Agree that the squadmate AI is really terrible.  I like using a sniper rifle, so I often pick a good perch behind a knoll and usually order my squad to stay down in cover by the mako' they generally follow me and then stand right on top of the knoll firing their little pistols at the distant targets until they get taken out by the enemy. Once I get Garrus or Ashley leveled up in sniper rifles, I can sometimes get a little help from them, but they do still tend to stand out in the open a lot.  At range, they also have an annoying tendency to tell me it's "all clear" even as they are taking fire.

Unfortunately, sniping thresher maws from behind knolls usually isn't possible because they just go back underground when you're at range... but it works great on any of the mercs outside the various bases in the game.

As a general rule, your squad mates will revive on their own any time your radar is completely free of red dots (if the battle is taking place outdoors) or if you exit the building where the battle is (sometimes even just backing into the lobby area will be enough... but not always).  This also works in ME2 and ME3 (although it's often tougher to execute in those two games).  ME2 and ME3 allow you to split up your squad, so you can position them in more tactical places more easily, so you shouldn't need to rely on medi-gel or running out of area quite so much anyways.

Yes the AI is terrible this happened to me a lot of times already that they fire at a peace of rock or something else where some enemies hide behind and just continue shooting at that peace of rock not hitting anything. Or when i am shooting someone they think by themselves oh let's stand in front of Patricia so that she can shoot us in the back. Or when there are a lot of crates and other stuff to hide behind they just stand there in the open and let themselves get shot yeah again the AI is terrible. Oh yeah that happened to me as well a couple of times that they say it's all clear when they are still taking fire i laughed the first time they said that stupid quadmates :D.

Yes i know you have to be close enough for the Thresher Maw not to disappear in the ground.

Okay.

That is often a cause for discussion.

But since the Genophage was put on them there are nowhere near as many Krogan being born as earlier. And since they all prefer to just go out in the galaxy to fight instead of trying to improve their numbers and organisation, I guess in a way they are a dying species. Much of it by their own design.

You'll get much more out of the game if you take the time to read the codex entries.  It's a pain but everything makes so much more sense going forward.

I don't know how to answer this without getting into information we learn from Mass Effect 2, but Wrex says in Mass Effect 1 that the Krogan are going extinct. That is not exactly true. Shepard can even ask him "Are the Krogan really dying?" or something to that effect and Wrex replies "Well we certainly are not getting any stronger." And that is a key point, in that Wrex views 'not getting stronger' as 'the Krogan are going extinct.'

Every time i play ME 1 i read a few of them but there are just so many of those codex entries and as you mentioned they are a pain that is the main reason why i have not red that one yet.

[spoiler]In Mass Effect 2 we learn that the genophage is not a sterility plague (even though it is most often referred to as such). Rather, it affects fertility rates. The genophage keeps the Krogan population in check by keeping the Krogan birthrate to 1 in 1000. This may seem excessive, but as we learn in Mass Effect 3, Krogan females can lay thousands of eggs in their lifetime. Krogan also can live hundreds of years. This birthrate ensures that the Krogan population can continue to grow, but not at the exponential rates that caused the Krogan rebellions, and not too low that the Krogan eventually die out. 1 in 1000 is the optimum birthrate to keep the Krogan populationn stable.[/spoi

At my own risk i red your spoiler  ;).

I did not know that the female Krogans were laying eggs and i have never seen a female Krogan yet in ME 1 or do they look the same as the male Krogans ?

And also yesterday i was doing a quest that i have to destroy four Geths outposts on different planets ( i forgot what the name of the quest is ) and that was really irritating. Because i cannot hide behind a rock or something else i am just a sitting duck in that quest and i have to destroy about seven of those turret things. So can you give me some pointers of how to bring those outposts down that it will be as easy as those Thresher Maws were. If you are going to say that i have to move and shoot then that will not be an option for me. Because aiming with that little irritating joystick and shooting at the same time is just not possible for me.

She's no fan of aliens.  Racist?  No.  Take her Citadel to meet Charles Saracino to shed some light on it.  I believe the quest is "Our own worst enemy."

Hide the front of the mako behind an obstacle (rock, cover, etc.).  The turret will consistently aim for the front of the mako and you can safely take it down using the mako's cannon.  You'll have to make sure that you're not exposed to a different turret though (they are usually set up so that they can get you caught in crossfire.  If you've upgraded Shepard's sniper rifles, it's sometimes easier to just park the mako in cover and set up Shepard behind a rock or knoll and gradually whittle down all the enemys and turrets with the sniper.  On the planets with a Level 1 hazard, just outfit one squad mate in an armor that offers some environmental protection (e.g. Survivor, Explorer or Thermal).

Interpretations on any of the characters somewhat depends on what dialogue you select.  That's what the game is, in part, about.

Well yesterday when i was hiding behind a rock i was out of range with the Mako. And i cannot use my sniper rifle yet because i don't think that i have any points in that one. I tried but it was a huge circle and i was hitting nothing maybe i did something wrong.

If you're playing as an adept, you're not going to be able to use a sniper rifle with any accuracy.

Another wee tip that I'm surprised noone has mentioned: You can pause to aim.

1 - Bring up the power wheel to pause the game.
2 - Move the stick to place the cursor exactly where you want to shoot.
3 - Release the power wheel and pull the trigger.

As I said, it a matter of getting the obstruction (rock) between the turret and the front (nose) of the mako.  The turret will consistently try to hit the front of the mako, so the back half can be sticking out completely and the mako will not take damage.  You can then aim the mako's cannon right at the turret and fire.  I've done that geth quest many times, and there are numerous places where you can tuck the mako in to hide the front of it.  One trick is to take out one turret and then hide behind the base of that turret.

As Pasquale mentioned, if you are playing as a class that cannot assign points to sniper rifles or you just don't have enough points assigned to them, you will not be able to steady a sniper rifle in order to use it.  I particularly like using a sniper rifle in ME1 because there are lots of great locations on those side planets to snipe from); and because an Adept can use one effectively, I avoid playing ME1 as an Adept and usually play it as an infiltrator or a solider, where I max out the points I can assign to their sniper rifles.

As a general rule, there is one of a planet, moon, asteroid, or ship within each system on which you will be able to land.  There will usually also be 2 or 3 planets that you will be able to survey (i.e. collect a mineral, ID tag, medallion, data disc, or writings) directly from the CIC.  There are some systems that open up only after each "plot world" mission is complete (e.g. doing the mission of Feros opens up the Maroon Sea Cluster and doing the mission on Noveria opens up the Styx Theta Cluster).  The clusters containing the Virmire and Ilos missions will only open once you acquire those mssions.  The Bring Down the Sky DLC adds an asteroid in a new cluster and the Pinnacle Station DLC adds a couple of land-able places in an existing cluster (Argos Rho).

Certainly, the game does not require or expect that you will do every assignment... and they can get rather repetitive if you opt to do all of them (even though there are ways you can "mix" them up a bit yourself - e.g. by choosing to do some using only a particular weapon or power or "stunting" just for kicks in the mako.  Some of the side do have some impact in ME2 and ME3, but you don't even need all of those to complete the game... unless you're really wanting to get the "best" ME3 ending without purchasing any DLC for any of the three games.  Real speed runs of ME1 only do the main missions... and people do successfully import those speed run saves into ME2.
