I think references to the old games will be stuff like:
- A Krogan mentioning he's from the Urdnot clan, not naming who became Urdnot's leader
- A Fornax lying around somewhere
- Someone mentioning they're sad they missed all the Blasto movies

It's heartening to see the love for the cool-headed characters from Noveria.
If the story line allows for it I throw my vote in for the honest officer Maeko. She seems well suited for long term space travel and it would be a delight to see her character appear and be expanded upon.

I need some character especially concerned about the lack of Fornax ![]()
Also, geek debates among milkywayer about who is better, Commander Shepard or Blasto
Detective Anaya from Illium, Samara recruitment mission (ME2)
1) She is alive regardless of your choices (unless... you don't recruit Samara at all. Then, Anaya's fate is unclear)
2) She could be available for the Ark Project (she had a good job as policewoman in Illium but her bosses are an ass. Maybe she fed up with that bullcrap and decided to go another Galaxy for a better workplace enviroment
)
3) She could be useful to the project (as a security boss or police enforcement. Yea, I know, plenty of police enforcement in the last examples...)

Detective Anaya and Niftu Cal can flee together when the Reapers come to Illium. ![]()

Niftu Cal is great, plus he is a biotic and that's cool
However, he can die if you don't use the paragon interrupt ![]()
