Just spit-balling a free forming idea here, but If MEA has possible colonization elements then maybe there could be some sort of rudimentary space farming mini game and or side questing.
Space Farming in MEA?

Like growing potatoes in your own crap and having it not explode in your face.

I'd rather have my pawns companions do all that mundane stuff. I didn't go to space to farm, I can do that on Earf.

I already didn't like going around farming resources in Inquisition.
So I definitely don't want them to attach a mini-game to doing it.

The only Bioware game where I even slightly enjoyed the process of resource farming was ME2, so I'm wary of anything more elaborate than that.

There's a game called Farming Simulator. It would be right up your alley. ![]()

Naw. I'm not going to pay money to sit around and watch potatoes grow, bro. You can do that for free in Farmville. You know, if you want to.
I don't.

Maybe if it's more like managing my own little group of collonists and explorers like the Keep in Neverwinter nights 2, Crossroads keep I think it was called.
Making decisions, allocating resources, seeing, hearing about people moving in and merchant convoys passing by bringing in "profits" for reinvestment. Setting up added defences and troops. Securing spaceways and the areas of itnerest in your little region.
I could see the player being one of many exporer groups who manages settlements but unlike most of your NPC allies/rivals you endup furthest out on the frontlines, where the risks are high but there might also be some interesting opportunities in your sphere of interest.
While the new council might have the main settlement that might seem like a Jewel compared to the smaller settlements on less attractive worlds.
Then you fly around scouting out enemies, finding allies and trading partners and fighting space pirates and doing some privateering of your own on "Enemy convoys". And then you got that secret about that "ancient race" that left stuff behind, which might help save you in a conflict against a far more established alien enemy that wants to see you erradicated.
Maybe salvage some ancient defence satelites and ground to space satelites, maybe a few patrolcrafts and warships...(for local defence) Hire some mercenaries when you havn't got the personel to manage all your activities, strike a deal with alien supplies for supplies and/or services. Figuring out something to offer in return to pay for it.. Finding hidden treasures or pirate hordes(kind of like raiding Dragon dwellings in Neverwinter nights 2 and sending the horde back home)
It would be nice to get some variation on the mission rather than getting too stuck on that one enemy, or being an archeologist. I did like some of the side mission in ME2 that wern't actually related to the main Quest or Crew missions. It made the Universe seem bigger than your own little issues. Now you made issues for a bunch of random merchenaries that were up to no good.
I wouldn't want it to be required for the player to go around tending potted plants to "win" the game, unless you choose to do so for little extras and because you like poking at things..

I actually like the idea....because is a different galaxy could be interesting to grow different and alien species...how about crossing different species to obtain useful vegetables and plants useful during combat, like incredibly fast growing plants that can block an enemy for a while, or that allow to climb up walls...the opportunities could be multiple....
Also an alien flora would add mystery to the setting of the game...so cool for me!
thank you for posting the idea.

Wait, wait, wait, you mean... crop farming? With, like, seeds? Or just resource gathering?
I'm fine with resource collecting, but actual, literal farming just...nope.

We could make our own moonshine from taters and sell it to the aliens. Drugs, too! MassEffect: Crimelord DLC confirmed.

I don't mind resource farming, but only on the first play-through. After we complete the game we should get infinite resources.
First play-through is for the full experience, usually the subsequent play-throughs are for pure game-play.

So... Fallout 4 in space?
In terms of settlement building, why not?
I doubt it will be as detailed as Fallout 4 but it will be something.

I can see it now. You scan a planet, send down a team (not really, you get an animation of a shuttle going down to the planet like the probes in ME2 and ME3) then after you wait long enough (or play enough MP) you get some credits, colony score and thank you email for colonizing the planet.

No thanks. Didn't enjoy farming resources in Inquisition and I definitely didn't like planet scanning in ME2. I'd rather leave the farming to the colonists while I go off on adventures and goomba stomp aliens in my Mako.

I could see a small colony with serious issues and security problems electing an unexpected person to speak for them and be their governor and bring a message back to the council or whoever the governing body of the colonists from the milkyway will be.
I don't see the player doing any serious farming though, possibly a potted plant, it would be like the fishtank... Water it, then get an automated watering system to order or convince someone to do it for you.
