Thanks man, that's actually a lot of info considering what we had of late (that is, pretty much nothing). Cool info too.

Damn I want to travel in time to E3 already and see that damned gameplay once and for all. And then travel back in time, speak to myself and convince me to pick some other career different from programming for it's a pain in the d*ck. Oh, well.

Man, look at that burning effect! it's actually quite good, and the particle effects are really nice, and the biotics look awesome too! Not much of that ended up in ME1 by the looks of things... Still, was a great game.

I've talked about marketing embellishment with their cinematic trailers in other threads.

Examine the Mako behaviour (ME1 trailer) starting at 4:15. Is that how the Mako behaved during game play? Do you believe it is representative of the game?  I certainly don't.

According to Bio, Mako behaviour in ME:A is supposed to be improved. Do you believe it will actually behave as shown in the first ME:A cinematic trailer... you know,,, in-engine and all?

I don't think he's being fair. :( It's up to the game developers what they tell people x

None of what was written would not have been approved and passed by a PR person first.

This is just a different form of subtle marketing designed to build hype in a way that is seen to be organic and not coming straight from EA.

Anyway, if I want to play Skyrim I'll play Skyrim. If I want to hunt down icon on pointless busywork quests I'll play AssCreed. Or DA:I.

ME1 strength was not the exploration of uncharted worlds. It was a nice part of it sure, but it's not what Mass Effect is about - and certainly not when you look at what over two thirds of actual game content is about - 3rd person shooting in slightly open areas interspersed with cinematic character interaction.

A reasonably well written story! The horror! Games should be about shooting waves of Cerberus Troops and standing around being forced to sit through listening to one-liner spouting ninjas, not being immersed in intriguing sci-fi universes! Stupid nerds are ruining the lives of us true fans of shooting dudes.

Hehehe... pour on the salt!  But I didn't like Mass Effect 1 just the same. :D  For the record, Mass Effect 1 was not immersive to me.  Not one bit. ;)

I understand what you mean, but he doesn't say that much, no vital or super secret informations about the plot, characters ... what he says is mainly positive and technical, he encourages us to think MEA will be a good game  ~

I'm sure the dev don't really mind ;) Not like he stole vids of gameplay, chara design or anything else (oh dear, chara design............ I want to see this so badly ^_^ ).

And who knows, maybe he was authorized to tell us. Marketing stuff, you never know.

If I told a group of people a secret, I wouldn't want them telling anyone... even if it was only a little bit of it and made it sound positive... it would still be betraying my trust x

I'm on NeoGAF and somehow I missed this. Very good stuff. More ME1-style is always better.

He's been doing this for years now. If it bothered the devs they'd just stop telling him stuff.

Considering what he saw (and I think he saw A LOT), he just basically said nothing ~ again, who knows, it's maybe just marketing (I mean, posting a forum... of course people will share the infos everywhere).

Also that vids that came up last month showing some gameplay was far worse to me than what Shinobi said ~

Now, the trust issue you're talking about, I get it and agree on the principe ;) but what's done is done here.

Basically, yeah. I like ME1 so much that I'm blind to all its flaws.

Well, for my part, I support you about ME1. Even the repetitive sidequests still amuse me (falling from big mountains with the Mako always make me giggle XD)

ME1 has flaws, I also see them but I just still love this game :)

Yeah, unfortunately is a recurrent thing in industry. Something similar happened with DA:I too.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how much of whatever they're gonna show on E3 makes it into the actual game.

People who are doubting Shinobi, take it from someone who has been on NeoGAF for a while. I can confirm his authenticity. He does in fact have contact with developers regularly, BioWare and others.

Its not the authenticity, more that it reads like a PR puff piece and should be treated as such.

Has he ever said anything negative about an upcoming BioWare game?

ME3 made the sense of scale even worse, where the Citadel went from feeling like a huge space-station to about 5 or 6 semi-large rooms.

I dunno. I think that ME2 has the worst version of the Citadel of the 3 games, since you're basically just going to a few levels of the same entirely enclosed building somewhere in the Wards, whereas 3 at least gives us an area that opens out to the Presidium. In 2, the only time we get that is when we talk to Anderson in the Councilor's office, which for some reason only allows us to fast travel out of that room rather than go out the same familiar hallway that leads to it in ME1.

Whut? You mean the cinematic animation director guy they hired? Or were there other people from naughty dog they hired?

Not sure, in Shinobi's 6th message, he mentions some good talent, including Naughty Dog. Writing is finished, so it's not story, I'm assuming animation. Which still is awesome.

Doubtful. I believe they brought in animators, and the like, whose work with Uncharted 4 had been completed. The "idea work" is likely being handled mostly by long time ME people.

As much as people here like to cry about all of the "lost talent", there are still tons of writers on staff from the original trilogy, best I can tell. It's only natural that some will move on, get promoted, or the like, from time to time. It's the same with any job. Around here, though, departures are automatically perceived as a sign of BioWare's imminent collapse.

Still, animators can give ideas. Those who left did their part, according to Shinobi, it wasn't like "OH MY GOD, THEY FIRED THE WRITTER!!!" it was "Oh, he moved on." If you're good at writing, then writing a script for a movie, game, or threater. It should only take three weeks to a month and a half at the least. Now if you're talking about an on going book series like Game of Thrones for an example, writing can take months or a year. Depending on size, life, and if you have a due date.

They brought in some Naughty Doggers for ideas? I'm sold...

Honestly, that was the only thing that got me excited until I read that they only hired one guy who left Naughty Dog and joined Bioware.  So it's not like the Naughty Dog team is helping them out (If they were it would have been epic).  However, it seems the guy worked on the Uncharted Games and Last of Us so hopefully he's able to put that talent to good use in Andromeda.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the Mako freaking sucked. I preferred the hover vehicle from ME2.  If we have the option to get an updated version of that I would be happier.

And "A lot to do on the planet" could mean anything.  If it's side QUESTS/STORY then that is exciting but if it's Ubisoft level collectibles then meh.

BioWare showed him the game so he would disseminate the info. It's marketing. There's no other reason to give people like Shinobi access like that. He's basically a brown-noser so BioWare gives him favorable treatment in exchange for backdoor marketing.
