Just think: if they were willing to loosen up on the requirement that every female must please everyone and be considered universally beautiful, they'd sure save themselves an awful lot of work.

And they would still get people complaining about how they didn't portray women fairly. It's the unfortunate reality we live in.

As long as Bioware have this attitude about females characters are only made to be slept with (hence the bigger emphasis on sexual attractiveness) and not to be played as a hero, they wouldn't make it a priority to create realistic body modelling of a female fighter. Even the teaser have the 'unknown' female using the same female body type.

No, you think Bioware has this attitude. Stop projecting so much.

Mass Effect is already a game where an old women like Dr Chakwas have the breasts of a young girl. Where centuries old females only grew cup sizes as they age. Where a beautiful actress describes her in-game character with her head being attached to a "disproportionate" body. Where a generation of Asari Maiden prefers dancing in nightclubs while wearing cut out spandex outfits.

And do you not notice that they dedicate a lot of resources on the appearance of most of their female characters who have the highest probability to become fuckable to their heroes. Is that not vague enough?

But that is completely normal...even on real life. Life discriminates...The game reflects what we are. And normally the strongest, or the most beautiful are the ones who prevail..its life.

While Chakwas was a more prominent NPC than most, she wasn't utilized enough to have the extra resources dedicated to giving her a unique character model. Instead, they took her face morph and stuck it on the generic body they used for any other female NPC. Saves time and money.

Where centuries old females only grew cup sizes as they age.

You've lost me here. Are you talking about Asari Matriarchs?

This one doesn't ring a bell, but I'll take a look if you have a source.

Where a generation of Asari Maiden prefers dancing in nightclubs while wearing cut out spandex outfits.

I'll concede on this one. I may not agree with what you're implying here (that all of Bioware is sexist), but I can't refute this point.

And do you not notice that they dedicate a lot of resources on the appearance of most of their female characters who have the highest probability to become fuckable to their heroes.

Would you like to guess why they get a lot of resources? Because they're fully-fledged squad members. They are significantly more important than some random NPC walking around on the Citadel, so they get more time and money invested into them. Go figure that the most developed characters are also the most likely to become romance options, eh?

So from what I can tell, you consider the characters in these examples to be sex objects, and rather than accept your misogynistic view of them, you instead decide it must be Bioware's fault.

Haha just no. I don't hear you complaining about how joker had a ripped Shepard body, James having the biggest boobs in Milky Way and Jacobs knob. I'll give you the Asari as it felt cheesy as hell to have a race of alien "sexy" blue females and the Miranda butt zooms where just overdone.

I'd prefer a no romance, butt kicking commander over the overly flirtatious commander anyday. But it's catering to its main audience of forever alone virgos. Ultimately it's just entertainment, so don't get so flustered.

Miranda zooms were very well done in my opinion, no complains.

Spec Ops people aren't all jacked up either, actually. Some are of course, but certainly not all. You do need to be incredibly fit, but fit doesn't necessarily mean being built like a fullback.

Yeah, from personal experience most of the Green Berets I came across looked no difference from regular soldiers - from very short to tall...slim to thicker.  Encountered a few Delta guys in the day too, none of which stood out physically.

BTW: For the longest time I couldn't understand your new avatar...finally got around to seeing Force Awakens...Lol.

Well a non-muscular female might not be as strong but perhaps more agile?

And of course no matter what they can still have their wits...

She looked fine in ME1 and passable in ME2, but her arms were too long in ME3 (every female in the game had long noodle arms) and her hips were out of proportion. I could be wrong, but I think this is due to the fact that she had to match male Shepard in the animations. I'll never say that the devs were lazy because they do work hard, but it seems that too many corners were cut in her body frame.

I think they were running into hardware issues, for they removed an animation for holstering your weapon because of memory limitation in Mass Effect 3, so it might have been a reason beyond their control.

Agility is nice and all, but on a (somewhat realistic) battlefield strength and endurance are much more useful.

The archetype of the quick and agile rogue that manages to dodge everything and finishes the fight every time without a speck of dust on his or her

armor, fits fantasy or comic books more than a semi-realistic Sci-Fi scenario. (at least not when your enemies are armed with automatic railguns and explosives)

Even a character like Thane, that takes agility to the extreme, will be much less effective outside of a CQC situation.

Characters don't need to look like body builders, but some kind of an athletic look is rather expected for an N7.

I'm just questioning how agile you can really be with X amount of muscular mass... certainly at some point I imagine it would bog you down in a scrum.

Athletes can be fairly agile. An extreme example of strong muscles combined with agility are professional practitioners of certain eastern martial arts.

Their muscles may be compact, but they are strong and defined, and they have no trouble performing some rather outrageous feats of agility.

So it's one of those discussions again?

Sorry, but this (same as "Can the female character have a different walking animation this time") is far far down the list, there's more important things to tackle first, like not having a shitty ending, respecting player choices (Rachnii - enough said!) and giving us more branching paths (why would a renegade Sheppard go back to Earth if he/she knows they will just lock her up after Arrival-DLC? Why is there no "shoot Leng" interrupt (would a true soldier even hesitate in that situation, much less a special forces soldier?)? etc.), having characters that are as memorable as Wrex, Tali, Liara, Garrus etc. etc.

ps: A special forces soldier even if female shouldn't exactly look like a modell with make-up on (I am not saying that a female soldier can't be beautiful - they can, especially because they don't have all that stupid make-up and stuff like purses on them while on duty! I for one love women who are tomboyish and couldn't care less for fashion, shoes, purses etc.), sorry! Muscles? Sure!

Make sure the team has at least a handful of female team members who have a say about how females are portrayed and this shouldn't happen. Though, might just swing the argument to a completely different direction.  <_<

*snip*

Don't know who this is and what kind of competition she won at (maybe the picture is just at an angle or a stance that is not showing muscle, not sure),

but just do a google picture search for female MMA fighters, to get an idea on the kind of body build and power a professional female fighter needs to get to the top.

Keep in mind: Shepard is supposed to be at peak physical condition, and very good at fighting, including hand-to-hand combat.

Maybe a picture or reference might help?

Do you really need me to put a picture of Bruce Lee, Jet Li, or Jackie Chan?

All of them were / are actual practitioners of martial arts, with a rather impressive record that's completely separate from their films.

You can also easily find similar pictures of eastern martial arts practitioners that had nothing to do with films. (if you think that this is more realistic)

MMA fighters on the other hand, tend to be less "soft" (probably the wrong word here...) and agile and more powerful and muscular (a must do to the extremely vicious and brutal nature of their fighting style and opponents), but many of them are still very capable practitioners of various martial arts that demand at minimum very good agility.

i don t know for sure if is on kickboxing or Muay Thai but she has 5 world titles and 4 Europeans. That picture was taken for the weight certification to a international competition i think.

I have confirmed on youtube..she was world champion of Muay Thai and Kickboxing..yet  the photos on the video, some show muscles..some don`t

..i guess then, we can conclude that muscles ain t that necessary to show up for having credibility in a game

Good for her, but there are other relevant questions like weight class. Also was this some kind of internal competition for cops, or was this actual world championship?

Because that's what it looks like:

I imagine they do have women on the writing, design, and development teams.

That really doesn't actually stop people from complaining about how female characters are portrayed. If they're too feminine people will complain it's "not realistic and just done for sex appeal" while if they're not feminine enough people will complain that they "look too much like a man"(which is exactly what people said about Cassandra in Inquisition).

and there is no "right level of feminine that people wont complain at". Somebody will always consider it one or the other.
