Archdemon is more weak than Corypheus who could beat his entire horde alone.
What?

It's not that Hakkon can't kick some ass. It's just that he has literally no way of actually killing the archdemon on his own. Even if Hakkon won the Archdemon would just respawn to attack him again.

When you have a respawn, no matter how useless you are, you can eventually get rid of someone far more competent who doesn't have one, perhaps some dragons could kill the Archdemon but they would not be able to keep him dead, and other than the Queen of Dragons I doubt any known Dragon could win more than one round.

I think Hakkon (in a dragon) would defeat an Archdemon, but obviously he couldn't kill one. Dumat, the first Archdemon, was apparently killed quite a few times before the the Wardens were formed and eventually subverted his body-hopping ability.
So if normal armies can kill Archdemons, but Hakkon was presented as a threat to all of Orlais/the Lowlands, he seems more dangerous. This is backed up by the fact that he can freeze vast areas solid quickly.

Even without the Dragon, Hakkonites' plan was pull him into Storvacker and take over Ferelden, although, even a goat-thrower Avvar is a posed threat for Ferelden... so...

Haha, when you put it like that...
Apparently, either that Avvar are just that good, or Hakkon is. Or both.

Well to be fair, pretty much everything in these games is presented to us as a threat to all of Fereldan/Orlais/Kirkwall/Whatever country the current game is set in. ![]()
What's this? A new blight? Without you mighty protagonist this could destroy all of Fereldan.
Oh no, abominations have ovverun the circle. If they escape all of Fereldan will be in severe peril!
The Baroness escaped the fade? If we don't stop her now she might threaten not just Amaranthine, but all of Fereldan!
Qunari getting cranky after siting around at the docks for so long? Damm, this could mean the end for Kirkwall!
Mages and templars fighting? If we don't step this madness this could mean the destruction of all of Thedas!
The elder one and his Venatori are planning to rebuild the Tevinter Empire to it's former glory. All of Thedas is on the brink of destruction!
Massive hole in the veil spewing demons? All of Thedas is as good as doomed!
A Titan waking up? This could cause earthshattering earthquakes that could destroy all of Orlais and Fereldan!
What's this? A random giant spider! This creature could threaten all of Orlais!
Oh no I lost the keys to my garden shack! This could threaten all of Orlais!
Which is in general a symptom of video game storytelling, because players like to have their ego stroked and therefore are not satisfied with quests along the lines of: " Help us defeat this moderately powerful demon, oh mighty Inquisitor. Otherwise the Orlaisian empire might be slightly inconvenienced by havig to send a battalion of soldiers instead."

An Archdemon would most likely infect another dragon like Hakkon during a battle if that Dragon kill the archdemon then they both die at the same time.

That's a whole lot of assumptions you are making.
For once are we sure demon/spirits would have the same destructive effect on Archdemons as a grey Warden soul?
Does being merely infected by the Darkspawn taint already make you potentially deadly to an archdemon? If yes the entire turning people intp ghouls thing would actually be extremely dangerous for the Archdemons, which does not seem to be the case.
Would Hakkon once infected be able to resist the Archdemons influence?
And lastly why would it be most likely that Hakkon would get infected? The taint is shown to act completely unpredictable, from infecting Wesley within seconds of getting wounded to people wading in Darkspawn blood unaffected for years. There is zero guarantee that Hakkon would get infected.

Hakkon probably could kill the Archdemon, however the Archdemon's body hopping ability makes killing it pointless unless you're a grey warden. I suppose Hakkon could just perma freeze the Archdemon basically keeping it sealed for an eternity.
