Would you want players to be able to choose hair like this for the female character or should it be more realistic and fit military regulations?
Long hair for female character?

Not only it breaks regulation, but there's also clipping issues, they have to account for various types of hair, it's ok for a single defined character to have flowy hair. It's just too much work in general. Their hair may be statics, and it would break immersion sometimes. I'd prefer not to.

I would like the option to have long hairstyles. They've done it for companion characters like Miranda and Ashley. I don't see any reason why they can't do the same for our own character.
However, I would prefer it if all of the hairstyles were "proper". Practical ones. Not ones that are fashionable for the sake of fashion. There still has to be logic behind the design choice.

Frankly, I'd like more modern-stylish short hairstyles. There are so many short and feminine hairstyles, I think it would be quite easy to use some of those to create some good styles even without having long hair.
Still, some good ponytails, or braids with bangs would be more than welcome.
But what I'd love is having coloured highlights and bangs.

I would hope that at least static characters or those with animation scripts preventing clipping does.
I never really paid it much mind that Shep could only have short hairstyles, it suits military themes, but I was always annoyed that every human female civilian in the game looked that way too.

It's a fictional game, but there are still logics behind certain elements. I don't get why people use fiction to justify having crazy idea. It's a fictional game, but the general similarities of the real world is still present. Humans are still humans, you are not gonna see male Shepard getting pregnant from Garrus something like that. Some people prefer to have a certain logical ground based on the real world. With that being said, the protagonist appearance is not canon, if they could spare resources, I don't care if it's in there or not. I just don't like it on military NPCs.

Well, there should definitely be some better hairstyles. Look at the modders. There is a lot of longer hair mods that are not clipping.
I just hope that we get more longer or longer looking hairstyles than we had in DAI. 3 longer looking hairstyles and 5 thousands short hair (most of them is just for male, not really for a female) was just too bad. Thank God we have modders ![]()
EDIT: Plus - if you wanna go that much role playing, u can always choose more military looking hairstyle. But there should be the choice for the player.

I think long hair is not an issue, but any soldier type female would not style her hair like those in the pictures. I'd prefer a more modest long hair style, that wouldn't dangle on air and block your view if you ran around and moved a lot.
Plus if you are on PC, it can easily be modded if you really want to.

Hm, lets aks the modders how "easy" it really was ![]()
But I agree with you in the point, that hair long till my butt would be too much
I mean more like hair till shoulder or a little bit longer, or smart done in a braid or bun or ponytail.

I'd love some longer hair styles - for both genders , even if most of my characters tend to be women - but I think it'd be sensible to allow characters to tie their longer hair up, into a bun or ponytail or whatever, in situations where having a lot of loose hair would be troublesome. So, while hanging around the ship, or some other area where combat's unlikely - basically anywhere where we're in our casual clothes - our character can have their hair hanging lose, but when you're in armour on a potentially hostile planet, station or whatever, it's tied up--even if just to help it fit neatly in those bubble helmets it looks like we'll be wearing.
Fallout already has a similar system, wherein longer hairstyles will automatically be tied up when you put on certain hats and helmets, so it's not like it hasn't been done before.
All that said, hair's never exactly been BioWare's forte, so... I dunno, I'll be happy if it just doesn't look like it's either made out of plastic, or held in place by enough hair spray to overwhelm the ship's air scrubbers.

Yes to long hair.
Who said we are soldiers in MEA? we are supposed to populate the species and find a new home so one partner only will probably not be allowed.

I wouldn't use long hairstyles (shoulder length max for me). For many reasons. That being said I'm not against having them in CC for those who want them. I just hope that they're not half assed. I would rather have 2 good options than 20 bad ones. And no. "Use mods" is not acceptable answer for me.

TERA has - or at least had while I was playing it - similar system. Though I suspect in case of that game it was to deal with potential clipping issues, since your hairstyle changed depending on your armor.

Personally I think having Ashley/Miranda type hairstyles we can get away with anything moer than that might be considered excessive though. I wouldn't mid it but if we got a couple of Miranda/Ashley type hairstyles I think that would be fine.

Would be nice to see some Tress FX style programming working on our hair as we play and whilst Bioware did make a step forward on this with cloth physics in DAI I wouldn't necessarily count on it but we can hope I suppose. Square Enix has done a great job with hair/cloth physics on both the Final Fantasy series and on the new Tomb Raiders as has CD projekt Red with the Witcher games based on what I've seen. So based on this it is possible and I would say it's definitely the next step imo after what they achieved with DAI but whether they do it is another question. I'd like to see it but whether it does is another story.
