Didn't saw a thread about it so I've decided to create one. For those who don't know, Shinobi is an insider in the game industry and has a good access with things related to BioWare. This past week he had the opportunity to see ME:A on action and spoke a few things about it on the NeoGAF forums. Of course, this doesn't contain spoilers and it's not too revealing but it's interesting nonetheless. All of Shinobi's above comments checked all of my boxes for me. We knew they were taking a more conservative approach to marketing, so we'll just have to be patient and wait until EA Play.

 

And on the inside, my excitement has gone to       .

 

(EDIT: On the plus side, at least this post had more new info on MEA than Bioware's "update" from a few days ago  )

I know not who Shinobi is, but I like the sound of "this is what ME1 was envisioned to be" and the part where each planet has plenty of things to do.

I hadn't heard of him myself until late last year. He's a known game insider that usually has correct details about whatever game he's talking about. He's also very good about staying well within the bounds of any NDA that he might have to sign.

It makes me look forward to next month. We might actually <gasp> have something new to talk about then.

I really hope he's excluding artifact hunting in this. I don't mind if not every planet features an amazing side quest, but I don't want to go easter egg hunting across the galaxy, either. If we can at least get some side quests like in ME1 which featured you raiding enemy bases and occasionally either talking to them or reading their data logs or whatever, even that'd be good enough for me. Just no more shard collection.

besides the faces the gameplay looks a lot better than the final product. ME 1 was still a great game. One of the best. I would like an explanation for it.

Why does even Ashleighs armour look better than anything else in the actual game? And why couldn't I pull a gun on a Salarian to find Liara in THE UPSTAIRS STRIPPER SECTION OF FLUX. Where she's a stripper with critical mission Intel that could save a billion lives.

Yeah, the first Mass Effect was an amazing game.

 

but I still want to play that version of the game I just saw.

The ME1 "Spiritual successor" comment could be hinged on a more concrete fact than just nostalgia.

 

From a friend of a friend that worked for Bioware one night over drinks we got talking about ME1, and how it was much much larger than it actually turned out to be. There were originally supposed to be nearer to 50 council races, not a half dozen. Plotlines and content got axed very very early on due to budget.

 

After that discussion I always wondered what ME1 would've looked like in it's most original (and complete?) incarnation.
