OP, your ideas are terrible. And the fact that you call the worst of them "daring" and "groundbreaking" makes you unbearable. Just because an idea pops into your head doesn't mean you have to post it here.

I would say that the answer is to just keep Mass Effect a third person game and leave it at that. The game doesn't need a first person option.

Not every single thing needs to be an option in the game.

I agree, I think being everything to everyone is what lead to the major problems I had with Dragon Age: Inquisition for being a massive open world style game seems to be in conflict with a game that could be completed in 30 to 100 hours.  I don't want to see possible conflicts of interest in the game again because they wanted to please everyone instead of making a game that has a good flow.

How about we STFU about what the best thing to do when developing a game until we actually have EXPERIENCE in the field. I use medicine all the time but I don't feel qualified to tell a doctor how to do their job or what is the best thing. And given how FRAKING stupid some people are about vaccinations are with all the SCIENCE supporting the use of vaccinations. The populous at large isn't qualified this applied to game development as well.

I think it is perfectly clear that 99.9999% of gamers don't know sh!t about development and have this idea that what they like is best or it is best to give options and frankly that is BS. Options take money they take time and the more significant the option the more it takes from other areas of the game. How is this possible? Because gaming budgets are FINITE more money in one area DIRECTLY means less money for another. And I won't even get into the lunacy of how some gamers think their subjective opinion is objectively right so you should cater to them.

Maybe we should stop telling developers what the 'solution' is to their game and just let people QUALIFIED make them. If you don't like something then do the RESPONSIBLE thing and NOT buy it. I am a HUGE star wars fan but I refrained from buying Battlefront because I knew I would not like it based on reviews and friend comments. If you don't like third person shoots then DON'T buy them. Don't like 1st Person shooters? Then don't buy them. Stop trying to make ever fraking game cater to your tastes. Diversity in the market is healthy. Let games you don't like exist in the market place it gives us a choice. Exercise that choice by not buying.

On the off chance you're serious - the idea of switching views automatically is neither daring, nor groundbreaking. Predefined jumps were a thing probably since 3D made it's debut. The earliest example I can recall is Dungeon Keeper 2 (1999), where the top down camera went into FP mode, when you took control over a minion. Metal Gear, Deus Ex: HR, Fallout, Batman: AA all had certain moments when the camera view changed depending on an action. ME3 had FP view, when controlling the Atlas. Thief went to TP when climbing walls. In many games it works ok, even if it is a little jarring.

But doing it randomly? It's the same as unskillful switches between fixed location cameras - it's confusing and difficult to control. Your idea of doing it in an accidental fashion is just terrible game design.

To give this thread any substance:

Since MEA will probably use driving systems implemented by the NFS team, I'm wondering if there's going to be an option to switch views, while driving the Mako. Since it's already implemented in the engine, it's certainly a possibility, and would be a nice option to have.

This is a much forgotten point - Bioware inserted a bit of FPV when they thought it appropriate to use it... and I thought it was well used there.  Bioware may have some similar plans for ME:A and I think it is best left up to them to decide if and when they change camera views.  I agree with Gothfather (post just above this).  It is and should be the developer's choice.

I notice a sord of coldness and lack of gentlesness in this forum...I have hardly seen any kind words...if you play the game to save humanity, well,  at least be kind with whoever post whatever.

So you would rather prefer false kindness and lies how much is your bad idea great?

Really, if you want publish ideas in videogame forum you have to be prepare that you can be only one who consider this groundbreaking idea good.

I dont pretend anything, kindness has nothing to do with agreeing or not about an idea, is a question of being kind whatever is the medium, why we should not be kind to each other in every situations?...I have been taught to be in this way. or we have to be rude just because everyone around is?

I accept critics when are constructive, I actually like them.

Cheers!

No you don't. Your response to critique is always insinuation that anyone who disagrees with you is ignorant and shortsighted.

Well, that does exist in Battleborn. However it's primarily a FPS. The change to TPS only occurs when some heroes activate one of the powers with area affect where you need TPV to aim it properly, like dragon splash for El Dragon, and Hedronic eruption for Attikus. This is pure gameplay mechanism, it has a sense, and the player controls it. A forced switch of point of view without either valid gameplay or narrative reason is senseless and overall bad directing.

Oh, it's not that people are being rude because everyone else is. It's just that they really, really hate your ideas.

Fair point.

I don't like first-person games at all, but I know there are a lot out there who do, so for the sake of argument, if first-person had to be part of the conversation at Bioware, I think it would be important for them to remember not to throw the baby out with the bath water, as the saying goes, and keep it third person with the option, rather than deciding to switch things up wholesale and alienate all the fans that made ME what it is.

And it's not like BW hasn't ever considered first-person for ME, the MP game that became ME3MP started out as a Halo-esque FPS.

I have almost zero faith in BW to make good decisions at this point, so I'm just hoping that if they are thinking about it, they aren't thinking, "hey, you know changing things up would be really exciting. Lots of speculation from everyone!"

I honestly wouldn't put it past them.
