Hi all. :)

First off, I hope it's okay to post this here.  I really wasn't sure which forum would be the most appropriate...

I desperately want to use Flycam in my game (I LOVE taking screenshots) but I'm having problems getting it to work.

I've been following this YouTube tutorial (Dragon Age: Inquisition - Flycam Tutorial) but can only get to a certain point...

1- I've launched the game as Admin and loaded my most recent game save.

2- I've tabbed out and run the extracted "DAI Cinematic Tools.exe" as Admin.

3- The DA:I Cinematic Tools windows opens, and then this is where I'm stuck on the next step...

In the tutorial she says "I usually just click on Inquisition" (to get that second window to open, that's supposed to say "Waiting for GUI...") but I don't know what she means by that, and I can't see what exactly she's clicking on.

I've tried clicking on "Inquisition" in the Cinematic Tools window (but nothing happens, as that just seems to be a static image), and I've tried clicking on my minimized DA:I game icon in the bottom toolbar (but again, nothing happens).  I'm just back in the game, and if I tab out again, all I see is that first DAI Cinematic Tools window.

This is making me feel very dumb, as I'm sure I must be missing something very obvious.  But my search for another tutorial has come up empty, so I'm hoping someone here might be able to help, please?!

* I'm using Windows 10

* My game patch/version is: 1.0.0.12

* I'm using the DAI Cinematic Tools version: 1.0.0.0 (Latest update: 21.01.16)

Have you tried using Extreme Injector? My antivirus flags it as a hacktool virus so I won't use it but, I did find a modders site that claims you need it with Windows 10 for the cinematic tool to work.

Thanks very much for the link/info.  But unfortunately, I'm still stuck... :(

The first time I tried using the Injector, Malwarebytes flagged and deleted it.  I went ahead and added it to my Exceptions, and did the same with avast! as well (those are the only 2 virus/malware programs I have).  I also added the DAI Cinematic Tools to the Exceptions for both programs, and then tried again.  But still nothing.  I'm still stuck at the stage where that second window for the DAI Cinematic Tools will not open up.

Do I have to actually do something to get that second window to open up, or is it supposed to just open up automatically after the first one opens?  Like I said previously, in the tutorial she says "I usually just click on Inquisition", but I don't know what she's talking about, and can't see what exactly she's clicking.  I must be missing a step here, but I don't know what/where this "Inquisition" thing is that she's talking about...

On a side note: I'm not even sure if the Injector is working.  When I click "Inject" (for the last step of the instructions) nothing appears to happen.  For example, the window doesn't close, there's no confirmation message, no error message, etc., etc.  Basically, there's no visual confirmation at all that it worked (or didn't work).

Any other suggestions of things to try would be much appreciated.  I must get this working!  The thought of not being able to take custom screenshots in this game makes me want to go curl up in a corner and cry. :crying:

--------------------

Again, my steps (with a bit more detail this time):

* Malwarebytes (commercial ver.) - Exceptions added for DAI Cinematic Tools.exe & Extreme Injector v2 by master131.exe

* avast! (free ver.) - Exceptions added for the folder that both of the above have been extracted to (avast! can only add a folder, not individual files)

1- Launch the game as Admin, using the green sword/shield icon (DragonAgeInquisition.exe), not the Origin client.

2- Load my most recent game save.

3- Tab out of the game (so I can access the DAI Cinematic Tools.exe).  I play in Full Screen, and tabbing out doesn't really minimize the game, it just changes it to a small windowed version, which allows me to see and access everything on my desktop.

4- Run DAI Cinematic Tools.exe as Admin. (This only opens the first window, with the Freecamera, Visuals, and Misc tabs.  The second window does not open.)

5- Run Extreme Injector v2 by master131.exe as Admin.

6- Press “Add .DLL”, browse to DAI CInematic Tools folder and add “DragonAge.dll”.

7- In the “Process name” box, write DragonAgeInquisition.exe and press Inject.  (I didn't have to actually type DragonAgeInquisition.exe this time.  It seems to have just remembered it from before.)

And... nothing happens.  Still no second window for the DAI Cinematic Tools.  I went ahead and tried to use it in-game anyway, but it's not working.  The Insert and Delete keys do nothing.  And I did press the NumLock key before trying again, but still nothing.  (Is there any way to know when the NumLock key is on/off?)

Nothing happens for me either and I believe that is because we are using Windows 10 that has DirectX12. I know I have read that Extreme Injector helps, but I don't risk or fight the whole "I am Virus" conflict with my computer. Some people do not seem to have an issue running it with Win10, but I cannot get it to recognize that I am running the game - I do not get a GUI - or anything that signifies it is even trying.

I know  :( ...it is so sad. No Flycam - no alternate views...

Oh, no...  No. No. No!

Can I just cover my eyes and pretend I didn't see your post? :(

Well, crap.  There aren't words to describe how much that sucks.  But thanks for letting me know.  I was certain that I was missing something, or doing something wrong.  But I guess not.  At least now I can go back to playing (I had put my game on hold while trying to figure this out, because I wanted nice screenshots from the beginning) and stop wasting time with this, and getting frustrated.

I guess we'll just have to wait and hope that the Cinematic Tools get an update.

You could do THIS. You will need to use a cheat engine with a cheat table, I use the banter one, because I suffer from that bug at times. It has a free cam option - that I use, and although not ideal, it allows for some cam movement.

Good luck - and take lots of screenshots  :D

Oh!  Thank you! :)

It looks a bit confusing (I'm not at all familiar with PC Banter Trigger or Cheat Engine) but if it allows me to have more control over the camera, I'll definitely give it a try!

But before I dive into it...  Does it automatically change anything in the game?  Or does everything stay "normal" unless I actually toggle something on?  I don't want to change or mess with the default game.  I only want control over the camera.

