that first one is pretty. I don't see why we have to make a big deal out of this?

And Mass relays and biotics are?
No but immersion is important, if they are not in the military, sure, other wise no tks.

Well from what we saw in the ME Universe the Alliance is a little more lenient when it comes to hair and tattoos. No but immersion is important, if they are not in the military, sure, other wise no tks.

There seems to be two side to the 'anti' long hair argument. Realism and technical.
We can throw realism out the window, I've yet to hear a good argument against long hair that is optional being so immersion breaking that it ruins the game.
Technical arguments are more on point.
Bioware has a bad track record with hair already and long hair is far less forgiving, so all the faults we find in the hair now will just be magnified. Then you have hair physics and the terrible knock on resource hogging. Short hair you can get away with reduced or no physics, long hair has to be done properly or you end up with lumps of cardboard hair flopping and clipping through everything.
People often point to all the great mods out there, but as creative as they are, they clip the hell out of everything and Bioware would rightfully be taken to task if they published with that sort of quality.
I guess my position is if you can't do it properly, don't do it at all. For me the compromise is more of the long but up and shoulder length styles, the lovely uncharted 4 images in this thread highlight both of those options well.

I'm gonna disregard everything you just said because I didn't read it and just forget about this.

Thanks for understanding. You are truly a remarkable fellow. You didn't read it. I've seen the error of my ways. It's just a video game. Modern day regs are irrelevant.

So you act like a like a pompous jerk to me and I'm the bad guy. If it's all they same to you I disregarded your post because it was irrelevant. The military regs we have today may not apply in the future let alone a video game. I meant no disrespect. If it sounded like I did my bad but I'm not apologizing. what gives you the right to judge who I am? Because I disagree with you. You don't even know me. You may think you do but you don't. And you say I'm thin skinned. Then what are you? Choose your words wisely next time. We don't need another killroy. I don't want to drag this out anymore than it has to be. You have a problem with me send me a message on your thoughts otherwise keep it out of this thread. We're done here. You're very thin-skinned for someone who wants to join the Marines. Only because they're in Afghanistan where beards are very common for adult men, and where the probability of an attack using chemical weapons us extremely low. It's not the norm, and standards are only relaxed there to allow special operations to blend in.
If war ever erupted along the Korean DMZ (hopefully it never will), those same teams wouldn't be allowed to wear beards. They aren't common in Korean culture and the risk of chemical weapons being used would be high. Beards prevent a getting a good seal with a gas mask, and having a bad seal on a gas mask during a chemical weapons attack, likely results in death.
I'm okay with Andromeda allowing short beards in the CC, particularly since we already know the Alliance allows them. (Joker)
Helmets covering the entire head would also eliminate the problem gas masks have of needing to be sealed to your face.
Modern special operations forces wearing beards in Afghanistan doesn't really work as an argument in favor of it being plausible for Andromeda however, because the circumstances there are unique to Afghanistan.
Good points Han, I mentioned the same earlier but the thing I'd like to ask is that, wouldn't they have better gas masks and seals in the ME universe than is available at present. It is the future after all and especially with the larger nature of conflicts that humanity has been facing as well as the importance of military and better gear, it's plausible to consider that they can have better gear in the future that shouldn't have the same problems with facial hair as the current gas masks.
Also like you said, in most cases with hostile breathing conditions and environments, shepard and most humans use a full face helmet which would make the current regs on the issue obsolete I think. (Not gonna consider those gas masks worn by liara, miranda etc that's just silly btw)

It's frostbite so we can't have a good hair here. Unless of course we are going to use mods. Oh wait... we can't because it's frostbite. ヽ(◉◡◔)ノ

Now ask yourself, how can modders do this? But the actual devs of the game can not? I really see a problem with that.
Its not that odd. You think there are good hairstyles in Skyrim? Nope. Mods add them. Its pretty much the same with almost all games.
Devs are not exactly following fashion.

Truthfully, there were some that I actually like in Skyrim, like the mohawk to say the least. But inquisition had none.

I think long hair as an option is an absolute must. Many militaries around the world do not require short hair, and the United States doesn't require it either for females although they must be able to put it up. I would like to think that by the time we are out cruising the stars that it is not a consideration. Our female astronauts have long hair, as an example. Regardless, if I'm going to be staring at a character for thousands and thousands of hours of my life, I don't want her to have short, clipped, ugly hair. I want my hero to be hot, not lesbianesque. And I definitely think that not having the option will affect sales across the board.
totally agree

You're right about mods doing that, but most of us have consoles, not PCs. And while the Xbox will be allowing mods, it will only be a few, and probably not the ones we want. This absolutely needs to be a design function within the game.

I'm all for great hair in MEA, but Ashley looked completely out of place. I wanted to order her into the restroom to was her face and tie back her hair. Poor Ash.
You have to be kidding. That was the best thing they did with her character, was to give her a modern hairstyle and soften her face with a little makeup. I've known girls in the Marine Corps that were just as hot and was similar hairstyles, although not quite as long. By the time we are flying to other galaxies, you would think that a person would be able to wear their hair however they want. Today's world would seem like barbarians living in caves to them.
