In several modules, such as Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate Reloaded I noticed there were NPC clerics in temples who would sell spells directly.  Was this a stand-alone add-on put out by somebody that the developers integrated, or was it a custom job on their part?

Perhaps I am using the wrong search terms, but I am not seeing it on the NWVault or Nexus Mods.  i can probably try to extract them from some of the modules i have, but I could save a great deal of time if anyone knows if this is a hosted somewhere as a stand-alone product.

Thanks!

Haven't heard of this, but I assume by "directly" you mean that you pay the NPC and you automatically learn the spell, rather than buying a scroll that you scribe into your spellbook?

You'd speak to a cleric in those games, and they would open a UI window with a list of clerical spells, and how much gold they cost.  When you selected a spell, it would cast it on your current target, and then deduct the listed amount of gold from the player.  I had noticed it was an identical system in both IWD and BG:R , so I assumed they all got it from the same place.  It's probably pretty strait-forward, I am sure I can strip it.

Part of why I try to track things down to their source is so I can list the author(s) in the game credits. If the little window was the work of someone in specific, I was attempting to figure out who, rather than just taking a meat cleaver to IWD.  I desperately want to make a great game, but I also want to make certain everyone who contributes is credited properly.  Perhaps I will PM some of the BG:R crew, they may have some information.  I was a bit hesitant due to the staggering scope of their own project.  They are a tad... busy.

Ah, so you mean that you pay for them to cast a spell on you.  I haven't seen it, but can you post a screenshot of the UI that appears?  I've only ever seen conversation-based temple services, using the stock scripts.

At any rate, the Icewind Dale NWN2 module came out before BGR, so if it wasn't posted separately by someone else, then it came from Icewind Dale.

Thank you, that's better than a screenshot.  That interface is wonderful and I wish I had known about it.  It adds the kind of "services" option that the Infinity Engine games had.  I would have used it for my innkeeper's services if I had known of it.

Here is the cleric store yanked out of IWD for anyone interested.  I'll add it as a post tomorrow, busy scanning images.
