let alone show us two teasers and a public announcement.
