Yes please.

So far, from what we know of ME:A, there isn't really an against the clock plot or premise, so pacing shouldn't really be too much of an issue in regards to the development of a romance that could culminate in marriage. Whether all in Andromeda, or carried across into sequels, I'm not sure. Either one I'd appreciate.

Plus, there is something beautiful and romantic about space and that sense of exploration and the unknown. A whole lot of beautiful planets to choose from for a setting...

Ok, I'm gushing.

But I would love it if there were an option for a sci-fi wedding in Andromeda. And inclusive. Not just for female protagonists. Male protags. LGBT protags. Alien protags... oh, wait...

And the idea of seeing an alien marriage ceremony sounds awesome too.

I don't know, it did kind of fit in Dragon Age but in Mass Effect it would be kind of weird, especially with all the different alien races and cultures. I'm not a huge fan of marriage in general so I won't be bothered either way.

I don't care for marriage but this argument makes zero sense.

As for fascinating alien wedding ceremonies, one of my favorites:

Best Star Trek couple ever <3

I still argue that it would be difficult to focus enough attention on a relationship so that it feels very organic to go from first meeting to marriage all in one game. I've never encountered a game or, for that matter, a movie that could do it properly. But I'm crossing my fingers that MEA will be another trilogy, so I can have a repeat of the M!Shenko relationship <3 I want to meet in the first game, maybe have some sort of strife in the second, then confess feelings in the third... squee... my kind of slow burn romance lol

What about Polygamy? I shouldn't be oppressed and denied the ability to share my prodigious capacity for love by society's monogamous prejudices.

I already have several partners in mind.

How do you like the idea of actually tying the knot? It was actually a possibility in DAI. For some reasons, you can only get married as women. The guys kinda got the short end on that. I wanted to marry Cassandra, but alas, it didn't happen though. There was a big thread on marriage on the DA page before it releases. I think it influences the decision to include it as an option for female inquisitor in the game. It's just a suggestion, not a demand, of course. I just like the idea of marriage. I find it pretty romantic. In hindsight, maybe I should have played as a female Inquisitor since they get extra options and marriage.

With that being said, I'm preparing for a lot of ridicule posts now. Hopefully, some may post actual opinions. :P

If it's done well like the DA ones were then yes I'm all for it I really loved the way Cullen's romance turned out having so much go wrong in his life it was nice to see something good happen for him for once.  If anyone in the DA universe needed something good to cdome out of the mess he found himself in it was him given what he went through in both DAO and DA2.

I thought it was fun in Dragon Age, but to be honest, I'd probably be happier if our PC can get a personal space, much like Shepard can with the apartment in the Citadel DLC, and the companion you choose can simply move in and perhaps the living space can change based on each companion, like decor might differ, like if one favored artwork and so forth.

Taking some "friendly fire" from Han'Gerrel is one thing, but I don't have an actual death wish.  Dem hips are sturdy, but they ain't rated for 800lbs of pure krogan.

Meh, I didn't think it steered Star Wars: The Old Republic into dating sim territory. I felt it worked quite nicely there and could work quite nicely here depending on how they implement it.

I think marriage would make the most sense if you let the player propose to their LI during the game, and then have the wedding in the epilogue.

That's the only way I'd want it, as a little heartwarming extra that is optional and mentioned at the end of the game.

Putting an actual wedding into a ME game is way too Sims for me, that's not what ME is about in my mind as it's light on the RPG elements.  We're there to save the galaxy, not play house.

Mass Effect focuses more on RPG back in ME1, but they change the focus more on shooter in subsequent games. DLC like citadel which focuses on relaxing and hanging out with the companions in ME3 was one of the most likes DLC from the fans, and some even considered it the "real" ending.

Do you consider Skyrim to be too much Sims? It's being considered one of the best RPG, but it has a house building aspect, hire a butler, hirea personal bard, decorating the house, etc, then we can get married, move in together, and having children. In an open world game, it may not be an bad idea to have some other focuses outside of the combat.

I like the little moments you have with squad mates in Citadel DLC, I just feel like an actual marriage in the game would be a bit much for Mass Effect, it isn't as much of an RPG experience as Dragon Age.

I played Skyrim but not extensively, I never built a house or had kids.  As an open world game with tonnes of mods marriage fits a little better.

As I said, if it was an epilogue or a very short scene at the end of the game then I'm good with that, but not making a big deal of it or having the marriage be part of the plot.  It just doesn't fit for me.  BioWare are hit and miss when they try and be soppy.   Sometimes they nail it, and other times I'm cringing at how forced it is.

I haven't played those romance routes in Trespasser but I would hardly call DAI a dating sim. Plus marriage isn't really "playing house"; a couple can be married and still continue to kick ass on the battlefield.

I see this as an argument AGAINST its inclusion in MEA though; Skyrim is such a bland game in terms of storytelling and characters; you almost do have to play house to make it interesting. I'm sure I'm not the only one who spends most of my time using mods to create the most beautiful houses and adopt the most children and pets I can possibly stuff inside them...

So true; it's usually their amazing voice actors they hire who save the day. The writing is often incredibly cheesy.

You see why Skyrim has so much appeal? There is something for everyone. Having more open world options that could appeal to different people help create a sense of choices in the game. Mass Effect is likely approaching the open world with ME4 as well, similar to DAI. The majority of people who play Skyrim is on console where you can't even mod. How would be it too much? How would that scene where you go to a funeral or go on dates with your LI be anymore or less than getting married?

It's not part of the plot, it's part of the romance arc for some characters. I actually like cheesy and romantic moments in Bioware games. I wish gay romances were as cheesy as the straight female's romances which are usually more sappy. I often said that they need to write gay romance as straight female romance or at least try to, it's so lacking in romance for all the gay options, compared to Kaidan where they ripped off the written romance from femShep.

You did ask what ppl thought about the idea.  I simply wouldn't want them to include marriage in a Mass Effect game, it's a bit too much for my particular tastes is all.  I like the linear, story driven plot of the Mass Effect games with a little sprinkling of romances and friendships.  I don't want to build a house and have kids and get married in ME.  It's just not my thing and I'd worry it could undermine the games.

Plenty of ppl think Citadel DLC went too far with the schmaltz, add marriage and you alienate all of them.

Oh no me neither, I wouldn't call DAI a dating sim, you got the wrong end of the stick.   I love the romances in DAI, they're just right.  The little bonus in Trespasser is fine with me as it's the end of the game, a DLC, and the end of the Inquisitor's journey.  And also 2 years later.  So I'm fine with that.
