OP's argument reminds me of this guy
68jB5z.gif

Dat N64 controller pressing against his tiny crotch...

I may have no balls, but I can feel the pain from here. No wonder he can't even say the words right.

Dude must have some balls of steel to endure this level of pain.

I think the term racist has been abused so much in this decade that its definition became inflationary.

Oh, a new word for me to use in future arguments!  Noice.

I'm not a native-speaker, but my guess is that 'xenophobe' would be appropriate.

Not entierly, although, because some people may llike alliens in general, but not roleplaying or bedding them. E.g. I like Garrus as a character and he's my femShep's best friend, but she prefers humans (and so do I). Would it count as being a xenophobe?

Not at all. ^_^  Xenophobes are societies which are intolerant with the presence of other races or species, to the point they avoid contact with them and hostilize foreigners who are in their territory.

Liking the company of specific kinds of people is simply having romantic/sexual preferences, something that's perfectly normal.

IMO, the proper word would be "biased" and the efforts to cast it in terms of anything akin to "racism" as "sensationalism."

Of course BioWare does whatever they want. It's their game. Making another human centric story is an entirely valid approach to Mass Effect that BioWare is completely entitled to use. I, like many others, think that BioWare should tone down the whole "humans are genetically the best, etc.," but they don't need to waste their time on multiple races to do that.

I don't care what your motives are. When you accuse BioWare of quote "pure laziness and incompetence" for a stylistic decision, it's simply rude.

It's only my opinion not a fact. The thing is they already gave humanity the spotlight with the Trilogy, why do they have focus in humanity again? They're are so many stories they can cook up with the franchise and not be human-centric stories all the time. As I said I really hope they know what they're doing with the storyline.

*Speciesist.

Or, more accurately *time/resource constraints.

Is there any game that isn't human-centric? Just wondering, because at the moment I can't remember any.

I don't know why you're hiding behind this as a defense. I'm not claiming that you can't have an opinion, just that believing BioWare is "flipping the bird," is idiotic. Mass Effect is BioWare's game, they're completely entitled to do whatever they want with the game. If you take offense to one of BioWare's completely reasonable stylistic choices, that's not BioWare's fault for "flipping you the bird," that's your fault for taking offense.

And there are plenty of human-centric stories they can tell as well, none of which are inherently worse than the alternative. And again, BioWare can make a non-human-centric story without multiple races.

will only allow you to play as a white man/woman with different shade of color

Just because you suck with the character creator doesn't mean Bioware is racist somehow.

That's how I see it and don't take everything I said the wrong way. And why not play multiple races? I think it would be fun if they try something new for a change and not being afraid of going outside the box, and besides they're successful with Origins of playing different races with back stories. Why not do the same with ME franchise?

Because giving us the option of playing different races (or species, in the case of Mass Effect) requires resources, which might be better spent elsewhere. In DAI, we got the race selection, but it was mostly cosmetic and the world didn't react to it. This was the most obvious if you were playing a Qunari. In Mass Effect, giving us species selection would require even more resources (because frankly, a turian and a human are more different than an elf and a human), and it would be even more disappointing if it didn't make a difference in the plot and character interactions. Limiting the protagonist to a human (or any one species, for that matter) gives the developers more freedom to add content, and is less costly to implement.

While I normally prefer to play different races in games, I agree that it's arguable a better choice to focus the resources on something else in Mass Effect, considering how extremely different the races are in ME and how 'similar' the races are in Dragon Age, both biologically and culturally. (there's a reason why you had to play a Tal Vashoth if you were a qunari)

I mean, for crying out loud, the salarians live for only 40 years and the asari for 1000 years, their experiences and the importance of time is MASSIVELY different to them.

I'm not taking anything the wrong way. I'm saying your way is incorrect. If I'm not convincing you of that, then fine, keep your opinions, but don't be surprised when no one values them.

Just read this thread. We've been providing counterpoints throughout. You can't just keep ignoring every opposing argument.

I don't expect people to agree with me so where do you get this from? If you don't like what I say that's fine if you do that's cool too.

Pretty much sums up the whole Andromeda section.

No news and no game make the fan a dull boy.

Why you just want to play as races w/ 2 arms, 2 legs, a head and a body, structurally human-alike?

Does it mean deep in your heart you agree with human supremacy?

You should consider that if you are a racist.

Have not read the whole thread as I suspect it's not a serious thread anyway.  Anywho my take on the playable race thing is that while it would have been cool to be able to make my own Krogan or Turian PC if it fits the story more to be human than I am fine with being restricted to being human.

I can sort of understand the desire to play as one of the other race's.

However The whole aspect of this game has sort of been how humanity is the paste that glues the messed up galaxy back together, so I don't see any good way to branch out, and make the commander be another race.

I am not saying it could not happen, it would just not fit the trend of the game's as they have been portrayed up to now. ( I don't think ).

With that said, I think there might be some [ providing you can get past the fact that two races born, and evolved in two totally different environments could breed ] room for a hybrid that would be easy with the Asari, but of course that would actually be Asari, genetically they would have no Human in them [ if I understood the fictional process right ].  But say a half-bred Human Krogan,  or Turian, or Drell, or Batarian, Elcor, Prothean, Hanar, Vorcha I guess you might be able to write something like that in. But it just does not seem the right course for the game to me [ But that's just my Opinion,( don't go spreading it around ) perhaps you should talk to a people person ]
