I get pulled out of the immersion of a game when I see my character blocking my view. I want to have the option of having clear unencumbered vision. It's probably hoping for too much from Bioware I know, but I know I won't be able to play the game otherwise. It just bothers me too much. This is where Bethesda gets it just right, and Bioware should take note. I can't understand why Bioware insists on not adding this crucial option to their games. I can deal with all the other things that may bother me but this.

You won't be able to play the game if it's not from a first person perspective? You should look elsewhere then....

I always play 3rd person in Bethesda games.

First person view makes me sick. It's why I couldn't finish Borderlands or Bioshock Infinite, no matter how low I turned the sensitivity down. This is why games like Mass Effect and Uncharted appealed to me so much.

So I don't see it happening either.

I'm the opposite. I mostly stopped playing First Person Shooters many years ago. I always found the way FPS' have the player interact with the environment to feel incredibly artificial, which has a negative impact on my immersion. TPS works better for me.

There are occasional exceptions, if the game is something that I want to experience for reasons other then the FPS experience.

I wouldn't ask for a FPS franchise to make a TPS version of one of their games, mind you. That's a lot of development resources, and I'd rather they put that towards making their game as good as they can, even if it diminishes the likelihood that I'll play their game. There are tonnes of TPS games for me to look to, and if a FPS game comes along that compels me to play, I'd rather play one that wasn't bogged down by development costs associated with unnecessary toggles.

I'd rather they not. I like the third-person view the game gives me (totally not because I get to stare at Fem-shep's butt)

But what about the story you may ask. Well ain't no story gonna be as good as your imagination. Let's see how tough harbinger is when he gets a Fus ro dah to the face! But watch your knees though..

It shouldn't be hard to do, since Frostbite 3 has supported toggling first and third person perspectives for years now. I still wouldn't expect BioWare to do it, despite the franchise's constant drift away from RPG and towards action.  Also devs tend to get away with less details on weapons and reloading animations if it's third person, so...

http://forum.bioware...-person-views/ (this thread is on the first page, and we already had this thread at least 4 times ^^).

No thank you, motion sickness here.

I really don't see what's so great with 1st person. What's the point to create your own character if you don't even see him/her ? I love to see my Shepard ~

Then why do you want to play Mass Effect at all?

Is this a serious response? Have a good think about what you came back to me with.

Ok. You're one of those who have difficulty comprehending what they read.

I said said "option", not make it first person and take away third person. OPTION. Have both. Jesus.

First Person view could be amazing for certain things. Imagine Krogan vanguard in first person with Oculus Rift... I would never get tired of that.

A first person perspective isn't the reason why COD sucks, it would be just as terrible if it was a third person game. The reason COD sucks is because it's uninspired, self-replicating garbage meant to make the maximum amount money at the lowest possible investment.

Deus Ex is all the proof you could possibly need that RPGs can be played from a first person perspective and still be f***ing amazing. Bethseda too, if you replace "amazing" with "decent".

Ideally, the game should just have a toggle between the two perspectives and then leave it up to the player to choose. That's one thing Bethesda deserves credit for, even though their implementation isn't exactly ideal yet.

You know how irritating it is when you keep missing that nemesis with the krogan melee. Now imagine that in first person..

Honestly, I don't see the reason they can't. I hate first person shooter as it makes me sick and gives me headaches, but don't see what the harm in allowing it as an option. I just don't want it as the default.

First person view would demand different level design then third person view in ME.

It would be too much work for such option.

Except games have been able to do it for years. For example Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided were able to have a third-person map layout work in first-person, with the game going third-person when needed like hiding behind cover.

Personally I get motion sick and prefer a more zoomed out perspective.  All the way back to my WoW days I'd zoom the camera back so I didn't get so dizzy.

However others obviously feel differently, if it was an easy thing to do then why not have the option?  We don't all play the same way, just because I'd never use doesn't mean others won't.

Can't see it happening though.

Deus Ex was designed as stealth game for one person, not as action game with two squad mates.
