I was quite taken with Knight-Captain Rylen. I'd love to see him come back, preferably as a love interest. He's Cullen's very pragmatic second-in-command, so he should have the chops to be an advisor if not a full companion (though I like LIs who do travel with you).

Rylen was a very cool character, going back and playing the game it's funny how they mention him a couple times before we properly meet him in the Western Approach. Although he might have appeared earlier, can anyone confirm whether or not the Starkhavener stationed in the bazaar when we first get to Orlais was meant to be Rylen or someone else?

-Yavana: We need a smarty on the party, and I'm certainly tired of Morrigan while I think Flemeth is gone now (she wouldn't fit on a party anyway), since Antiva is not really far from Tevinter, I think would be a chance to develop her character.

I was going to point out that she was killed in the comics, but I realize that her family is known for surviving against the odds.

Indeed, there are some connections that could be made:

-She knows things about dragons and about the time before the Veil, and DA4 may happen in the land of dragons (Tevinter) and we may face the creator of the Veil himself (Solas).

-She seems to know Flemeth better than Morrigan ever did, and considers whatever Flemeth planned to do to Morrigan "a gift". Now that Flemeth is dead (forever?), if we want more answers about Mythal she may be the only source left.

-She was familiar with Aurelian Titus (a Tevinter Magister) and his dragon cult.

Nevertheless, I think Yavana would make more sense in a game set in Antiva. She seems to be part of their folklore as much as Flemeth is of Ferelden's.

I would actually like to see Cole come back as a guide of sorts for the new protag, especially if the new protag is from Tevinter. The connection between Tevinter and magic and spirits would be interesting to play off of, like Fade sequences between the protag and Cole. There could also be the question of if Cole is actually helping Solas or not.

I would also like to see the Arishok formerly known as Sten make an appearance. Show us how war is waged on Seheron, maybe take the protag prisoner and send him to a facility where reeducation takes place. The protag would either have to escape, or act as if he's converted. Cole could come in handy here in helping the protag forget the indoctrination of the Qun, like if the protag fails a cunning check or something. Maybe the qamek can be explored a little more. Like the protag is affected by it, but then Cole is able to break it as a spirit can for tranquility.

Yup, "Who ever heard of a Witch that really died?" aside from that she was killed by a character who does not come back from death if killed.

Although, I really doubt we are going to have a game focused on each country, that's why I put the Nevarran Dragon Hunter and Yavana on my companion wish lists for DA4, because those countries are near to Tevinter but it is unlikely that they set up a plot for each.

If Maryden comes on board I'll be LOLs and happy to play a bard like in multiplayer. Their buffs are ridiculously fun to strum.

If ZITHER! is on I'd be more than pleased.

I would like to see Abelas again. He is the only character I definitely want to see again. I could see Abelas as a mentor, a strict one :) He has a lot of knowledge which I believe would be very useful for the next PC. Anyway if the plot is going to be about ancient elves then I would be surprised if Abelas wouldn't be around at all.

I like other characters as well such as Fenris and I romanced him with my Hawke but I really want him to be with her and not wondering around alone because I suspect that we won't be seeing Hawke again so Fenris would be alone.

There isn't any character that I definitely wouldn't want to see but I really hope that I can choose not to be friends with companions/other characters if I choose so.

I kinda got the implication he would be Solas's bud, so hardly a mentor to the person trying to stop Solas?

Bann Teagan (the age he had in DA:O).

I wish we could play a DLC where he's our companion in battle or something. We could visit the past when Ferelden had barely freed itself from Orlais.

We would visit Eamon's flashbacks as he wrote his memoirs and see people like Teagan, Alfstanna and others. There could be tons of dialog and we could develop bonds of friendship or political rivalries. Imagine having to discuss Alistair's fate with Eamon and actually being there to see how he and Isolde raised the boy before he was sent to a monastery. Or watching Loghain as he, the common man, slowly came to be accepted by the nobility. How his daughter grew up to learn how to be a queen. Imagine seeing the banns's lifestyle from up close. Going to parties, discussing politics, thinking about the future without knowing about such things as the Blight, darkspawn and Wardens, all while sitting in a comfy couch and sharing a good wine late at night by the fireplace, in a traditional castle while the rain pours outside...

I really doubt that Abelas is Solas friend. When we first met Abelas, he was very angry at Solas.  I suspect that he recognized Solas as who he is and judging by Abelas' reaction it seems he doesn't agree with Solas' goals and way of handling things in the past. He didn't join him back then. Maybe he couldn't or maybe he didn't want to but nevertheless he never joined him in his rebellion. Abelas has also seen what happened to the world after the Veil was created, he suffered because it was created. Solas also took Mythal's power and maybe he killed her as well and Mythal was Abelas' goddess. I really doubt he would tolerate that kind of thing from Solas. However I think it's possible that Abelas joined Solas after he left the Temple because he didn't have any other place to go but I don't think he would stay there if he would find out what Solas did.

