I would make it a full 6 man squad team insted of just 3

Yes me to the more squadmates the better i only hope if they do make it into a 6 man squad team they will make the AI a lot better and i mean a lot better.

But getting two of your squad members to get out of your way is hard enough as it is!

Yes totally true the AI really sucks in ME 1.

1. For Me it would be the 150 limit.

That was so fricking stupid, and cause me more trouble than anything else in the game.

I was so happy to finally get the game on Computer, and there is was so easy to fix what plagued me all the way through my Xbox game plays.

2. What gets me is I found them doing the same dumb thing in DAI, and what really bugs me is why? It is such a stupid thing, why have they not realized that Dedicated RPG players are all Pack Rat's. let us keep all the bobbles we pick up, after all it is our Game, and Our personal fantasy experience.

I have seen some, minor reasons why some games limit Inventory, but for the most part there is very, very seldom any reason for it except some stupid person at the design tables eats one to many glazed donuts, and blurts out "we should make the inventory smaller, cause it would really go good with the jelly donuts, what do you all think", answer " jelly donuts ? Oh! I get it, Yeah! Hey I don't have a problem with that, sure why not, it will make it so realistic, they can only carry 150, 30 pound object's sure...I like it"..... And that as they say is that, and we are stuck with it.

Character looks. Would love to be able to create something more nice.

More models fro NPCs, so they don't all look the same.

Mako driving and fighting, because it is just horrid

Combat interface with the button that usually zooms things out switching weapons (drives me to distraction). I keep wanting to zoom out so badly.

Companions AI so they feel useful.

I have never played an FPS before, and I find the interface overall very awkward. :) I am pretty sure this game is the best of what I have available to me at this moment, but I keep dropping it because I cannot adapt to playstyle. Please, don't say that 'then this game is not for you'. I really do want to play through the trilogy.

First and foremost I'd change the mechanics. I'm usually not someone to complain about mechanics, especially if the game's story is good. Though the mechanics in ME1 were atrocious. I didn't even use the power menu all that much because it did absolutely nothing for me. A lot of the controls felt cluttered, and of course, despite my love for it the Mako was horrible to drive/control. The AIs could also be tuned a bit more, so they're not always in my way. Though that's rather secondary.

I'd probably change a bit in the Character Creator. Make it so there were more options in how you stylized your Shepard. (Especially when it comes to facial/hair.) I know this was what 2007/2008, but still, they could have added a bit more options.

One of the bigger story-related things I would change would be your companions, and how much you get to interact with them. Arguably there wasn't a whole lot of character development going on. True I can pass this off as it being the first game in a trilogy, and thus not all the development was going to happen. Though most of the characters felt a bit dry in the first game. The only ones who had some depth of development were Wrex and Garrus. Wrex in that the altercation at Virmire could change his ideology, and doing his personal quest seemed to make him garner a lot more respect for the Commander. Garrus in that your own morality and dialogue options with him could sway him. (ie. All Paragon resulted him deciding he would go back to C-Sec. Which while ignored in ME2 added something to his arc when you look at ME1 on its own.)

I would have loved to see a lot more development with Ashley and Kaidan especially. I'm not saying they didn't have any, but I felt for the most part their development was very interchangeable with one another. They both offered you emotional stories - Ash about her family, and Kaidan about his time in Jump Zero. I understand that BioWare was trying to cram as much 'look how good these people are' in to make the decision on Virmire harder. But I found both of their developments fairly rushed and dull. Maybe I'm the only one though, as the emotional attachment seemed to make the decision hard for many people. Maybe I'm just a heartless zombie. Who knows.

Of course when it comes to speaking to companions (and this is something that transcends the whole series) I'd make it so that you don't automatically get hit on by anyone of the opposite sex. (So you're either guilted into committing to a relationship, or forced to turn them down.) Perhaps something like DA2 and DAI had, where the flirt options were obvious and avoidable if desired. These awkward interactions are the reason that my Male Shepard spoke primarily to male companions, and my Female Shepard to the female ones.

I'd also implement an approval system, because I feel like that was one thing that BioWare was really lacking. It'd be interesting to see how companions would react differently with different approval ratings, and how they would treat Shepard. The closest thing ME ever really gets to this is loyalty missions in ME2, and even that is a bit of a stretch in comparison.

In terms of the main plot I don't think I'd actually change all that much. It had a good structure, and didn't have too much fodder. (Or at least fodder that was mixed into the main plot, ala DAI-esque.) Saren was a good adversary, don't think I'd change a lot with him.

Maybe I'd add a "bad ending" in which, for one reason or another, you fail to stop Sovereign, and the Reapers return. Something like the "bad ending" in ME2. A game that couldn't be carried over and would force the player to go back and try again. I always find bad endings intriguing, and I don't think it would have been all that difficult to have one in ME1.

I'd remove the paragon/renegade restrictions on dialogue options so a tough, agressive renegade Shepard can like aliens and a Shepard classified as paragon due to kindness towards fellow humans can be rude to aliens
