You did ask what ppl thought about the idea.  I simply wouldn't want them to include marriage in a Mass Effect game, it's a bit too much for my particular tastes is all.  I like the linear, story driven plot of the Mass Effect games with a little sprinkling of romances and friendships.  I don't want to build a house and have kids and get married in ME.  It's just not my thing and I'd worry it could undermine the games.

Plenty of ppl think Citadel DLC went too far with the schmaltz, add marriage and you alienate all of them.

Well, it's just a discussion, so we're just talking about it. It's just an option after all, some people don't even participate in the romance, some ask for no sex scene. Well, if you're that much opposed to it then that's fine, too.

Maybe our protagonist will have to marry one of the natives of Andromeda to cement an alliance as well as consummate it.  :P

As for fascinating alien wedding ceremonies, one of my favorites:

Must also have bachelor/bachelorette party as well.

I liked how Worfs Bachelor party had motivated his friends into partisipating in the activities towards the end of the ritual. They seemed properly motivated to share the experience and return the favor.

Mortgage, child support, and alimony.

Personally I would prefer it if the subject of marriage is saved until the final instalment of ME:A, presuming there's going to be more than one. I mean, I don't mean to be *that guy*, but bringing up marriage with someone you've basically only met and during a critical mission to save the galaxy (or whatever you're saving this time)? Reminds me of that joke about U-Haul Lesbians.

Otherwise, after every other crisis has been averted and you're now the big hero? I'd personally like to marry the caca out of my love interest, lol.

How do you like the idea of actually tying the knot? It was actually a possibility in DAI. For some reasons, you can only get married as women. The guys kinda got the short end on that. I wanted to marry Cassandra, but alas, it didn't happen though. There was a big thread on marriage on the DA page before it releases. I think it influences the decision to include it as an option for female inquisitor in the game. It's just a suggestion, not a demand, of course. I just like the idea of marriage. I find it pretty romantic. In hindsight, maybe I should have played as a female Inquisitor since they get extra options and marriage.

With that being said, I'm preparing for a lot of ridicule posts now. Hopefully, some may post actual opinions. :P

I say as an option, why not?

I know a lot of people think "Eww, cooties!" but marriage is one possible result in falling in love with someone.

Agreed; again, it just works better in a trilogy, and sometimes a trilogy isn't even enough time to fully get to that point in the characters' relationship... I mean look at Star Wars; Leia and Han don't really solidify their romance until the final movie, and it's just basically them agreeing to be a couple. (Probably why I was so miffed with their "relationship" being a complete and utter DISASTER by the time we get to TFA; like, really?? We didn't get a wedding, newlyweds, happy parents, etc. you guys just jumped us to SAD AND ALONE??)

role play opportunities?

Why not add a dishwasher and a dirty bathroom to go along with it, for the amazing role-playing opportunities? Or a cluttered garage?

Sure, if someone wants to request that. Meanwhile, I request marriage to be added.

Nothing against anyone, but I would definitely prefer that Bioware not put resources towards a marriage feature.

Yeah...... This.

The thing is romance arc have different scenes, like how Josephine doesn't have a sex scene but a dueling scene instead. It would still be the same resources, maybe instead of one of the romantic scene, they have a wedding scene instead. DA2 has a chaste marriage with Sebastian afterall. It works on the same principle, I don't see how it would eat up anymore resources than any other romance scenes, still the same budget.

I don't think it would have to be a matter of putting any additional resources toward anything. I think BBM's idea could be implemented by simply having one or more romances culminating in marriage, instead of the typical lame BioWare sex scene. I tend to think it best if marriage were to be saved until the end of a multi-game stretch; but it could work, if MEA is long enough, and the pacing is right.

I have no horse in this race, as long as no inordinate resources are spent on romance arcs. They are nice little character development plot lines, but I don't get overly invested in them. I'd not want them to grow beyond their presently established level of importance to the games' plot lines.

Yep. This is what I was thinking. No need to use up anymore resources. It's just an alternate approach. Not every arc has to be: flirt-> flirt-> sex -> final mission. That's really very stale (and lame), at this point.

I don't think they should stay married during the game but they should get married towards the end, like a wrap up thing, an ending. Otherwise it's just a dating sim. But I'd very much like a good ending to their relationship or if SOME of the LIs proposed. Ofc not all will possibly have good endings depending on your choices but the options for one could be there.

I agree lol. I think it should depend on the LI's personality. I mean, some people want to get married and some people don't. You could propose before the final mission, and the character could say yes or no depending on your actions and whether or not they want to get married. As a happy ending you could see part of the marriage ceremony, but if the final mission goes wrong they could die and you could see your character crying instead, alone, as a final scene.

True story.

That's true, but it's a very illogical argument lol. It's like saying that the leading cause of death is life XD