Solas wants to restore his people and bring back the old times. But would Abelas want that? He wouldn't gain anything if that would happen. His goddess died in that world. He doesn't have anything in he past like Solas has. He doesn't have anything in this world yet but he could have. Felassan learned how to care for this world and Solas started to care as well but he chose his mission. Abelas doesn't have a mission.

I think Abelas is still bound to somebody and whoever that person is can order him to do whatever he/she wants him to do. If that person is Solas then he can order Abelas to join him but if that person is Morrigan or Mythal then his fate might be something else than joining Solas.

Good read! After seeing other posts about wanting to see Abelas return I couldn't see how he could be anything else but Solas' ally. But I think this gives great reasoning. Now I actually want to see Abelas as a companion.
Was Felassan ever revealed to be elvhen? I always thought he was a modern dalish elf who was a convert. But I never read the masked empire, just listened to ashe's videos and read the summary on it.

Felassan comments that Briala wouldn't like his 'clan', implying that he's he's an ancient elf.  He also talks about the ancient elves like he's got first hand knowledge, and it's implied and he and Solas had been friends for a long, long time (possibly before Solas started his rebellion.)

Ty for the info! Perhaps then we will actually see felassan in the next game too, unless Solas killed him for his transgressions.
Edit: actually he dies in the novel right? Idk :[

Thank you :) I don't think it was revealed that Felessan was actually an elvhen but I have read the Masked Empire and it was clear that Felassan was very different than other Dalish that I have very hard time imaging that he wouldn't be elvhen.

Yeah he's dead.  Very dead.  Solas kills him the Fade, and Solas would never make someone tranquil, so he must be dead.  It's referenced in Trespasser with Cole's lines 'the slow arrow breaks in the sad wolf's jaws' and 'his friend had to die because he saw them as real'.

Kind of insulting that female elf inquisitor can almost change his mind over a short span of time when he murders his friend of many years just for not philosophically agreeing with him..

Probably dreaming here, but I'd love a side-quest where a romanced companion goes after Hawke either in the Fade or at Weissuapt.

As for DA4, I'd quite like to see Dorian again, but he shouldn't be romanceable if he's with your Inquisitor or IB. I'd buy anything with Fenris in it, because he's one of my favourite characters. He should only be romanceable if he isn't with Hawke or Hawke had died in the Fade etc. Or polymory, that could work ;)

Merrill could be a very useful companion or advisor, especially if she's repaired the eluvian. Carver/Bethany if they were Grey Wardens could be very helpful as well. Zevran, an Antivan Crow assassin who Solas doesn't know, maybe? Oh, too many choices.

Let's just have a giant game with everybody in it, LOL!

It's not that simple. It wasn't just a matter of disagreement: Felassan betrayed him big way, by allowing the Eluvian network to fall in the hands of Briala. Felassan did it willingly and he knew Fen'Harel would know it too. For Solas, it must have felt like a backstab.

On the other hand, the Inquisitor was under no promise or obligation to help him in his plans. If anything, Solas knows he is the betraying part here.

I'd love that sort of Hawke side quest. Great way for me to still get Fenris too since he is dead in some world states >_>
Merill with an eluvian would be a big help in stopping him. Maybe part of the game would involve a struggle to overtake control of some of the eluvian network.

I may just read the masked empire now. I'll probably pick up last flight too because I think that will impact the next game because the griffins have probably reached maturity by now.

Abelas doesn't mourn Mythal exclusively. He also laments the fall of Elvhenan.

While bringing it back without his goddess wouldn't be ideal, you can bet he wouldn't think twice before joining Solas right now.

The only deal breaker might be what Solas did to her, but that would require Abelas to be misinformed. Nothing was stolen. It was freely given.

Abelas mourns the lost of the Elvhenan. It was the world he knew but it's also gone now. He doesn't feel that he will belong to this world but it's because he was isolated for so long. Until the well was taken from him, all he had was his duty. Like I said earlier Abelas might go to Solas' people after he left the Temple but I'm very skeptical that Abelas would stay there for long. Solas mission isn't his fight. There is nothing left for him in the past. If he could get her goddess back I could see him joining Solas but since that is not possible I really doubt that he will join Solas.

Even though Mythal gave her power to Solas, it happened because Solas had made mistakes. If he hadn't made mistakes he most likely wouldn't have needed to take her power. Abelas clearly doesn't approve of Solas actions in the past and when this happened, I really doubt that he would stay with Solas. Abelas seems to be the kind of guy who takes responsibilities very seriously and I don't think he would accept that Mythal paid the price which Solas should have paid.

If Abelas had anything against Solas, he wouldn't bother refuting the idea that she was murdered by Fen'harel.
