So how does banter work now?

I recently restarted playing inquisition and was reminded that the first time I played back when it came out, there was this weird glitch that make party banter not trigger. I remember hearing about it being fixed, but banter still seems very inconsistent. Sometimes I will get two or three banters in a single outing and they can't be more than 15 minutes apart, but then sometimes I won't get any.

Surely by now there has been some kind of consensus as to how banter triggers. I would be very appreciative if someone could tell me how.

Hit and miss, for me more miss. one out of 10 games I might get decent banter, the rest of the time I'm lucky to get one banter per zone period.

I learnt about the 'every 15 minutes' thing late on in my first run. I started to run everywhere instead of being mounted (which pauses the 15 minute timer) and found that it did indeed trigger regularly.

I can't remember if moving to a different camp in the same zone resets it or not....but I started changing how I played a little. After some banter I'd take that as an opportunity to move somewhere else, and if it had been a while since there was any I'd hang around and do one more quest so the next one would trigger.

I got a lot more that way. It's ridiculous that I had to go to those lengths though, it's seriously borked if you ask me.

If you are on the PC - and having trouble getting banter to trigger - you can try out the Cheat Engine for Banter:

Some zones did get better (at least for me), and if you have the Jaws of Hakkon, that seems to be a great zone for triggering banter. The worst offender is the Western Approach. Very rare for actual banter to trigger. I will get area specific banter, or quest related banter in the zone, but no regular "banter". Hissing Wastes and Emprise du Lion, are in second place for trouble with talking while traveling. :lol:

If you are on the PC, I have known a handful of people who use the CE for banter, and it works quite well. But I admit, I have yet to use it myself. Most likely will, next PT.
