How do you like the idea of actually tying the knot? It was actually a possibility in DAI. For some reasons, you can only get married as women. The guys kinda got the short end on that. I wanted to marry Cassandra, but alas, it didn't happen though. There was a big thread on marriage on the DA page before it releases. I think it influences the decision to include it as an option for female inquisitor in the game. It's just a suggestion, not a demand, of course. I just like the idea of marriage. I find it pretty romantic. In hindsight, maybe I should have played as a female Inquisitor since they get extra options and marriage.

With that being said, I'm preparing for a lot of ridicule posts now. Hopefully, some may post actual opinions. :P

Only indifference would come to my mind whether they decided to put a marriage option in or not.

I think it implies a certain slowness of pace that I'd rather not contemplate in connection with MEA. I want my protagonist to be too busy for in-game marriage. He or she can discuss plans for the future with an LI; but likely it wouldn't go much further in-game, barring a very hurried, spur of the moment affair.

Romance arcs add a little character depth and development, for me; but this goes way beyond my general level of interest.

If the game carried over like a Mass Effect trilogy, it could actually be interesting, like getting the know each other in the first game, falling in love in the second game, and getting married in the third game. Still, in a world where you could die at any moment, I would say we should enjoy whatever life has to offer, no matter how little it may be.

I would love for them to have an option for you to marry your love interest.

I'd dig a mission where the PC is the perpetrator of it.

I think marriage would make the most sense if you let the player propose to their LI during the game, and then have the wedding in the epilogue.

Or Blue Valentine

No but seriously I'd love this, and not done cheaply like fable. I'd like to have a marriage option to where I could invite friends from the multiplayer to come and participate in my marriage to an NPC. Lol and pictures so I can post to facebook

This is why it's always good to play a biotic. Or, barring that, to pack a Talon under your suit jacket. You never know what might hop off at a wedding in Andromeda.

Well, I hope it's on-screen, and not just a dialogue, especially considering how the game may carry over to ME 5, a lot of people expecting for their protagonist to be the same for the next game instead of changing them up. It would be such a disappointment if they suddenly change it to the next game instead. I actually like a marriage scene over a sex scene since the game lacks a lot of romantic moments. Those who scoffed at the suggestion of a marriage scene may be the same people who like sex scenes. There's no reason why we could not have both, but some people may prefer for something deep and meaningful outside of sex, I guess.

Is this what happened with DAI? I played DAI to completion only once, and there was definitely no wedding; but now I keep hearing talk of weddings. I'm assuming this happened in DLC or added epilogues I haven't seen.

It's in the Tresspasser, but you could only marry if you play as female protagonist, you could get marry to Sera and Cullen. I wanted to marry Cassandra, but I can't. Considering how she's in love with love and always fall head over heels about romance, she should have been a prime candidate for getting married. Those who romance her, most likely wouldn't have made her into a divine. It should have been an option for them.

Josephine too. Her entire romance was something out of a fairy tale and/or swashbuckler story, so it would have been perfect to have them get married in Trespasser or at least become engaged. But the subject is never even brought up once other than by Cassandra who had been deceived by Varric.

I think a wedding is a lot more reasonable if we're looking at another series, in lieu of a stand alone game. Then, there could be a gradual, logical build up toward such an event.

Using Shepard as an example, I don't think Shep knew his LI well enough to marry. He potentially met them in ME1, "dated" for a few months while on duty, and then he died. He returned 2 years later, reunited about 6 months after that, and... Everyone is different, but that's too much broken, inconsistent time to even consider marriage, in my opinion. The divorce rate is astronomical for a reason, I guess.

Wow. That's the most "serious talk" I've ever invested into one of these threads. I think it's time for sleep. ;)

That is surprising. Josephine and Cassandra were definitely the type of ladies who would marry. I'm sure there are disappointed fans in the DAI forum.

I know I am. I've been wanting an option to marry a LI for years, and Josephine seemed like I would finally get that. But alas, you never even get to bring it up with her. The rest of her romance was perfect for me, so it was especially depressing to see it fumble at the end like that.

Considered it's a giant open world game, the time passage may be different, and it may be even a year for the the game. I know many people getting married in half a year or marry after hooking up and stuffs, but it's not really what I refer to as romantic. Anyway, the dating period can be differed wildly, but considering that these people are at war where they could die at any moment, I don't think anyone could afford the luxury of dating many many years.

Divorce rate is extremely high in the U.S., but in other countries like Asia, it's really low, and many stay with each other for life. It may have to do with the culture rather than blaming it on any particular reason.

Josephine was the LI I chose in my only full playthrough. (I would've chosen Cassandra on a second, but I just hate the gameplay too much to do it all again. :( ) Her arc was refreshing and sweet. I did enjoy it. I'm shocked it didn't end in marriage. I half expected a proposal in the main game itself. They messed up on that one.

Same with any save in which Cass isn't the Divine. How does she not end up married?!

If I remember it correctly, most of the people who support marriage in DAI thread back before the game was released are females and marriage was a pretty popular mod for Alistair for DAO. Maybe they don't think guys care about marriage or something? I don't know, but it sucks that only female protagonists can get married. Marrying Cassandra as a guy, or as a guy or a girl with Josephine would have been perfect. Afterall, Josephine would have gotten married if you're not into a romance with her, you fought to turn away the suitor, but now that you got her, you can't get married to her. It's a bit disheartening how the gay romances are being treated so casual as well. Dorian thought you slept with him as a hook up, not because you are in love with him, that's a common problem with gay relationship in general. Iron Bull was very indifferent about marriage, no cutscene or whatever, basically, marriage? Yeah, whatever. It's not the kind of response from someone I want to share the rest of my life weith.

Good points.

I'm sure they took note of how well received the romance arcs from DAI were. They were much better written than those in the ME trilogy, so you may have hope for a tasteful arc in MEA. Maybe you'll even see one that can end in marriage.

Yeah. However I can see the writer's reasoning for not having her actually marry you in the DLC. The reason is that since Josephine is so close to her family, she wouldn't want to get married without them present. However that still doesn't excuse why you can't even bring it up while you can with most other romances.
