these guys do seem to have some AI programmed into them, as I've noticed they'll always go for anyone with a barrier first, like it as it keeps you more alert.

The Qunari go for Mages and barriers first always.

Well, nothing new ^^ but I like it cause it makes sense, why would a rogue aim for an armored tank when there is some cloth to cut?

I really didn't expect all those rogues there when I cast the Chain Lightning. HunterK was playing up there for a while and I thought most everything were dead by now. I ran up there and saw 2 guys.. thought.. let me finish them off.. and then pop out like 7 rogues 
I think HunterK betrayed the inquisition and set up a trap!

Well, we still haven't established what Kipling is a hunter of. It could be people.
It could also be exceedingly good cakes (my money's here).
