You must be tortured. Reject the fear, and embrace the love Penguin !
Relax Techno, since when having a maxed manifest is mandatory to have fun ?
It isn't.
But spending hundreds of hours receiving occasional random upgrades to weapons I don't even want to use while the weapons I actually enjoy are all low level is neither fun nor a gaming experience I ever want to repeat.

Well the gameplay is what should make it fun.
The reward system should offer the fully engaged players a sense of accomplishment that progress is being made toward an achievable goal. An enticing feeling to keep pressing 'onward & upward'.
This RNG feeling is more like -- more like being dragged around by the genital hairs.
I'm a Penguin lol, I know EVERYTHING about love. ![]()
The Dark Side is about helmets and cookies and red lightsabres.
True story.
I think credit rewards should have been re-balanced so that one bronze game rewards enough to buy a single vet pack, and one silver game allows for two, just in order to ameliorate some of the early game grind and possibly lessen the number of players essentially leaping into the higher difficulties before they're ready and leeching for credits (or missile glitching) before they even know basic game mechanics.
I bought the preserves pack, 'cause I was hungry.

I can't contradict that.
However, I also remember that the period when I was still unlocking new stuff was actually the most exciting in my entire ME3 career. I think the process is pleasant, but the way it is currently implemented (with too much randomness and a too low UR drop rate) is indeed frustrating.

Actually, I do think ^^^ happened. I remember there were higher payouts at every level. Bronze would get you 20k, Silver was close to 60k. I think a little while after platinum came around they modified the difficulty of each level and their payout.....back in the day, silver actually had a decent failure rate.
So the consensus is they got it basically right with ME3, but then royally screwed it up in DAMP? I hope that's a lesson that's been learned now.

Well, from being on it right now (4 UR to max, yay), I can tell it's exciting. But I've been lucky with my drops, because for the most part I used to unlock new guns before the ones I had unlocked were too high level, meaning I could use most of them early on (the Wraith eluded me for quite some time though). Unfortunately, there are lots of people who haven't been that lucky.
Thinking about it, I'm not sure I would like to go through this again. The reason I keep playing the game is definitely not the thrill of unlocking new stuff, even if that also exits. So, for me, the pricing of each pack is fine. The drop rate of ultra rares is not. Either they raise the odds you get URs, or make less UR guns. Also, they should make it easier to unlock all the stuff before maxing it.
Not drinking for another 2 hours ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ this was around october 2012 .....I was there, it happened..I remember having wave 7-8 silver wipes and being really angry about them.

From my perspective, I know I would have had more fun from the game, and played just as much (if not more) if I had access to the things I wanted earlier by working for them directly instead of randomly.
Many times I had kit/build concepts I wanted to try, not knowing if/when I would get a chance to play them never sat well. And I'm one of the "lucky" ones. (Maxed at 760ish hours)

It only shows that you were already drinking back in october 2012 ! ![]()
It was around 15k, 30k, 70k at the beginning (so even worse than nowadays).

I agree with this. I used to read all about interesting builds but was excluded from trying them because I didn't have the weapon. The paradoxical result of this is that one of the game's major strengths - kit variety - is watered down for the first couple of hundred hours you play (I can't remember how long I took to unlock all weapons, but it was a good long while).
As an example, I have a friend who's now played >200 hours. He loves the game but is not very confident, and mainly plays silver. So he doesn't earn much. He's conscientious, and makes sure he always has gels etc, so a good amount of his earnings goes on the lower priced packs. As a result, despite putting that many hours into the game, he still hasn't even locked the GI and TGI. Most of the URs are still a complete unknown to him.
On the other hand, you can't just give everyone everything from the start. Incentive and reward is an integral part of all games. I kind of sympathise with Bioware, because it's such a difficult balance to strike.
It isn't.

I'm a little surprised you found it all so tough to cope with, as I've managed to unlock a Phaeston X (and Claymore I) on at least 3 accounts within considerably less than 100 hours.

It's funny, it took me 1690 hours to max my main manifest and I never used most of the URs at their highest levels because almost the first thing I did was start another a/c (or continuing with the accounts I'd already started). I know for a fact I've never used my Hurricane X, Typhoon X, Valkyrie X, Venom X, Spitfire X or Harrier X. In fact, the Talon, CSMG, BW and Lancer are the only ones I'm certain I have used at level X.
I have no real issues with the store, beyond the frustration of receiving redundant character upgrade cards. It's perhaps worth noting that Veteran Packs retain an attraction for people who don't promote, as they have the highest return on respec cards. On all my alts I've never bought anything more expensive than a Spectre Pack, and my unlocks always trundle along quite acceptably. What level my URs are at is somewhere near the last thing on my mind when I'm actually playing.
But I agree absolutely that it would be progress which would suit everyone if Andromeda introduced a more expensive pack with a guaranteed UR. And one thing is for sure - I won't be spending any real money in a store structured similarly to the present one.
FTFYHowever, the inability to buy multiple packs at a time has frustrated me A LOT.
When it comes down to it, my problems with the RNG store aren't even really based on
MUH URs
. Pack pricing structure, the UR drop rate and the availability of different packs are part of it, and various adjustments could be made to each of those, but it wouldn't fix my fundamental problem with the game. Lack of player agency is what really irks me about the entire system.
For the first few hundred hours, barring incredible "luck", the RNG store chose the way I was going to play the game -- what kits I was going to play, and what weapons I was going to use. Even if it dropped a weapon I liked, good luck ever getting amps for it instead of just explosive ammo. This isn't something I expect in a game that calls itself an "Action RPG."
I think if not for the fact that I unlocked a hot fat turian sentinel on day one and fell in love after our first match together I would have quit the game and never came back to it
the entire purpose of this post was just for the last line about turians, got to fulfill a quota
The packs are so expensive.
after ive finished a bronze game I can only afford a few little packs
the only real money I get is when I've played with people from here x

I found this frustrating too. However, one thing I did learn is that it's good to be flexible, so if you keep getting sniper rifle weapon upgrades, maybe it's time to try and be a sniper? Personally, if you are playing with friends, it's less frustrating because you should be having more fun in the game, and the credits should be coming in faster as friends > pugs.

Especially if someone is putting real money down for it.

This is one of the reasons I keep playing this game, is to help the new players along by helping them in gold matches. I wish I had friends when I first starting playing this game, would have gone a lot faster and less frustrating.
The main downside in the store is that they simply may not get that UR weapon that you want for hours on end. It always pains me when someone asks about the particle rifle and I say it's probably going to be a long time before you get it and at a decent level ![]()
BTW: When multiplayer first came out there were much less characters and weapons to get hold of.

Haha I definitely need help with gold... it's so hard! A brute had me trapped in a corner on... Firebase Ghost I think??? I had to use everything to kill it... other than my rocket launcher. I keep forgetting that exists haha xxx
