Hm... It's hard to judge at the moment. We saw so little of her in the comics that it's difficult to know her attitude about that sort of thing. I think Dorian had a decent combination of fashion mixed with practicality -- if you can call that leather contraption "practical" -- perhaps she will go that route.

As I said previously, I did really like the DAI method of the iconic follower appearance that could be slightly altered, but still maintain a "look." I'm hoping they do that again.

I think the fixed look of DAI is a truly brilliant approach. It gives the visual distinction of 2, mixed with the customisation of DAO. I would even like them to go further with it, since you could get pretty similar looks for some companions with specific armours. Not all of them have to be dramatically different from companion to companion, but they should stay distinct.

Any outfit will have to take into account the climate of the northern countries. Ferelden and Orlais are the coldest parts we visited, Tevinter seems close in climate to India, so heavy fur-lined plate armour will kill anyone in it before the battle even begins. I expect loose robes to be a pretty common sight.

If there wouldn't be issues with this, I wouldn't mind seeing Dorian try to do that with our PC and Mae. I think that would be adorable. Then again, I also want Mae to have some teasing remarks about Dorian and his guy (I'd imagine they would have met at some point), so... I just want all sorts of adorableness.

Yes, I'm also leery of the whole " 'forever alone' gay friend acting as romantic go-between" trope, but I think that is mitigated in this case if he already has a partner. Of course, that is not guaranteed in every play, or even a majority of plays, only those that import a Dorian romance, so the issue does still remain.

OR! If we have a male dwarf follower and optional LI, perhaps he and Mae will get together if the PC doesn't romance either one. That would be fun too, I think.

Ahaha... I've made fun use of that device as well.

The only thing I was never able to figure out was that leather panel on his right side... I've had to fudge over some of that in writing.

I would love the companions to date each other again. In DA2, ME3, and DAI it made them more dynamic, and alive. It was one of the innovative things DA2 introduced - they visit each other, change locations, build relationships. I'm still waiting for another copper marigolds mission ("It's not funny!" "I beg to differ.").

There was less of it in DAI, and I hope they expand on the idea (but not pair up everyone, mind you). Mae falling for an unromanced companion sounds great. And more teasing, please!

If you mean the rectangular thing, I always thought it's the perfect shape for a book, so I just assumed it's a sealed case for a Grimoire. Seeing as he doesn't have his own private secure storage in Skyhold (or it was just not shown), it makes sense he would carry it around. It seemed like a classic spell book design from RPGs.

I hope not. I hate the iconic look thing they've done lately. It leads to both you having to deal with them wearing armors you don't like and tends to mean there are less options for the protagonist. I would much rather they allow us to share armor designs among all characters again.

Oh, how so? We had at most half a dozen armor designs in the entire game for the Inquisitor, not counting the half dozen faction armors. And all of those were just minor variations of the same outfit.

And just because DAI had this issue doesn't mean the next game will

I see no evidence that it won't have this issue. And my main issue is that it leaves you stuck with what the companions are wearing. If you hate it, you can't change it and if you love it, you can't have it.

Except it hasn't been improved. The issues that were there then are still here now.

I like that in Fallout, you can wear any clothes, girls and guys can wear any type of clothes belong to each other, even unique clothes from Piper, MacCready, and femShep can be worn by anyone regardless of gender. There are enough variations going around that you can choose your own look.

I believe everything I write, unless indicated that I'm being sarcastic. So what was incorrect about my post?

I agree. But I think there should be three options. First is the character's iconic armor. Second is a hybrid between the character's look and the new piece of armor. Third is the new armor itself. So you can have the character wear his or her iconic look if the hybrid or the armor itself isn't to your liking.

Romance is not easy, and we are spoiled too much by titillation.

Not sure what this is in reference to? There actually isn't a lot of titillation in the DA games since we don't see very much sexual activity. Most of what we do see is reserved for after a couple comes together. From my observation, most of the romances have been about romance. Sure, people can play the game as if their character just wants to screw everything that moves, but the game and the NPC dialogue doesn't treat it very casually, with the exception of specific LIs.

Ah yes, I did forget about the differences in climate. They made advancements in DAI with the draping fabric, hopefully they will carry those forward for some warmer climate looks. Hah I'm reminded of my days in Miami. The moment it hits 60 degrees (15 C), people are like, "Break out the leather jackets!!"

The things on his belt are clearly grimoires -- two for his default look, such a nerd <3. I was referencing the actual panel of leather that is on his right side, anchored by the ties on his left shoulder.

I can't remember the last time we got to really enjoy 15C for a longer time. It's basically this weird 0C (32F) period that's not winter anymore, but feels like it, and then in a week it goes to 25 (80F). Summer needs to chill out a little *ba dum tss*

It's supposed to...tie everything together? <shrug> I'm more confused about the weird dog head shaped...thing. Looks like the top part of a pez dispenser :P

As far as new Tevinter characters go, we didn't learn much about Mae in the graphic novels.

All we know is that he's got a Vivienne sort of personality (but much nicer) and his fondness of dwarves.

On the other hand, Marius and Tessa had the privilege of getting a whole story focused on them. But of course, if Mae becomes a companion then we'll discover what he is all about.

Yeah he is reallly Vivienne/Isabella type who sleep with rich dwarf from Ambassadoria and become a member of Magisterium via him, and later dwarf husband was die..almost the same story as with Vivienne and her old noble, when she have everything via him

Not understand how he is hiding his true apperiance(blood magic?) for so long and was not punished as Krem in Imperial Army, and he have many enemies as Aurelian Titus people was know about him

Mae's situation is different from Krem's because of being a magister and the protection of Mae's father (who died due to Tevinter politics, but Mae was powerful enough by then to take revenge). It's still scandalous because Mae does not have an heir and Tevinter higher ups really care about bloodlines, similar to Dorian's situation.

Being nobility is no picnic in Thedas, especially when rivals can kill you at a party... without wholly disrupting the party...

That goes for you as well.

Don't care if you're deliberatly trying to troll people, stop it now.

And Mae is a woman, and recongised as a woman in Tevinter society.

If they are trolls, don't feed them. If not, then that is the way they wish to think and behave, you can voice your disapproval, but you can't stop them, you are not the thought police. Ignore them if they really bother you.

Since when is 'asking people to treat others with dignity' considered to be actions of the thought police?

titles in Magisterium can be losen easily as they hard to get

Maevaris have no heir and was officially a wife of a dwarf so there would not be a heir who can be a magister anyway, why he have a title after such, especiallly after dwarf was die so Mae should not have any connection with Ambasadoria

This is a huge question about Mae being a Magister and member of a Senat(and we do not know what Mae do for having such position), especially with this Mae opposition like Lucenri

Dorian was way too lucky to become a Magister via his father death, that was kinda mary sue
