Salute. I started playing DA 2 days ago. Ive promoted my avvar 4 times and a mage 2 times.

And ive seen other Avvars solo Perilous  with ease.. But i still get 2-3 shotted by the mobs, And was wondering if im doing something wrong. I use Hakkon's Charge in the beginning of the pull to get some armor, then i toss Korth's Might to get additional armor. And then Crushing Leap etc.

Gear:

Weapon - Greatsword of the Dragon - Superb Frost Rune.

Armor - Drakescale - +3 Constitution, +12% Heal Bonus (Dont know if it buffs the heal from the sword).

Neck - Amulet of Strenght.

Belt - Belt of Urgency

Rings - Ring of Armor Penetration - Enhanced Korth's Might Ring.

Talents:

http://da-skills.net...0,110,010,011,0

Im trying to stack armor as much as possible but it still feels like Ranged takes it down with 1-2 shots. And then im gone.

Regards

Ive promoted my avvar 4 times and a mage 2 times.

You need at least 90 constitution to survive on solo perilous.

Advice, don't worry about armor.
Avvar is an amazing glass cannon. Build him for the most damage. You want to deal fast, powerful strikes.

Yeah, you need a lot of promotes for Avvar.  If he still feels too squishy in Perilous, then play him in threatening until you get more promotes.  I can't put my finger on how many promotes you need (and you likely need them spread across all stats), but at some point you will be able to rule with him in Perilous, once you get by the first several levels each time.

Do you have Drakescale armor yet? You need the best armor to have a chance in Perilous without promotions. More Heal on Kill would help too. I don't think the 8% or whatever is on your greatsword is enough.

Your build is fine. But, since you're new I'd recommend leveling this way:

Level 2: Elemental Affinity(Korth's Might Upgrade)

Level 3: Swift Winds(Hakkon's Charge Upgrade)

Level 4: Coup De Grace

Level 5: Deep Reserves

Level 6: Elemental Fury

Level 7: Lady's Wrath

Level 8: Lasting Storm(Lady's Wrath Upgrade)

Level 9: Scenting Blood

Level 10: It'll Cost You

Level 11: Resilience

Level 12: Bear Mauls the Wolves

Level 13: Chilled Defense

Level 14: Rage of the Avvar

Level 15: Guarded Rage(Rage of the Avvar Upgrade)

Level 16: Elemental Attunement

Last few levels are up to you. I like the stamina passives.

Nah. You really don't.

Avvar is definitely the best mage in the game.

I followed Proto's advice and got chilled defense, range of Avvar, and I still feel "squishy" in Perilous. :P   No problem in a group, but soloing I still have to watch out or could die.. and I have almost 150 con 150 cunnings.   I have a 16 con mod on drakescale so technically speaking I got 166 con which is already maxed melee defense.   Lets just say that it is easy to solo perilous with a level 1 katari than a level 10 avvar. :P   And level 6 reaver trumps them all.   Level 1 templar and lego could solo perilous but take forever.

My resolution is to not play Avvar until I got 400 con 400 wp LOL :D

I have 131 con. Avvar is a killing machine on Perilous. Sometimes Ladys Warth kills even being chain knocked down.

He has become one of my favorites.

With a good group, I can survive pretty well on Perilous with my Avvar, and I'm at 59 Con atm (don't play too often, though I've been playing since launch).  Play smart and you should be able to do decently until your promotions get higher.

If you only have a handful of promotes and you are not running with a good group with a group whith same stats and taking it slow maybe you should consider routine or thretening :D

Avvar doesn't occur to me as having obscene damage, even though his damage is pretty good if you treat him as a mage, but he got very good aoe and low CD which sort of makes up for this.

If you want speed runs, go with reaver IMO. Although she doesn't walk very fast which is a pain...

That's how I feel too, but I guess if your willpower is 400+ then it is easier to have AoE damage to just charge/leap around and things fall down dead.   Then when you get to the boss, you will need the 400 con.. because either you kill the boss before everything else is dead, or you won't have any food to feed your HP.  :P

In my early days I have seen some really highly promoted Avvar get really angry if PUG kills things around him.   It takes away his HoK food.  And then if they die he won't revive them because they shouldn't be killing things around him.   That kind of turn me away from Avvar.

In my opinion, you will need to make sure the group you are running with on perilous has some sort of crowd control or at least an aggro stealing beast ie; arcane warrior, lego, elementalist. You can't stand in the middle of a pack and take hits from all around until your stats get pretty high up there. Proto is right with the adding HoK, I think you would want at least 20% so that you aren't relying on your guard to keep you up. Guard only gives you 1.5 x your health, and while your constitution is low, thats not going to give you much on an avvar, as his base health is pretty low in comparison with other warriors. Keep in mind Con=melee def, Cun=Ranged Def, and WP= magic def. You will definitely need 10/20 promotes on each to start seeing a difference in damage taken. Other than that, I would say give the Avvar a chance as a 2nd Striker, meaning don't head into battle first, let another damage class get a couple licks off then charge in and blast with Crushing Leap. Tough class to play on low promotes, but still fun. Good luck! Reaver was almost my first warrior I fell in love with, as the tradeoff between health and crazy damage is a fun balance to practice. BTW, Proto has some really good videos to check out on youtube, watched his Avvar video before and that will show you really good tactics.

The more mobs around, the best for Avvar. He needs them for HoK, guard generation by Hakkon Charge and resistance by chilled defense.

With 100+ con and a Hakkon Valor he is beast on Perilous. Just facetank everything. It's hell of fun.

I tried it once but I can't facetank the revenant.  I have to pop a rock armor pot and then I came out half limping. :P

I don't know I must be!  I watched your video on Perilous solo with no promotion.. my Avvar can't do that with about 150/110/150....with Hakkon and PI...  :P

I can solo the revenant with any other warrior at level 1 easily.. can't do it with Avvar.  I guess I could if I don't pop the rock pot.. but outcome depends on lag. :P  If I start with no guard, his 3 attacks could take out 30% HP... will have to time it to charge him. and hope he dies before he hits me too many times.   This is without Rage of Avvar or Chill Defense though.

Facetanking the Revenant can hurt quite a bit. Would using Hakkon's Charge to travel through the revenant just out of his swinging range give enough time to swing once or twice before repeating? And can the swing on Hakkon's Charge be cancelled to further speed up this action? I try and take advantage of the Revenant's sluggish walking pace when not swinging his Epeen at your character.

But the idea is to facetank :D  Because if not facetanking, I could solo him with my level 1 keeper.... with PI he can't grip me at all.   The thing is that my lv 2 AW could facetank the revenant in NM.   It bugs me that the Avvar can't do it at perilous.

Dumb question, but Revenant's damage is like Arcane Warrior's Spirit Blade? Spirit damage instead of physical?
