An all male race?

I've seen conversations about the Asari and them being an all female race. I for one love the Asari race but then again I love most of the races but with some thought, it's easy to see why BioWare chose a female race instead of a male race. It's not just that they're "eye candy" but for some people it would be weird to see men pregnant and giving birth. Even though we have species / organism now where the males of the species give birth and even some don't have genders, they just breed with whomever they please, most species need a female to carry, grow and give birth to their offspring and that's just what we're used to.

But there is a way around that. In Andromeda I'm sure we'll see new species as well, so what if we did come across an all male species but they have been able to breed through females of other races. That way no one will have to feel uncomfortable about imagining men walking around pregnant and they could be good options for both same and opposite gendered relationships.

The next questions would be how they reproduce with other species. They would have to 'adapt' so they can breed with others.

What would they look like, and what would their race be called?

Asexual reproduction would be fun to watch. Like which one is the father/mother when he can get pregnant by himself?

It would be impossible so to speak. You need a female to reproduce and men cannot get pregnant unless they had a sex change.

That would be very weird, they could potentially easily take over a planet. They could reproduce whenever they felt like it. :o

Yes for many species that's true but even we have species where the males give birth and some organisms don't need a male or female, they are both gendered and can just breed. But that's why I said a little further down, this would be hard for some to imagine so they would have had to rely on females of other races to keep reproducing. That way the males don't fall pregnant themselves but they can get other species pregnant.

Why can't they be a male looking race? Big muscles, chiseled jaws, six pack abs and some killer quads.

Or they had a genetic disease that destroys all their women so they must all be artificially created in labs. The males are the only ones that survive.

There's plenty of ways to make this happen bros. step out of the box

Yeah, those are some good ideas, there are ways around it.

Namekians?

Namekians? I'm trying to imagine what face would suit that name now lol.

Asexual reproduction won't work though, because all the offspring would be clones, so all of them would look the same.

Plus, were the hanar all clones of each other? They all looked and sounded the same. Earth jellyfish can reproduce asexually.

There is an all-male fish called the squalius alburnoides whose diploid reproduces with triploid, which are female hybrids, to either produce offspring that are entirely diploid. The hybrid fish can reproduce with other hybrid fish that are male to produce more hybrids. That is as I understand it.

Although I suppose they could use sequential hermaphroditism but make it a bit more loose in science. I think they've done this before.

Namekians?

Huh, were Namekians supposed to be all male or was that just an oversight by Toriyama?

Nope they're all male. I'm fairly certain it's talked about during the Frieda saga, but I could be mistaken.

If they look like them, I can tell you now, he won't be my romance option lol. Where's Goku? I wouldn't mind that option lol!  ;)

Yeah see and imagine if our next character is human, we can try and find out if the human and their race's DNA could mix. Make another, completely new hybrid race. No harm in trying lol.  ;)

From what I've read, Akira Toriyama once said in an interview that the Namekians were hermaphrodites although I think he may have meant it more along the lines of parthenogenesis as Namekians seem to only reproduce asexually with the offspring not necessarily being a clone of the parent.

The Grand Elder Guru basically repopulated the race by himself as far as I can remember. The reproduction is basically spitting out an egg that eventually hatches into a baby Namekian from what I can recall.

Lol! Okay, I can see the appeal of the rippling muscles, stern yet gentle look, strong heroic character, soft, smooth skin. Some even like the appeal of the long ears, a little elfy but they pull it off. In that sense I can see the attraction lol. :P

That's right! Like how Piccolo was born, I suppose Bioware could come up with something similar to explain an all male race.

It's a brief exchange between Gohan, Krillan, and Dende. It doesn't suprise me that people miss it.

Not all aliens even in Milky Way get pregnant though like I think Salarians at least have eggs? ^^;

I'd be more interested seeing genderless aliens myself. That could be interesting :)
