Only if it ends like the Red Wedding.

It should be better than the Red Wedding.

I think marriage would make the most sense if you let the player propose to their LI during the game, and then have the wedding in the epilogue.

I'm trying to think of any TV series or game where a marriage scene between two major characters wasn't schmaltzy, and other than grim dark GOT weddings I am drawing a blank. I'm not confident Bioware could pull it off without the entire thing being covered in cheese, so I like your suggestion of leaving it to an epilogue. It's a lot harder to **** up a narrated still frame.

What's your definition of a non-cheese wedding? A traditional wedding is basically cheesy, isn't it? Since it's lovely dovey, exchanging of vows, and stuffs. How could they make it not cheesy? Having a hard metal wedding while you dress up as Klingon?

That's the issue, though. Weddings might be great for the people involved, but don't make for interesting viewing.

Besides, probably around half of the LIs won't be human. Their cultures should have something completely different from a traditional Western marriage ceremony. The writers having an Asari for example getting married in a white gown while a church organ pipes Here Comes the Bride would be really unimaginative.

Since you mentioned it, having the scene be the wedding ceremony of the alien race would be fascinating. It could give us a glimpse of a usually unseen part of their culture and beliefs.

They may have their own version of weddings, and besides, who said the aliens don't get married for the purpose of their spouse? There are many people in real life who don't believe in marriage but get married for the sake of their spouse. There are many people who are of different faith, and they may even have 2 different weddings or just decide on one they're both comfortable with.

You said it yourself, marriage is great for people involved, and the ones involved are the ones playing the game, and they themselves choose to to get married to their LI, wouldn't it be interesting for them since they're the ones involved? It's cheesy and sweet and it's aimed at the player, so what's exactly is the problem? Who's viewing it besides the players that make them not interesting?

I would actually like this. More so in a sci-fi game like Mass Effect. We could have some strange, weird, interesting takes on marriage, instead of just "I do".

It will be frowned upon on the Ark. The magistrate doesn't endorse this outdated behaviour. Use your cerebral stimulators to satisfy upwelling animal needs.

I think ME:A would have to be another trilogy. To get from first date to marriage in one game would be... pushing it.

I'm not personally a fan of marriage, though like you I could certainly do without the silly sex scenes. I think I simply prefer the dialogue, the getting to know this character, the smiling and occasionally squeeing as you finally get to kiss in that one penultimate scene lol

Marriage is like... real life. Ugh. Yeah I'll stick to happy romance :P

I guess it's just be nice to see more gay marriage happening though. It's so rare though, and the only one I can recall on the top of my head would be Stardew Valley, Fire Emblem Fates, Skyrim, and Fallout 2.

It's just basically an option for people who like it. I know plenty of people who don't believe in marriage and that's fine, too, but some romanticized about getting married to someone. It's just something special about declaring that person yours. That's just me though. I know it's not for everyone.

I do support more private moment though. I like that you could ask someone to hang in your room in ME2, little moments go a long way like random kisses on the battlefield on DAO, something I wish DA would bring back some days.

Ain't nobody got time for that.

I dunno, man. Maybe if the setting is right. Mass Effect games usually have too much going on to take into consideration things as...normal...as marriage.

Depending, ME3 has an entire DLC dedicated to a vacation, DAI's Trespasser DLC also has a spa day and stuffs. Fallout 2 has a marriage in a post apocalypse setting, Skyrim you can get married in a Medieval setting despite the chaos that is going on in the background. ME4 will has more or less of an open world, which means many random sidequest and similar things, there are definitely downtown or part of a sidequest to get married, or even get married post game.

I don't know, it did kind of fit in Dragon Age but in Mass Effect it would be kind of weird, especially with all the different alien races and cultures. I'm not a huge fan of marriage in general so I won't be bothered either way.

Would it be different than marrying a Dalish elf or a qunari? They all have different cultures and may not even have traditional marriage. I don't think there's any special requirement for standing in front of the altar or something. As I said, not everyone may have the same traditional marriage idea, but they may do it for their partner or something, it happens in real life.

Maybe our protagonist will have to marry one of the natives of Andromeda to cement an alliance as well as consummate it.  :P

As for fascinating alien wedding ceremonies, one of my favorites:

Must also have bachelor/bachelorette party as well.

I would love the option. I don't think every LI should be open to a marriage (it should depend on their personality/background/beliefs), nor that it should be the endgoal of a romance, but an option to certain romances? Yes. Definitely.

I don't see the harm in having the option. The important thing is to not having it undermine the romance itself.

For me it would be YES! I am a romantic chick after all. I really enjoy the romances in BioWare games (I really enjoyed my wedding with Cully Wully!). It makes the game more real. In our real life we seek for love too, don't we? And most of us also gets married eventually.

But it also depands on the Andromeda story - the time period (like marrying someone after couple of months is not that realistic - if the protagonist and its LI don't do it drunk after a party :D), the background of the characters etc. It may not match in the story of this particular ME.

I would still welcome that option tho. As I said. Romantic chick :D

How about a forced marriage where you marry the leader of a race's daughter for peaceful relations with that species.
In the end she turns out to be the coolest ally and you overthrow their current gov and establish a new with her in charge.
This is where she gives you a kiss and gives you the option to stay or go pursue another LI.

Well, no offense, but ME universe is from future. This, what you suggest, is veeeery outdated (in most of the civilized world anyway). And that for today. We don't force people to marry someone to achieve an alliance (would be funny to see Merkel marry Putin tho).

How do you like the idea of actually tying the knot? It was actually a possibility in DAI. For some reasons, you can only get married as women. The guys kinda got the short end on that. I wanted to marry Cassandra, but alas, it didn't happen though. There was a big thread on marriage on the DA page before it releases. I think it influences the decision to include it as an option for female inquisitor in the game. It's just a suggestion, not a demand, of course. I just like the idea of marriage. I find it pretty romantic. In hindsight, maybe I should have played as a female Inquisitor since they get extra options and marriage.

With that being said, I'm preparing for a lot of ridicule posts now. Hopefully, some may post actual opinions. :P

Only if my character can have "make up" *** whenever i want. Or just as quirky, be able to have a Vegas Wedding. ;)

I'm personally not particularly fond of marriages and my Inquisitor ended up flat out denying Cullen's offer in DA:I, but I wouldn't mind the option to be there and preferably spread more evenly over the companions. (I do have some Inquisitors - and possibly also some Ryders - who would be up for marriage, but only my Seramancer would see that come to fruition)
