How did they screw up the Soldier? To me it remains the only god-like class in the second two games. Adrenaline Rush combined with an ammo 'power' for every occasion powers doing makes the Soldier near unstoppable, even on Insanity. They even have the best shields and health. The Adept suffers massively in the second two games because of Biotic little more than being able to stagger a shielded or armoured enemy, and ME3 made it worse by introducing the weight system.

Though I do agree on the pure classes. An Adept with a weapon skill as a bonus talent is far better than any of the mixed classes in ME1. A Soldier with Decryption is also brilliant, and frees up points on your tech team-mates to be put into Electronics or another talent.

Even without it as a bonus talent the Shotgun proves useful on Feros for classes that can't use it. When those Creeper attack you on the stairs, they are so tightly packed that you can just point and shoot.

I like being unstoppable with my P. Shepard so that's a good thing to know that when i buy ME 2 and ME 3 i choose the Soldier class and not the Adept  ;). Btw what is the weight system ?

Well i am a Adept at the moment so i'm good.

Okay good to know.

The weight system is only in ME3.  In ME3, your cool down times change depending on how heavy your weapons are.  Each gun has a different weight assigned to it, so if you only carry 1 or 2 lighter ones, your cool down times will be quicker than if you carry heavier guns.  The heavier guns, however, usually (but not always) have the higher damage stats. Also, some of the weapon mods will add 50% more to the weight of the gun.

As an Adept, whose real strength is in using biotics and not weapons, you will probably want to carry only an SMG and/or a pistol in order to keep your cool down bonus as close to +200% as you can get.  The drawback then, of course, is the possibility that you might run out of ammo during a fight and have no backup weapon to use.  I found though that, with the Adept at least, it wasn't a problem.  I only carried an SMG on most missions and I often went through entire battles on Hardcore without even firing a weapon once.  I believe also that someone has done a video with an Adept that goes through the entire game (ME3) without using a weapon once, except for the two sequences where using a pistol is mandatory.

Soldiers are more weapon reliant, so they are allowed to carry more weight and still maintain the +200% cool down bonus (by opting for a rank in their skill tree that gives them that ability).

I totally forgot to say this but really Bioware the sprint button is a big joke. I think you can sprint for 1 second and then you're already exhausted i'm not even use it anymore. Really one big joke.

Why? How long/far could you sprint if you were put  in armor carrying weapons?

At least longer then one second way longer Mike and those weapons are all future weapons. So i bet they are very light weighted and also your armor is light weighted to this is not a medieval Universe anymore ;)

Unfortunately there's never any future weapons around to find out if you can. I also don't understand why you're saying Shepard sprints for one second when its more like 3 or 4  seconds.

True but i bet it's lighter then the medieval armor and weapons and those guys back then could sprint longer then 2 or even 4 seconds ;). And those light beams where you shoot with i also bet they create not so much heat then the weapons we have today. So they can make lighter weapons. Well not in my game it really is not longer then 1 second maybe 1 second and a halve and then she is already exhausted ;). And even if it was 4 seconds which it isn't it's still way to short  ;). And there is another thing that also bugs me and that is that you can only sprint when you are in danger. Why is that why can i not sprint when i'm not in danger that's just weird.

What's with this medieval armor thing? Would you sprint longer if being fired at?

Why is it weird you can't sprint when not being fired at? If you do that, you may not have the energy to sprint when being fired upon. You want to conserve your energy when possible for when you really need it.

It's just for comparison nothing more. Yes longer and faster if i'm being shot at won't you ?

If there is no enemy in sight for the next 2 to 3 miles then yes i would like to sprint then to. It does not take an hour to get that energy reserve back. And as i said before i don't need it anymore.
