Processor: Pentium dual core E5300 2.60 GHZ
2GB ram
Nvidia Geforce 8400 GS
For some odd reason, even when playing when everything is on low, the game stutters and cutscenes even move slowly, in battle the FPS tends to drop big time.
I know this isnt the best system, but it should definitely be able to run it on medium atleast, or atleast perfectly smooth on low.
Low FPS and clunky gameplay

Have you tried the lowest possible resolution? These days games A.I uses a huge amount of computer power as well, and not just the graphics. Maybe try playing easy.

There is no "Extra Low" for a rig such as that one, and image quality setting are much less of a drain than screen resolution settings for too many pixels with such a very poor video device. Try 800 by 600 pixels.

The problem is your video card. It's simply too weak for modern games.

What card do you suggest for around 100$?
something that would work well with the current rig I have..

Assuming that you are stateside, and pay attention to the "n600" rule, here's an entire list of sub-$100 Dx10 parts to pick from. The 8400s are out, of course, too slow ("n400"), and you can add Dx10.1 / Dx11 cards to these, such as Radeon HD 4670s and HD 5670s.

Well not really, but the prices arent that different, I've heard some good things about the Geforce 9600 GT.. do you think that card is worth it for a long range-low/medium performance?

Should do, it all depends on what resolution you want to play it at. I'd also be looking at a 3.0ghz for a dual core cpu for framerates, or 2.66 for quadcore.Devilbless wrote...

FWIW, I'm on a similar system to the OP - an AMD dual core 2.8GHz with 2GB RAM, using a 9600GT with it. Dragon Age runs quite well at 1600x1050 resolution with "High" graphic and texture detail.
