Hello there,
just a little suggestion
i think it could be a great addition to include more foreign languages to the game, besides English, like, German, Spanish, French, etc it could even be optional language packs,
that's all
thanks for reading

If they add foreign languages in the game, it would be as some made up alien language. I think hiring different voice actors for different languages would blow their their entire budget. Besides, I think they explained how everyone can understand one another.
There is a universal translator in this game, this is why we could understand different alien language. It wouldn't make sense why we make translator for other languages from aliens but not our own. I'm assuming that if you speak Chinese, everyone would appear to speak Chinese to you.
I think the OP means for the player, not the characters' native language. Because Sven from Sweden doesn't know English and hates subtitles. Or Heero from Japan wants to have Korean speaking protagonist, but Japanese subtitles. Uncharted 4 for example has different speaking language and different subtitles. I think mainly English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and... German?

So essentially have 5 female Shepard voice actors, that speaks those 5 languages, then have 5 male Shepards speaking the same 5? Yeah, not going to happen. Maybe for a game like Uncharted where you have 1 protagonist, and maybe a few other voiced characters. But don't think it would work for a game like Mass Effect.
For Mass Effect 3, I counted about 70 voice actors before I got tired counting.
So lets do some math, we want French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and German?
70x5=350 voice actors (again, I stopped counting at 70 and there were a lot more). I don't see this happening. I understand where you're coming from and this would be cool. But time, money, and I'm sure other factors would prevent this from happening. Where, it would be much more feasible (and cheaper), to hire a team to translate the game in various languages and add in subtitles.
To my knowledge, BioWare has VO not only in English, but also French and German. I'm not sure about other languages, but VO is INCREDIBLY expensive. Doing VO in just three major languages is a lot of money as it is. The game will have subtitles in far more. Depending on the region and how much money the game is likely to accumulate generally determines whether that region will have VO or not.
It also doesn't help that generally only the English VO is applauded for being of high quality. Considering BioWare is a Canadian/American game developer, they are ultimately going to have the most influence over the language they understand best.

Only other language I've seen Mass Effect played in (I believe) was French.

I can confirm that ME series was voiced in German as well. ME1/2 were surprisingly good, ME3 voiceover was terrible, just like that game itself.

I think I watched some playthroughs in italian too.

I was just saying what I think the OP ment. But like Revan said, VO is expensive.

Alien languages could be interesting if done well, but that's something that I might expect from from a genre-crazy director of a movie,
rather than a mega-corporation with business-first agenda like EA. (or a non-EA Bioware in some alternate dimension...)
More localization for European languages you mean.
Although I was quite disappointed that Mass Effect's Asian localization was merely Japanese subtitles in ME2. Kinda looking forward to BroShep being voiced by a decent seiyuu.
Sheppado~~~ Guranto~~ Tari : "後でね." So cute...

Hey! Sven knows english and had subtitles imprinted while still in the tank. ![]()

I confirm, the whole ME trilogy is dubbed in french
same for the 3 Dragon Age.
I actually would like to thanks BioWare for this : not only we have french voices but the majority of the voices are actually very good (Garrus, Mordin, Wrex, Joker Cassandra, Varrick, Alistair ...). Nice attention for the players.

I disagree. Although there are characters who are definetely better in french (i.e. Liara sounds more cheerful and alive [Alli Hillis is a great voice actor, I felt in love with Harding in DAI, but Liara is so monotone...]) others loose a little of personality (i.e. I would have murdered Joker for his voice and Garrus sounded like he had never worked the stick out of his butt).
However, I learned a lot of French thanks to the game so I'm greatful ![]()

First, don't get me wrong, I never said they were "better" in french, I don't do comparisons, I just said I love the french voices the way they are.
Joker and Garrus have the best voices to me (Joker just made me laugh each time he speaks) ! Gilles Morvan (Garrus) has a so deep and sexy voice, I just loooove it and he plays Garrus perfectly to me ~ He's very popular here, especially because he dubbed Garrus.
I think it's easier to appreciate a voice when it's your native language. For example, I think I will hardly be able to judge how a german voice actor plays : the words, the tones, the way to speak, it's too different, I can't compare them with what we have in France. Also I've heard Garrus' original voice, I liked it, but not as much as the french voice (it lacks of emotions to me, but I'm sure everybody who played in english love it).
So as long as they do a correct job for each country, it's perfectly fine!
(edit: you're learning french ? ^^ )

I really like your analysis!
In my case, neither English or French are my native languages, so maybe it's because I have more skills in English than in French language, so I'm more able to appreciate the change of tone or the words used in certain context.
However, maybe the reason why I loved more the English version or you love more the French one is related to the first time we played the games and entered in the Mass Effect World. Playing in French I couldn't stop myself of comparing the characters in the two languages (because I know the English dialogues by heart).
The familiarity with a dub more than the other is what bring us Spaniards and Latinos against each other in Youtube because the different dubs in The Simpsons
.
Yes, indeed... although voice acting is well paid if there are good actors.

I totally agree, my first ME experience will always stay in my mind, and even more because I was so addicted to those wonderful games. And the voices are part of the emotional connection we have with the characters ~
