I would suggest a race that has a very limited life expectancy.

This would add a lot of drama in the game.

Imagine a teammate that we know before is going to die for natural reasons, we know that ''the butterfly'' will partecipate in the adventure just for half of it. (Few months of life, a creature that matures and learns very quickly but has no time to share with the other races the joy of living).

We will substitute this life that ends  with another short-living creature.with a different personality but that shares the same destiny of premature death.

Will this second creature have the time to see the end of the adventure?...what will happen if the protagonist falls in love with this creature...

I think it this idea could bring up new emotions and situations...

What do you think about that?

There are these, but their lifespans are still in the decades, with salarians reaching about 40+ and vorcha 20.

What the OP is describing sounds like the Ocampa in Star Trek, which only live about 9 years.

Drell can live for a good amount of time though, the Codex if I remember right says they can live a couple of decades.

It would be an easy romance arc to write:

Act 1 - "Let me tell you about my species."

Act 2 - "I love you, Schmooples!"

Act 3 - *croak*

We have already had this sort of theme and storyline explored with Thane. I think it was done well, it's generally agreed that Thane was a good character, he's certainly liked more than disliked. I like that this sort of story was a solo one, and that we didn't see it repeat (like daddy issues).

It could be nice if it was handled sort of differently, like you described, a species having this sort of condition, since the sort of storylines you described where never really explored with either salarians or vorcha.

Yes, and this species should also only be able to produce 1 offspring for every 2 parents, but somehow magically avoid extinction due to the resulting negative birthrate. This would fit well with all other brilliant Voyager Mass Effect writing

As if getting an LI, best ending ever, and waiting for this game didn't already produce a lot of "drama" already.

I liked Thanes romance a lot and I wouldn't mind seeing something like that again but at the same time it was also annoying that he didn't count as a romance, we didn't get the achievement for it. It should be more meaningful than that if we get something similar again.

thank you Scarlett-Aimpyh! I will write more for sure! as soon as I feel inspired...:-)

I admit that my threads can feel a bit odd and strange, but if you think through, they hide inside interesting concepts....you have just to elaborate upon them....

Regarding this thread I feel that it could be really interesting if well explored....

Cheers!

Drama waiting for a game?

Personally?

Kingdom Hearts 3.

And I'm sure to FF fans, Final Fantasy 15 (cannot be bothered with the roman numerals today)

Only if that companion is a replicant and tells me at the end he has seen things I would never believe. Attack ships on fire, the Tannhäuser Gate and stuff. But all those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain.

Time to die my butterfly friend :crying:

Don't know why, but when I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it might be about the Butterfly Effect, then I thought of Until Dawn, then I was hoping that it wouldn't be the case of someone saying Mass Effect Andromeda should be like Until Dawn.
