opionion then?
Yep. Some will find ME the worst game of the trilogy, others ME2 and more others ME3.

If anything I think its better somewhat that Mass Effect has created such a sparsity and range of opinions on everything in the games. Its nice when something isn't just universally liked or disliked with no in between.
It's nice that's it not like other games where everything is awesome and badass, and you dare not say a bad word against it for fear of incurring the wrath of angry Reddit children.
That's alright. I'll talk about what I think of each of the characters now, if you're interested (you're probably not : D )That's subjective. While I rate them in a different way, the only one who I found bland was Jacob, though I didn't hate him.
SbipIf planet exploration was brought back, would be nice if the higher difficulties included a survival mode so we have to keep an eye on various vital stats.

Honestly, I doubt Bio is going for a space simulation game. EA wants to reach the maximum available market and these "greater unwashed" are not interested in any cerebral thinking. Keeping an eye out on your life stats, as you explore, is boring for most, I'd bet.
Your Mako gets parachuted down (my understanding), with you and team strapped down on your seats with lumbar support and supposedly, you accelerate your way to your destination (see 1st cinematic trailer). In reality, your stuck inside driving around in an "improved" Mako...aweing (as in awe) and oohing at the spectacular terrain... similar to DA:I. Hooray... Not.
Think about it. The PC is mandated to finish the ARKON mission, which is to find a new world for humanity. As the PC with this humongous responsibility to ensure humanities survival, you are OK with exploring a non oxygen world in a hazard/armour suit? As the top honcho, here, why is the PC doing grunt work?
A thought or two
Glad to see some information on the game. Even though it was vague, what I read has made me even more interest. Can't wait to see all the info on the game in a month at EA's event and E3.
I guess everyone's fear is that it'll turn out to be DA:I in space.
People, Bioware will make a Mass Effect game. Just because their last entry made them a hell lot of money, doesn't mean that's going to be the main inspiration for every game they make. Was DA:I based on ME3? I have my doubts.
Personally, ME2 is the best of the trilogy because they built a great story and characters plus fun gameplay in an intriguing world. I want ME:A to have just that, adding the massive exploration aspect to enhance the sense of wonder, which I fully support.
Don't get on your nerves that easily. Be patient and wait until E3, when we'll probably see what's really going on.
Keep on rocking!
I dunno. Overall, I found myself revisiting ME3 the most out of the 3, because the gameplay was, to me, the most fun, and I enjoyed most of its main story missions more than the others. It's easy to look back now and skewer missions like Tuchanka and Rannoch, but on first go I thought they were some of the best moments in the series.
That's alright. I'll talk about what I think of each of the characters now, if you're interested (you're probably not : D )
[*] Garrus - Developments on his chatacter - good.
[*] Tali - Same as Garrus - good loyalty mission.
[*]Mordin - Really interesting arc, struggling with the weight of his past decisions
[*]Jack - Ridiculous outfit as annoying as it is, her past makes up for it (though I have to close my eyes, and put my fingers in my ears so I don't see/hear that scene with the heavy mechs, as it doesn't make sense)
[*]I forgot about Thane - he's a 'meh' sort of guy, that makes 5.
[*]Grunt - He's just there to go "Rah! I am Krogan!" and to give us an excuse to kill a Thresher Maw (Okeer would've been better, imo)
[*]Miranda - "I'm a one dimensional character who's just here to advertise Cerberus all the time, and fling childish insults at the Psychologically damaged petson who was tortured by my employers, who I think are so great!" (Until the very end when she changes her mind suddenly and decides Cerberus are jerks now)
[*]Samara - I am a warrior for justice which I dish out by murdering police officers who detain me for murder. I have a crazy murdering daughter who is more interesting than me, who fortunately is also the evilest person in the universe so you are basically forced to make me your squadmate, or else you are stupid.
[*]Wow! I forgot Legion! Oops. He is interesting and awesome. Turns out the majority of the squad are interesting after all!
Pretty sure that's everybody...
It's always interesting to hear the opinions of others about characters, at least for me. You forgot Jacob about non-dlc squadmates.
I don't think Miranda is one-dimensional, and I don't recall insults, though it's been a while. Roleplaying a Sole Surviror in ME2 for me is lackluster experience because it should've obviously need different dialogues with the whole Cerberus plot. I had to change a bit my Survivor Shepard for fit it in the ME2.
Samara's motivation are well explained I believe, and I think both her and Morinth were interesting characters. I don't feel forced or stupid when I pick the latter, though I generally pick the former.

I'm thinking that it will be a space sim, just with exploration added in as well. I forget who, maybe it was a tweet but they came pretty damn close to saying it was a space sim. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking that it could be "Get fuel to go to Y solar system" the same way it was with DAI and power to explore areas. Except, ya know. Cooler. 'Cause it's in #space.
No, but making the story about the characters and not so much about the story (although the story is there) does.
Mario Bros is a story driven game as long as you make it about jumping and not so much about the story.
It's always interesting to hear the opinions of others about characters, at least for me. You forgot Jacob about non-dlc squadmates.
Ah we can let it slide, everyone forgets about Jacob.
He's the Hawkeye of Mass Effect. Not unlikable, not a bad character, but someone who's defining trait is that... he's just kinda there?
ME3 was good up until the ending. It's not like the series was some sort of flawless masterpiece until ME3.
yeah trueAh we can let it slide, everyone forgets about Jacob.

Has BioWare ever called it the spiritual successor to ME1? Or said the music is just like ME1's? And Shinobi specifically said there's tons of stuff to do, going so far as to say there was more to do on one planet in MEA than all of the side-planets of ME1.
But no one (I hope) thinks that what made ME1 good was the mineral hunts, or finding every damn colony insignia.
That's what it seems is being implied here - IF ME:A is like in ME1 in the way that it has elements of the saren arc, or the encounter with sovereign, or things like noveria or feros- than that is promising.
However all we hear is 'exploration'.
You're far from the only one. A lot of Mass Effect fans aren't as in love with ME2 as the gaming media was. It's a deeply flawed game that betrayed what the series was supposed to be.
I'll be happy in SP so long as I can hang up on the council again and have a toke while in the elevator. (That's the spirit of ME1 baby.)

true
And while we're at it I demand a miniature giant space hamster as a pet.
Name me one gamer that would (honestly) be against that.
Trust me, I know a few.And while we're at it I demand a miniature giant space hamster as a pet.

It's true that the games all have pros and cons. Though just because the other games had problems doesn't mean that some people could have a more negative opinion on ME3 even before the endings (even the latter point is not objective, since there are people that like or are fine with them). At the same time even if all ME games have thei pros and cons some might find more problem with ME or ME2 and not ME3. Everyone has their preferences so they might rate one game of the trilogy better or worse then the others based on their opinions of the problems and good things of the said game.
I agree. That's why I disagree with the poster I was responding to telling someone they didn't pay attention to ME3 just because they stated they liked it. IMO, the entire series had flaws but it didn't stop it from being one of my favorites.

lol! Like DA2. You can't even pick out one thing you like about that game without someone calling you a "Biodrone/Biotard" smh

This must be the BEST definition of Jacob's character I ever read.

I prefer Hawke to the Warden and the Inquisitor... there, I said it!
