We already had some. They were called the Geth and the Reapers (unless there is some Reaper somewhere that sounds feminine I guess. Now that is actually a interesting question. Would a Reaper made out of Asari end up sounding like a female, or do they just give them all the deafult deep intimidating voice?)

Why not..we have seen birds coupling with mammals, and vice versa. Or reptiles..so the world is open to everything. I guess..

I've seen conversations about the Asari and them being an all female race. I for one love the Asari race but then again I love most of the races but with some thought, it's easy to see why BioWare chose a female race instead of a male race. It's not just that they're "eye candy" but for some people it would be weird to see men pregnant and giving birth. Even though we have species / organism now where the males of the species give birth and even some don't have genders, they just breed with whomever they please, most species need a female to carry, grow and give birth to their offspring and that's just what we're used to.

But there is a way around that. In Andromeda I'm sure we'll see new species as well, so what if we did come across an all male species but they have been able to breed through females of other races. That way no one will have to feel uncomfortable about imagining men walking around pregnant and they could be good options for both same and opposite gendered relationships.

The next questions would be how they reproduce with other species. They would have to 'adapt' so they can breed with others.

What would they look like, and what would their race be called?

Since our beloved Pathfinder has the duty and responsibility to find humanity a new home and defend it against hostiles, a game with an alien race that has "new" breeding mechanics makes Andromeda a better game because......... ?

This doesn't look too bad to me lol.

Not all aliens even in Milky Way get pregnant though like I think Salarians at least have eggs? ^^;

I'd be more interested seeing genderless aliens myself. That could be interesting :)

I think hatching eggs might put some people off, I don't know, would have to have a vote or something.

Genderless as they can have children with any species or gender? That's close to the Asari, so would they look male or both male and female?

Yeah, then we can have a stunning beautiful Asari race and a handsome gorgeous male race, everybody wins lol.

Oh God please no. Well, that's the romance out. If he tried to romance me I'd open the airlock.

Some fun of course. What's a game if one can't have a bit of fun? B)

Okay I know you're partially joking but I just have to add this in lol.

1. I'm pretty sure that girls fill up way more than just two percent of the players.

2. Everybody does win because guys get their girls and girls get their guys.

3. It's not just straight girls but there are also bi and gay players out there who may also like this idea. :D

How about NO.

Not to mention that the Asari technically aren't females but some sort of hermaphroditic beings with the uncanny ability to reproduce by having "sex" (or whatever it is that they exactly do) with any living creature in the universe.... Eh.. yeah... Weird stuff

As Liara said, they meld their beings together basically just taking the DNA from other species no matter the gender to reproduce.

They are mainly females in look and giving birth but nothing else. A male version can easily be done, as I mentioned the males don't have to carry or give birth but can still reproduce with any species.

How about YES.

Furthermore, the asari are female: they are a monogender race and the asari seem to view themselves as female seeing as, amongst other things, they refer to each other in feminine pronouns and their titles such as huntress and matariach are the feminine version of the two respective words. Additionally, they refer to their asari offspring as daughters.

Also, the asari were initially created to fill the trope of Green-Skinned Space Babe according to the Art of Mass Effect.

That the asari can reproduce amongst each other and with other races does not make them any less female. This is because of how their reproduction method works. While their method requires a partner, they do not reproduce sexually as in the old hay-rolling way. Here is a shorter of explaination that I think is a correct summation;

"Asari reproduction takes place solely inside of the Asari itself; the purpose of melding is to add some randomization to the DNA already present in the Asari. Electrical impulses are transmitted through the skin from the father (the Asari's mate) to the mother, which help to randomize the DNA. All Asari meldings produce 100% Asari offspring, regardless of the race of the 'father'."

It's somewhat like parthenogenesis, I believe.

And interesting Idea, but I have always assumed that the asari had a decidedly female look because there might be child feeding needs required.

There is also some speculation about the human race as I understand it that the male gene is slowly disappearing in the human race, I have read some articles that say eventually the male gene will be no more.

( I think the estimates on this are like 4 million years, but hey! It could happen )

Not that I disagree with your post in general - which I don't - but from a linguistic perspective, this might actually be a false conclusion.

In ME universe, all races use translation programs (to at least some degree), so (at least in theory) it is possible that the Asari - Human translator has actually been programmed to translate those words into their feminine equivalents in Earth languages because from the perspective of the Human race, those are more prescriptive / appropriate for the Asari from humanity's (general) point of view. For a human eye, the Asari look like an all-female race, and in languages where pronouns are determined by the speaker's / subject's / object's gender, a human would use a feminine pronoun / gender-specific titles when referring to an Asari - whereas I doubt that a Salarian, for example, would categorize them according to their perceived similarity to Salarian females, because no similarities exist, and that categorization would be misleading and pointless.

When you think about it, the existence of feminine pronouns and titles in Asari culture doesn't even really make sense because they're monogendered, and having dual system based on the speaker's / subject's / object's gender would be moot.

Sorry. Language nerd.

That's also a good point. With an all male race, if they reproduce with other female species they can just let those females feed them lol. What's what men do anyway right? Lol. ;)

What, really? I hope not. I wouldn't want to see the human males disappear, whether it's four million years away or not, I wouldn't want to see that. :(

Eh, Sure... Why not? Though I'm sure not only females would enjoy the all male race.

I feel if there is an all male race, it'd be only fair to spread the love like the Asari who are romance options. Equal gender love !

But even with out a romance aspect (because the games could drop the romance and I'd still play) , an all male race would be cool. I wonder what type of society they would have hm...
