I'd like a toggle to first person view, but you'd probably get more votes for Mass Effect the visual novel, where you are not burdened with any gameplay.
3rd person,1st person views?

I prefer third person but I don't mind if the OPTION for first person is there for those who likes first person. I like the idea of everyone being able to enjoy the game in their own way and as long as it doesn't hurt my way of playing, then I really don't see why it shouldn't be implemented for those who likes it xD
So both would be nice ![]()

They've been around since the early 70s actually, with games like Maze War.
I knew I should've said decades instead of 90's.

No, Mass Effect has always been third person. Never once though I wish I could play in first person.

3rd person may go the way of isometric view. It'll be retro kitsch to some and something for old timers to cling to who refuse to change. Such is the way of things.
Did I slip into an alternate universe where first-person view in games hasn't been around since the 90's?
Perhaps you have but that is irrelevant. Reading past the first sentence may help your comprehension of the post unless you were simply trying to make another smarmy remark off one of my posts. The implication wasn't that FPS is new rather than as technology changes so will games.

As for character interactions, which may include romances, it looks like EA is already doing advance research into VR tech, deep learning, and neural networks aspect according to a game informer article posted to the Andromeda twitter thread.

I never understood the appeal of playing as a hand and a gun. Then again, I didn't grow up on old school PC shooters, admittedly.

You didn't actually make a case for why 1st-person would go away, so I don't see why KaiserShep needed to take the post seriously.
If you want to make that argument, now's the time.

The post was to present the links and make a simple point about how games change and some people won't or cannot change it was not to make an argument. As expected another member of the clique that stalks me would pop up.

After playing Destiny non-stop and getting a feel for it's going back and forth between first and third person view (especially when using the sword heavy weapons and supers), I'm not totally cold to the idea anymore, but Mass Effect plays so much differently that I'd rather Bio not mess with this formula.
Agreed I'd rathe rthey stick to what they do best. Yes there aer areas they can improv eand I'd rather see them improve on those first befoer adding features like this. Besides I think I'd prefer ME to stay the way it is in this instance.

No, No, No! to first person, It has never been in any of the ME, or if it was there I never used it, or looked for it.
I have simulator sickness. One of the reasons I have to break from playing, and visit the forums a lot.
The ME games are some of the few that i can play for extended periods. First person games really get to me very quickly. I can only do very short play times in them.

There's a stalking clique? I didn't receive my membership card or anything.

Uh well, I'm very much against permanent first-person for Mass Effect. But if you're just talking about something the player can toggle by holding a key/button, to get a clear, closer look at something, without the character in the way, then... yeah? I don't see anything wrong with it.

According to this website article it is planned to be 3rd-person:
http://www.masseffec...12&sf46188292=1
Don't know if it's up to date. Maybe we'll see a bit of gameplay or combat in the near future (damn just screenshots would make me happy *-*). But it's a lot of time until 2017 anyway, so i expect lots of tweaks and changes to gameplay and design until release.
Personally i can go with both first and third person. Like others said a toggle would be nice to switch between both.

1st person sucks. Why not both? Because it takes resources that should be put to better use anywhere else.

Sure you're right. Maybe if they had a lot more time and money maybe but third person suits the the game a whole lot better. You wanna play some first person sci fi, go to your local game stop and pick up halo or doom or some $#¡t.1st person sucks. Why not both? Because it takes resources that should be put to better use anywhere else.

I think we should have a toggle for it.
Also, first person romance scenes?
Kink-ayy.

And then I remember moments like these:

I would welcome an optional first-person mode, but would not want to be permanently tied to it.

I've always been more a fan of 3rd person view, especially when you're controlling a party. It's also more appealing when you actually get to choose how your character looks with different armor pieces. In 1st person view, you can't see that.
