Emerald Graves, Chateau d'Onterre. I've completed the haunted house quest several times, but usually with the same set of followers: Cassandra, Solas, Sera. I brought along Cole and Varric (separately, on different occasions) with high hopes of good banter, but was a bit disappointed. Cole and Varric both had new things to say, but not a whole lot and not all that great.

Is anyone else worth bringing along for new banter? Is there a combination that produces the best banter results?

My team for everything is Dorian, Cole, Cassandra with some occasional Varric. For this quest, I don't recall there being any cross-party banter, just individual remarks.

 

Dorian has one banter remark while reading some books in the library regarding "superstitious nonsense" that I quite like.

 

In general, I'd say it's usually a good bet to bring mages during magic oriented quests. However, there are occasions where two or more followers have a remark about the same thing and one overrides the other. I found this to be the case between Dorian and Solas regarding a lot of magical banter, which is one reason I don't bring Solas to places.

 

Also, in any given special quest area, there won't typically be "a whole lot" of banter, just when something notable happens.

Dorian has something interesting to say, when you read one of the letter codixes in the library.

I like Cass, Dorian and Sera. Sera's always scared and Dorian talks smack about the goofy books on superstitions in the library. Cass is just my everywhere woman so she's usually in the group anyway.
