Its far more interesting being a space pirate boarding ships stealing drinking and F-ing than saving the galaxy...again.

I would love doing GTA5 style heists in space with my space pirate crew and buying lots of stuff with the money like properties and businesses. Another cookie cutter saving the galaxy from an evil threat is meh and its already been done.

It wouldn't be a good fit for a story about colonizing Andromeda, but I'd love to see a space pirate story in a sequel.

So, like AC Black Flag, where we fly around in our frigate and proceed to attack/board/loot unsuspecting ships, whenever we feel like Pirate-ing around? I'd be down with that.

I always thought it'd make for a good story following on from ME3. Maybe not quite a pirate, but a private crew flying about the galaxy as it tries to rebuild after the war.

As long as it's a human-only protagonist in 3rd person view;)

i agree like salvaging parts and selling them, half space pirate, half space scavenger.

I would've liked this before..Either that or just Spectre who acts like a pirate. :D I never really wanted the Reapers to begin with.

Well for now just play AC4: Black Flag on mute with Star Wars music blaring in the background.

Worth it just to shut up those darn sea shanting pirates.

There's always the sequel.

I bet there will be plenty of space booty for you to chase.

I'd rather be something akin to a bounty hunter, like Spike Spiegel than anything like a pirate. Space cowboy > pirate.

Another troll post? Quarian Princess?

This is BioWare we are talking about. Every game going back to Baldur's Gate as always had the player as the hero saving the world/galaxy. Mass Effect Andromeda won't change that and BioWare will never change.

Well, considering we'll be playing human, the Renegade option could be more about taking what you want (i.e. past colonialism in world history), bugger good public relations. I'm not sure how well ship-boarding would work but i imagine a renegade Ryder would find a way.

I have to say I'm not that much exited about being a "destined hero" related to military and the law (or at least going toward the "greater good"). I would have liked much more the underdog indipendent space ship story, like in Firefly.

Personally, I'd like to be the imperious, well spoken, impeccably dressed agent of The Establishment (whatever that happens to be) that hunts and executes the pirates, terrorists, traitors and other criminal scum. Grand Moff Tarkin in an envirosuit would be an adequate metaphor.

It's likely we will just get some big dumb idiot grunt who's inexplicably responsible for saving the universe again, though.

I would love something like this. Especially if they have Tarkin's accent and are a bit older than usual bioware protaganists (like late 30s or early 40s at least).

While true, there is no reason why the devs couldn't craft a story around an antihero. The main quest also doesn't necessarily need to be about saving the Galaxy.

You can be a space pirate in no mans sky. Or a trader, or just an explorer.

I however still want some order to Mass a Effect, and not be turned into Firefly: the video game.

That's why ME3MP works with head canon so well.   They don't always play by the rules, or rather, play fast and loose with them.  The little short intro that they got was plenty enough to start.   I see no reason that Andromeda MP can't be the same.

The MEU is fertile ground for any type of story or narrative. I wish they'd steer away from the trilogy template for the foreseeable future. Just tell standalone stories and jump around the established timeline.

Maybe go back to the Milky Way pre-Reaper Invasion, play as a space pirate in a rag-tag crew set in the familiar universe we know and love (possibly seeing places we've only heard about or seen in passing but have never truly been able to explore for ourselves), or a C-Sec officer forced to go undercover in order to take down a crime syndicate that has its ties from the Presidium to the seedy underbelly of the Wards in a game set solely on the Citadel....

As for Andromeda, I hope they get a lot more weird and different. They gotta change up the narrative. Being a cosmic savior is tired. I'm bored with being judge, jury and executioner of the entire galaxy. Time for something new.
