When I'm closing a rift and the demons are all around, it sounds like they are whispering "mercy" to the Inquisitior. Am I imagining it? It really sounds like they are saying that And then I feel a bit guilty for destroying them all and closing the rift.

There are definitely creepy whispers (coming from the rifts themselves) though I haven't heart anything I can make out, either from rifts or demons    I'd imagine they are unintelligible by design.

The only time I recall hearing creepy whispers is during the "find the missing scout" quest in JoH, every time I come across more dead Hakkonites.

Demons aren't wusses that would plead mercy. They would go down, sticking their middle finger at you.

Ah yeah, them too. And maybe while looking through oculara? I can't remember. Lots of things whisper creepily in DA:I apparently. Does red lyrium? Or does it hum?

Yeah, Ocularum whisper too, but not as loud as Shards. Hmm, I think Red lyrium hums, reminds me of electricity, paired with cracking ice.

It's easiest to hear if you have headphones.

i was definitely getting some odd red lyrium noises in EdL yesterday. Sounded like some weird angelic singing.

But i also got no approval from Varric for bashing his red lyrium nodes.

Perhaps he disapproved of the singing. Who knows

Maybe his approval is already maxed out?

 

That reminds me, I'm playing DAO atm and the whispering of the Shards sounded like how the Darkspawn sound in cutscenes. (just quieter)

I've kept staying really close to demons after that, but so far I only heard it once. It's quite creepy, actually.

Note: the skeptic side of me says it could very well be pareidolia. (ie: hearing words that make sense from random sounds. It's pretty common and would make sense that, after reading this thread, I would be influenced and hear it too).

That could well be it. Humans like making words out of random sounds and seeing patterns in things.

After reading this I got curious and, being away from my PS4, looked it up on YouTube.
I heard it more than once in this video!



Pretty creepy, although it's probably not intentional. That pareidolia word you guys just taught me. That's what I think it is. Still creepy.

This reminds me when people were swearing that Harbinger was shouting "save us" when it blasts Shepard.
