That wasn't what I was referencing...but that was funny nonetheless.

I dunno. I think that ME2 has the worst version of the Citadel of the 3 games, since you're basically just going to a few levels of the same entirely enclosed building somewhere in the Wards, whereas 3 at least gives us an area that opens out to the Presidium. In 2, the only time we get that is when we talk to Anderson in the Councilor's office, which for some reason only allows us to fast travel out of that room rather than go out the same familiar hallway that leads to it in ME1.

I agree and for me all three versions of the Citadel have their strengths and flaws.  My issue with the version in the first game is it might have felt bigger, but it felt lifeless.  Like you said about Mass Effect 2 is that it felt like you were in a closed building and couldn't see the scale.  With Mass Effect 3 it was more open again, but was not interconnected so you had to use the elevators.

Nothing supposedly revealed is different from what Bioware said in its press release. Not sure what the big deal here is - this is the same market, with different words. Not sure I'm so excited about the idea of a spiritual successor to ME1's exploration - that had the same kind of garbage quests we saw in DA:I.

Nobody bothered searching for the Asari writings, minerals, insignias or Salarian ID tags, anyway : )

BioWare showed him the game so he would disseminate the info. It's marketing. There's no other reason to give people like Shinobi access like that. He's basically a brown-noser so BioWare gives him favorable treatment in exchange for backdoor marketing.

That's what I think too, in a little less harsh language.

No one bothers doing tedious-useless things in a game, except too much bored people. :)

Like MMO players.

Or completionists. It's difficult for me to not finish all the content I can reach in a playthough, And I never played a MMO.

That doesn't mean that the stuff in ME was interesting. I do hope they managed to fill their open world with more and better content.

At the same time, given the open world nature of the game and DAI, it's not like it'd be a surprise if they do the same thing in MEA.

Ouch, harsh. I guess there's some truth to it.

On the other hand, if Shinobi is generally (trying to be) more objective than biased, I'm not sure I care.

But yes, that's hardly a final verdict or anything, I remember becoming cautiously optimistic watching those dev gameplay videos of DAI,

and then becoming very disappointed with the actual game, so I'm still in "wait and see" mode.

Has BioWare ever called it the spiritual successor to ME1? Or said the music is just like ME1's? And Shinobi specifically said there's tons of stuff to do, going so far as to say there was more to do on one planet in MEA than all of the side-planets of ME1.

Hell, I'm not sure it matters if it's marketing-speak or not. This is just what the game is. If what he's saying sounds good, you're probably going to like ME:A.

But if you didn't think ME1 was all that good in the first place, you may have a problem. Maybe they've fixed the problem, maybe they haven't, maybe it'll all be skippable the way it was in ME1.

They didn't, as far I recall,

In the end those are his personal opinion on what he saw. Also, I think on the ME comparison he said something about MEA being what ME supposed to be, or something like that. It seems to me that he might mean that the open world content should be better then ME's, and not only in quantity.

Though in the end it's all subjective. He might found it good/better while other might still find it boring.

But no one (I hope) thinks that what made ME1 good was the mineral hunts, or finding every damn colony insignia.
That's what it seems is being implied here - IF ME:A is like in ME1 in the way that it has elements of the saren arc, or the encounter with sovereign, or things like noveria or feros- than that is promising.
However all we hear is 'exploration'.

I do agree with your point, though to be fair Shibobi's posts (regardless of his intention) seem to imply that the exploration content is better not only in quantity, but in quality as well.

Granted, we won't know that until the game is actually released, but we know that the open world is back in MEA, so there'll be plenty of exploration and side content. Hoping it to be better compared to ME or DAI is fair.

Also, on the story, Bioware said basically nothing on the game in any level. I doubt they'd show Shibobi the story part, and even then, he'd obviously be blocked in saying something about that.

I don't think it's marketing/PR speak, as I don't think shinobi's has taken either one as majors for college.  Hell, I dunno if he even went to college.  But I do think it's backdoor advertising.

Spiritual successor to ME1... and then he talks about the stuff to do on planets.

That stuff sucks. Even when done well. Why is it something to be excited about? And since when did the Mako have tons of fans. That sucked too. Unless I lived in a hole and never played a game with a vehicle....ever.

I liked the big urban zones like the Citadel or ME2. And an established human element within it (the good and bad). And I liked the roleplaying/dialogue game. ME1 had some of this, but the premise for the new game doesn't seem to lend well to it. They keep talking about the landscape itself as the legacy of ME. For the third time, that **** sucked.

ME1 exploration was awesome, unlike DAI, because they were barren planets. Like the landscapes we see through NASA's rover images on Mars. There were toxicity bars, too. It's incredibly unique and rare in games.

If they stuff the landscapes with things, it will honestly be worse.

I mean....in ME1, those barren planets...you had to have full suit, helmet, often had to stay in the mako. Like a true space mission, you know? The barrenness was qualified. Apollo-esque.

The barenness was justified for some planets, not all. Ad the fact that most all looked the same was bad.

Not that there weren't good things, but I wouldn't say ME's open world was good.

He could've said this a long time ago if that was really his intention though. I think for this reason it'd have make more sense to say it a few months ago then now that we're so close to EA play.

Even if all of this was vetted by EA/BW, at the very least Shinobi is a ME fan like us and these are his first-hand impressions of what he saw of Andromeda. I'm drinking the kool-aid, bring EA Play!

Some people are so cynical, I nearly pity them. Overall the info isn't much, but should you slam a guy for expressing his opinion of some gameplay he saw? Man...
