We don't really know about vegetables in Thedas, do people in the medieval inspured kingdom of Fereldan eat potatoes and tomatoes? Do people in Thedas eat fruits such as watermelons? What do you think?

I think they do eat potatoes and tomatoes and maybe even oranges and other fruits and vegetables.

They have bananas too, according to Iron Bull and Blackwall at least.

  • Iron Bull: You know one thing I miss about Par Vollen? Bananas.
  • Iron Bull: They're bigger, less squishy, and bendier.
  • Blackwall: You're talking about the fruit, right?
  • Blackwall: Please, tell me you're talking about the fruit.

From: http://dragonage.wik...ckwall/Dialogue because I'm too lazy to type it out myself.

I never heard that dialog in any of my playthroughs.

Well they definetly use potatos as table ornaments.

If we assume that they actually eat all the fruit and veggies on their table and the fruit they mentinon, their eat: Bananas, Watermelon, pumpkins, potatoes, corn, oranges, apples, navets, peaches, raisins ,grapes, carrots, pea pods?, lemons?, tiny garlic, chilli peppers, pears, tomatos  and cabbage,

There is probably more and I might hunt it down and add it here, unless loudly asked not to.

Iron Bull mentions that he enjoys a tasty banana and a cup of chocolate with marshmellows (chocolate is totally a fruit ;) ).

What are navets ?

What are navets ?

French for turnips. I wasn't sure since they called them navets in DA2, and I'm no expert on things growing in the ground. But google says that navets are infact turnips.

In Iceland they are called næpur but a general term is rófur.

I do not know what kind of flora of Thedas, especially vegetables and fruits, but I do not want to know, because probably the cooks may send the Inquisitor to collect them one by one.

Thanks, rather I'm not curious such a price. ;)

Well in the warden's keep  dlc there is a mention of strawberry jam. And merrill mentions black berries as one of the things that she missed from ferelden. Since thedas is in teh southern hemisphere, I imagie the more new world and tropical style fruits will only be found in the north.

In dragon age 2, one of the miners mentioned they used to grow eggplant when they were in ferelden.

That hardly surprises me.

Do you guys think that Theodosians eat rice? If so I imagine in more warmer areas such as Rivian, Par Vollen and Seheron. We know that Rivian is notable for selling teas around Thedas, so if they got rice then there is a chance that they also sell rice to southern Theodosians...

Dorian mentions he might live longer if he ate rice and boiled veggies to Solas and Iron Bull mentions that one village tried to pay the Chargers for a mission with a bag of rice. So rice probably does exist. (Found this by searching rice in the wiki, which is a decent way to track down if something has been mentioned in the game).

And since there is a pile of bananas in the Cousland kitchen, I'd be surprised if rice didn't get around as well.
