I'm a bit late to the party, as this game was released in 2014 and I only began playing a month ago. But can I just say one thing? Cassandra is the most adorable romance companion. I'm on my second playthrough thinking I would romance Sera instead of Cass, but nope, I created another male inquisitor just to romance Cassandra again. She is such an honest person with good intentions and genuinely cares about those around her. Plus she is beautiful and her smile, oh god her smile.

Every time i see Cassandra, my heart swoons ______   

 

Sorry guys, I just needed a place where I could share my admiration for Cassandra :'(

All this talk of love while the breach continues to grow and spew forth demons.  The chantry is hanging by a thread the templars and mages are at war, the Qun are a new threat and as the new divine I am sworn to be celibate and love only the maker and all the Herarld can do is carve hearts in trees.

I liked Cassandra, I thought she was adorable, and then I checked out this anime and fell completely in love with her. She's pretty badass in this, even though she looks nothing like Cassandra in the game.

I preferred the anime Cassandra a lot more than the one we got in DAI. They ruined so many great things about her in DAI.

I guess. They made too many things I was hoping they'd avoid canon. For example in the movie the kiss on the cheek she gave Gaylen was a chaste one, but then Gaider turned that into a "Oh no, they totally banged", then there was them doing the stupid jokes like her liking smut. 

 

She is still one of my favorite companions, though that isn't hard since I do not like most of them.

That's another thing. Why in the world would after sex(which is mandatory in the romance  ) would she mention her past lover who died recently? But yes, it is Gaylen she is talking about.

Oh, I wasn't aware that it was a joke on the forums or anything. I didn't visit the Dragon Age boards until DA:I came out.

I don't remember anyone joking about Cassandra liking smut. She was joked about being a stabber of books, not a reader of them.

But yeah, she's a pretty awesome, well-written character and always ends up great friends with my Inquisitors. Although now that I think about it, that friendship might be healthier with my Cullenmancer than the one who has unrequited love for her      I'm not sure what that would be like in real life, to love your best friend knowing they can't return the feeling. I hope I don't find out!

Yeah, the Inquisitor reciting a poem about an "aching branch"...   At first I didn't realise it, then I wasn't sure that wasn't just my dirty mind, but I saw her reaction and rolled it around in my head and... damnit, we screwed up, Trevelyan. Well, kind of. It worked out, I guess. 

 

And, I mean, I might not be into what Cassandra is into exactly and thus the romance might not be my very first choice, but I still find it a lot of fun and sweet and enjoyable, and it allows me see one of my favourite DA characters from another perspective. She never tells the Inquisitor about losing her former lover if they're "just" friends, for example. Yet it made me like her even more because she went through it all alone and never once complained, but it also makes me sad for her. I don't know what to do with that knowledge when I play my fem Lavellan. 

 

Haha, I understand. I'm just lucky playing a male character locks me out of Cullen's romance, otherwise I might be tempted. (I tend to roleplay different characters, but you never know.) Cullen's romance is like crack, too. (WHAT HAVE YOU WROUGHT, BIOWARE?) Cullen and Cassandra are my guys. 

And now you have given me a whole new perspective on an "aching branch"   Perhaps our Trevelyan's were not aware of such innuendos

 

Yes and I agree with you about Cassandra. At the beginning when you first meet her and begin flirting, there was no indication of such tragic events. I suppose all we can really do is support Cassandra to be the best of our abilities and respect her

 

I have yet to explore Cullen's romance. But I don't think I could ever bring myself to. It feels weird to be with someone else when Cassandra is my canon romance, and oh I love her so much ahhh! ________

Haha same! I bought this game while it was on sale on Bioware's website. My friend was the person who first got me into Dragon Age

Ahhh!! When she narrated Varric's book, that was the cutest thing ever!! It's what made me stay until the end of credits. And thank you for linking me that video, the look that Cassandra gives you is just mesmerizing _____

I understand if you're not sure about trying it though, because even though you'd never believe it from my posts, but I actually had to be talked into trying it myself

 

So yeah, no pressure, but it has my strong recommendation. And since you'll have to play a female, you can't be tempted to go for Cass, as others have pointed out

I thought it was moving. What she said was that there was this guy she loved and he died at the Conclave and that she was not going to lose the Inquisitor to Corypheus like she lost her previous love. She pretty much swears she won't allow Corypheus to take him away from her. I thought that was the point she was working towards by bringing it up and it felt bittersweet. Perhaps it was a bit awkward, but then again... when has Cassandra ever been subtle?

Seconded. Cullen's romance is my favourite BioWare romance. Like, out of all their games. Not only is Cullen a great character that you can explore further that way, the romance is so stupidly cute and fluffy and happy and supportive and makes me weak in the knees, and a video game should not be able to do that, damnit.

I totally agree it's something Cassandra might like. In fact, now I'm disappointed she didn't turn out being a major shipper of the Inquisitor and their LI.

I think I might romance Cullen on my next playthrough, the romance seems very sweet Does Cullen have any restrictions when it comes to his romance, like for example, does he prefer humans over elves or something along those lines?
