Maybe I like long hair because all the crappy hairdos in DAI weren't suffice for me? Or am I only one that noticed that all the hairdos for girls seemed.... Kind of bad. Really bad. All I want is some good hairstyles, lol, that I DON'T have to mod into my game.

Indeed I don't want to have to do it either tbh the hair is the only reason why I took the decision to do so in DAI. DFortunately I was able to figure out how. I wouldn' twant to go through it again on MEA especially as I've never been able to make any mods work on ME. My luck with mods is pretty hit and miss mostly miss. DAO and DAI are reaslly the only 2 occasions when I've succeeded.at it.

Hair is a very difficult thing to render, because it needs to move, especially when long.
And, on a practical note, hair flopping around is bad in a military setting. That's why military women pin it back or keep it short.

Perhaps but the tech is ther enow so there's no reason why Boiware can't or shouldn't use itespecially as a lot of other game companies now are. Also Biowaer have made a start with DAI by giving us some good cloth physics I think it's time that Boiware extend that to hair for MEA even if it's not done brilliantly at least give it a go. I think is what people are saying. They can try to perfect things in futuer installments as they learn to do more with the tech and fine tune it. Besides other EA studios have been using the tech I think it's only fair that Bioware get to play with it as well for their games. Time will tell though.

Bioware haven't actually given us good cloth physics though. They just tried to.
Also, I like that this thread went from hair to homosexuality to religion to pimping and back to hair while I was gone.

Well Elsa has fabulous hair and is gay, so it's a double whammy.

For male and female. And also being able to change hairstyles later in "babershops". Hair grows, hair gets cut, hair gets dye, hair gets a different style: hair changes, and so it would have t be in game.

I hate that there's always just the talk of female characters in the head line of those hair style threads. It's always the same. Please don't forget: there are many male characters too who wish long hair. I'm afraid that the devs receive a false impression when they look at the title and think it's a subject that only matters for female characters. I would be very sad if I start the character editor and see that they answered the desires of the fanbase but only for female characters.
Is it so hard to ask for long hair for female AND male characters?

Now DA:4 on the other hand....bring on the long hair for both genders.

Whether long hair options should be in the CC for male characters should depend on the main character's background. At this point it has been practically confirmed that Andromeda's main character is military, so long hair options just aren't worth the time and resources. Long hair would be at odds with Ryder's (?) background , so I'm not sure development resources are best spent on enabling players to make Fabio in the character creator.
Now DA:4 on the other hand....bring on the long hair for both genders.
Agreed. About the longest option I could see them providing for a male PC would be something like Snake's mullet from the MGS series.

So long as enemy combatants can use said hair to manhandle and murder the PC in close combat.
I'd be fine with long hair as long as it's restrained in a bun or under a helmet on duty (this is what I do with mine), but I suppose it's a minor gripe in a universe where you can choose to wear hot pink and lime green body armor into combat.

I'd like to have more choice, expecially aestetically appealing ones.

Sure, I'd like to see more good hair options for both male and female protagonists, including some hairstyles that are unique (i.e. not used for companions or NPCs).
But first I just want better looking hair: Modeling, textures, shading, animations, etc.

Quite frankly, since there is no more Alliance and govern from Earth, miltary may have changed and became more free with personal stuff like hair and all. Plus, since many are quite tired of the military background, having styles that defly militar blandness style can be a way to express rebellion. Like the violet hair of femShep in ME3.
I'd like to have more choice, expecially aestetically appealing ones.
I agree, we're talking about a game that takes place in the future. Things and rules can have changed so much.
Plus, there's no good reason why a woman is allowed to wear long hair in combat but a man isn't. As Quarian Master race said, it could be restrained in a bun while not on the ship.

Yes. I love making my male characters with long hair when I can. Maybe is my taste, maybe is simply that I like to subvert the usual thropes, but usually I like my female characters with short and more "agressive" hair, while the males with longer hairstyles.

What the ****?
She's a god-damned soldier (special forces, too!)!
Long hair (even if allowed) makes not a lick of sense in those circumstances (it's not practical at all and gets in the way often - NOTE: I am male and I do have long hair (longer than shoulder length!), but I would cut it way shorter if I had a dangerous job where my hair might get in the way or where I couldn't take care of said hair on a daily basis (long hair is much more in need of care - from brushing to washing it with conditioner etc.) which can't be guaranteed in the field after all!))
So nope, please -.- (note: In space it might also foul the seals on your space suit...sorry, but nice hair isn't worth suffering and dying from (explosive) decompression!)
greetings LAX

Well, you don't have to create him/her with long hair if you don't want to or if you feel it would make no sense in your playthrough. But please don't forget, people play for different reasons and some of us don't care if it's realistic or not. The Mass Effect universe is fiction after all.... And since it wouldn't be obligatory to choose long hair, it should be left to oneself. After all, you're not forced to play a character with long hair and I shouldn't be forced to play one with short hair.

No long hair because military. ...blah blah blah. So the fek what? It's an imaginary military in an imaginary setting in a videogame. Such a dumb reason to exclude the option because of IRL military blandness.
I want to be a badass space marine not some space hippy. Even if it were optional those hairstyles would still end up on npcs in the game. I don't want space hippies guarding the CIC. Long hair is fine in other settings like Dragon Age where it makes sense in a medieval fantasy setting.
Edit: Forgot that this thread was specfically referring to females and hair length, it's ok if females have slightly longer hair options but no longer than shoulder length. There should be no long hair options for males. And yes this is a military game.

Then don't create a "space hippie?" Easy. How does it make more sense in medieval fantasy and not in sci-fantasy? It doesn't.
There's hundreds of other military based games that exist with IRL regulations and settings. Let ME be ME.
