Okay if there will be a time ( probably not ) that i am playing on Insanity i should not play as an Adept then.

But am i right to assume that sniper rifles do quite a lot off damage ?

The right sniper with the right mods can absolutely wreck shop.  An HMWSR X is a force to be reckoned with.  On lower difficulties it can even be fun to load it with High Explosive rounds (set-ups like this can even work on Garrus and Ashley).  On higher difficulties Inferno X works pretty well (but HE not so much).

Frictionless materials and Stability mods work pretty well, but I have heard of some crazy setups like using double scram rails and HE rounds.

Play around with it - see what you like.

I bet you don't know by heart where the letters HMWSR X stands for  :P. and thank you.

Well i'm still with my adept P. Shepard so there is no possibility for it in this playthrough but the next Shepard will be a Sniper riffle kinda woman a sneaky b*tch  ;)

Let me think - HM is specter master gear W for weapon, SR is sniper rifle X is the level (being 10).

You will know this product line when you get them - they are pretty much the best stuff out there.

The Wiki doesn't specify what the HM means, but I have the same thought as you... perhaps a nod to Bond.  Another thought I had was "Human Military/Marine" since the rifles do have an insignia on them very close to the Alliance one.

The main limitation on the sniper rifles is the cooling, which limits rate of fire.  Infiltrator gets a bonus to weapon cooling in one of his talent trees, which is what really makes him the best SR user.

The Assassination talent boosts damage a great deal and also stops the rifle from swaying briefly.

I like to take a weapon talent on Adept for the bonus, and SR wouldn't be too bad in some ways.  SRs are pretty useful on some side missions and on the road to Peak 15 as well as the skyway on Feros.

I've got Garrus set up with Scram Rail X x2 and HE rounds. Haven't taken him out with them yet. I figured that with a SBO of 1.7, he'd be reloading in the cool down time anyway.

So is it like two shots and the rifle has to cool down already or can i take more shots before it gets overheated ?

Depends on how you upgrade it.  With a Scram Rail and HE rounds (regardless of whether or not you also have Frictionless Materials) the SR will overheat with every shot.  With Frictionless Materials, a Scram Rail and Inferno Rounds, the SR will fire a few shots at max. fire rate before overheating.  With a second Frictionless Materials instead of the scram rail, it's pretty hard to ever get the SR to overheat.

For the long range and mid-range sniping, it doesn't really matter since you're usually behind cover at a distance where you're not going to get hit at all.  (I play the game quite a bit differently with a sniper character than I do with a character with more points devoted to shorter range weapons or a biotic).  With a sniper, it's just a matter of waiting for the gun to cool and then taking a second shot, third, etc.  How many shots it takes depends on 1) the size of the enemy 2) the difficulty setting 3) the ammo and upgrades you're using 4) the distance to target; and 5) the number of points you have devoted to the weapon-based talents (you'll see that some add to weapon accuracy and damage).  I generally don't use an SR with any character for the more intense "indoor" fighting.

^Right.  I never run HE since overall it is more like a gimmick than a useful ammo.  Tungsten VII or Shredder VII depending on enemy type.  Inferno is decent.

But when it is actively spoiling the game for you? Why ruin the game for yourself.

That's the advantage of Mass Effect (for the most part). Just because something is there doesn't mean you have to do it.

I do get to choose the type of damage, yes. I can metagame my play (bad, since I don't like breaking character), I can play a PC who's too stupid to understand that the overpowered weapon is overpowered (usually bad), or I can just use the overpowered weapon (bad).

They're all bad. Which one is best depends on how good the combat is. In a TES game or late-game ME1, for instance, the combat's kind of sucky anyway, so there's not much downside to just blowing through it. In a game with better combat the first option is the least bad.

So you can't role play a scenario where the combo doesn't exist? You'll actively spoil the game for yourself because you can't pretend something isn't there?

Did you not read the post you quoted? That's option 1, metagaming. Metagaming because you can't be in-character when deciding such things, obviously.

I said it was bad, not that I couldn't do it. Again, it may be the best option available if the combat is good.

For the sneaky deal, you have got to try that in ME2 and onwards.  Infiltrators in ME1 don't have tactical cloak.  In ME2/3/ and ME3 MultiPlayer it is absolutely amazing and fun.

Sneaky B deal lol ;).

So i can become invisible for my enemies in ME 2 and ME 3 cool.

I sometimes use a glitch/cheat in Skyrim that i become invisible for my enemies as well and that is a lot of fun. You then stand right in front of them shooting firebolts ( or something else ) and still they do not see you as i said a lot of fun.