Also, is there any info about the camera controls (how to toggle it on/off, what keys to use, etc?)  Or is that all included in the Cheat Engine Table?

EDIT: Ummm... I'm really confused about what I'm supposed to download.  Do I just follow the instructions (and downloads) under the "Installing and Connecting" section, or do I have to download the stuff above that as well?

--------------------

EDIT 2: I think I've figured it out (mostly)

I downloaded and installed Cheat Engine 6.5, and downloaded and extracted DAI v45+Banter.CT (patch10).

1- Launch the game and load my most recent game save.

2- Tab out of the game and launch Cheat Engine.

3- Go to Settings > Debugger Options > and select: Use VEH Debugger (then click OK).

4- Go to File > Load > and browse to my extracted DAI v45+Banter.CT (then click "Yes" for the "lua script" prompt).

5- Go to File > Open Process > and select DragonAgeInquisition.exe (then click Open).

6- Click "Yes" for "Keep the current address list/code list?" prompt.

There's 2 options for the camera and 1 for the HUD.  I can select (an X-mark in the box) the "Toggle HUD [num6]" and "Free Camera [num5]".  But I can't select "Infinite Zoom [num4]".  I get an error message when I try, and then my game crashes.

So, I started all over again and just selected the Toggle HUD and Free Camera this time.  The Toggle HUD is working in-game, but the Free Camera isn't working properly (it's frozen in place while my character runs away from it), and this is probably because I wasn't able to select the X/Y/Z options in Cheat Engine.  When I try to click on those boxes, my computer makes a "ding" noise and nothing happens (the box won't take the X-mark).

Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it?

I'm really starting to believe that fate doesn't want me to take nice screenshots... :(

Yea, sorry...that site isn't as straight forward as I would like. I have another site that is clearer in instructions - Here. This will lead you through the steps a lot easier.

It doesn't change anything in your game.  I only use it for the Banter bug and the cam, and you have complete control over the toggle.

I have that same problem. The camera is fixed...and I hate it  <_< , but without Cinematic Tools, I do not have other options to provide. To try to use it to best of my ability, I maneuver my character with her back facing away from the scene I want to capture (landscapes for instance), I hit num-5 and swing the camera away from her, and use Fraps to take a screenshot. You can toggle the HUD off by pressing num-6 (for me anyway), or you use a macro for the command console.

Did you follow the troubleshooting in the DAI Cinematic Tools readme?

* If the tools don't start, try installing .Net Framework 4.5 https://www.microsof...s.aspx?id=30653
* If the console doesn't show up, try installing VC++ Redist for VS2015 https://www.microsof...s.aspx?id=48145
* If console appears, but no "GUI Found" text is seen, double check admin rights.

It is REALLY important that you have those components installed.

If you are on Windows 10, the .Net Framework should already be installed, but you can double check by following this guide.

You can easily find out your Microsoft Visual C++ versions by looking in Add/Remove Programs (in the Control Panel). If you have several games installed, you should have a bunch of these -- look for 2015.

Yep, had the same problem as she did, so downloaded the

VC++ Redist for VS2015 https://www.microsof...s.aspx?id=48145

and now am in business!

I originally, when I first ran into this problem, had troubleshooted the VC++ 2015. It was installed. You guys got me thinking, so I uninstalled it, and reinstalled...and IT WORKS!

I was so torn up over that awhile back - thanks so much for helping me rethink the issue.

Happy to have been of service!

Wish I could also help with the OP's problems but I have had no problems with the Cinematic Tools as I am comfortably using Windows 7. One thing I did encounter though, was that I couldn't get my camera to snap back when using both the Cinematic Tools and Cheat Engine at the same time. But I soon learned that I needed to uncheck Free Camera in CE as that kept it "free" so to speak. Seems logical now, but I totally hadn't seen that option at first. :')

Yeah the Free Camera in CE is okay for screen shots but, you can't get ti outside the normal areas like flycam. Still not going to risk a file my AV flags so, no flycam for me.

Basically Free Cam fixes the camera in place and you move whomever you are taking a screen shot of however close you want them.

Thanks very much for the help everyone! :)

I installed "VC++ Redist for VS2015" (and added DAI Cinematic Tools.exe to my virus/malware Exceptions, just in case) and I've finally got it working!  (sort of...)

I'm so happy I can use this now, but it's going to take some getting used to.  When I enabled it in-game, I was thrown upside down inside a mountain.  Spent about 10 mins trying to get my bearings, and trying to find my character, but never did...

Very awkward, especially since the num pad keys listed in the README aren't correct.  Some of them work, but some don't (they're controlled by different number keys that aren't even listed).  Hopefully with some practice (and a sticky note of which ones control which movement), I eventually get the hang of it.

The only thing that's truly frustrating is that the Insert key isn't working, to toggle Flycam off.  Had to log out of the game and back in again to get my game back to normal.  Is anyone else having problems with that toggle not working?

On starting the DAI Cinematic Tools, when you are given some weird view of a mountain, tab out of the game and hit reset on the controls; it may take a few tries to get it to stick.

For the numpad, be sure to have the NUM LOCK key ON.

Well either you also use Cheat Engine at the same time and therefore have to uncheck the "Free Camera" box, like I said. As it checks automatically when also starting DAI CT. Or, you have to re-adjust the Global FOV because you used PageUp and PageDown. It's located on the third tab and is a standard -1. If you turn it to -2 or 1 and then back to -1, your FOV will have reset itself.

I had issues with this too and I was aided by Rascoth through this here little post:

This happens if you change Global FOV (n other words when you use Page up and Page down to get better close-up). Getting it back to -1 should resolve the problem without having to restart the game.
