The MEU is fertile ground for any type of story or narrative. I wish they'd steer away from the trilogy template for the foreseeable future. Just tell standalone stories and jump around the established timeline.
Maybe go back to the Milky Way pre-Reaper Invasion, play as a space pirate in a rag-tag crew set in the familiar universe we know and love (possibly seeing places we've only heard about or seen in passing but have never truly been able to explore for ourselves), or a C-Sec officer forced to go undercover in order to take down a crime syndicate that has its ties from the Presidium to the seedy underbelly of the Wards in a game set solely on the Citadel....
As for Andromeda, I hope they get a lot more weird and different. They gotta change up the narrative. Being a cosmic savior is tired. I'm bored with being judge, jury and executioner of the entire galaxy. Time for something new.
Ya know what I'd like to see? A game come that has the Shadow Of Mordor type of boss replacement system and be in the MEU.
Think about it? Different types of aliens being the bosses? An asari commando one time, a volus banker/biotic god the next, followed up by a krogan battlemaster who runs the bloodpack on Omega. That would kick ass.
Of course, maybe that's what they're doing. Maybe that's why the game has been delayed. Maybe maybe.
EDIT : Think about it, space battles, they gotta have bosses as captains, right? They gotta have a consistent flow, right?
I'd rather be a space cowboy.
The exploration focus opens many doors for us. Our focus is discoveries. This allows players to be as good or as bad as they want.
I want my N7 to be the Negan of the ME universe.
I've always argued that smaller scale stories are both easier to write and to immerse yourself into. I'm not sure that this applies when the previous entries were all about saving the galaxy, but Mass Effect is special in that the three first games were always intended to be the only ones.
You can be a space pirate in no mans sky. Or a trader, or just an explorer.
I however still want some order to Mass a Effect, and not be turned into Firefly: the video game.
I want Firefly the Video Game!
A "space pirate" type of game wouldn't really work for a lengthy, 30+ hour game like BioWare typically makes. How long does it take for something like that to get stale? …
I [think] there's many o' AC4 scallywags who would speak otherwise, while taking over another ship.

I love AC4, but it's about 15 hours long. It also has more going on than just the pirate angle. The douchebag criminal protagonist gets caught up in something greater, and eventually chooses to turn his back on his old life.
It would need to develop and play out a bit differently in a BioWare RPG; but that's essentially the exact plot I'd described for a space pirate game. It's the only plot you could even think of trying to sell. Anything else would be too big a risk. I think even this would be too big a risk for a ME game. It works for AC because historical tourism is their thing. I suspect only ME fans would be lining up to play a ME space pirate game.
I think a Renegade pathfinder would entertain gathering booty while undermining, i mean, "working with" the new alien cultures. Though, realistically at this point, the "boarding" options would likely be limited to attack and pillaging of planet settlements, with a few space skirmishes since the Mako's taking up such a pivotal role.
Oh, and yarrr.
I was pretty sure I was going to end up being the first person to link this.
Mass Effect needs more evil.
