Above all the frustrating spells that exist in all of D&D (even worse than hold person in IceWind Dale) is how some weakling paladins from Kelemvor's domain are able to dispel all magic on Safiya, her being level 30, having spell resistance 35, having protection from spells, empowered spell mantle. In IceWind Dale my company had no superior saves or special abilities to resist charms, but here in NWN 2 i have everything and that is why this is BS!

This must be some bug, if not this is an extreme example of disbalance.

I don't know if the way NWN2 does it is the same as in the pen & paper rules, but according to the latter, Dispel Magic rolls against the spell itself (a flat DC11 + the level of the one who cast it), not the person who has the spell on them.  Thus there is no resistance or saving throw against Dispel Magic.

You're right. This is a known bug. If you check nwn2 wiki, you can get a more detailed explanation about this bug.

Apparently the spell doesn't actually check the caster's level but rather character level. This is especially bad for high level gameplay like MotB when everyone has added monster levels to their character sheet and the difference between caster levels can be wide. More, under certain circumstances, the game doesn't even check your own caster level, thus the dispel (when cast by hostile creatures) will always win no matter the odds. Even a lowly githyanki can strip all of level 30 Safiya's spells...it really is that bad.

And it is exceptionally bad for campaign like MotB that discourages you to rest and re-apply your buffs every few encounters.

My suggestion; beware and put extra care for any creatures/npcs that can dispel, however weak/insignificant it's supposed to be.

It's not precisely supposed to check your caster level when an enemy is casting Dispel on you.  It's supposed to check the caster level of whoever or whatever cast the buff that's being dispelled.  For instance, if Gann cast a buff on Safiya, it should check Gann's CL, not Safiya's.  And if it was cast from a scroll or wand, then it should use whatever CL that object had, not the person who used the object.

Yeah that's what I meant. The spell's caster's caster-level. But it doesn't check this either.

I see.  I agree that's a bug, then.

AFAIK, the caster DOES use the caster level; only the "defender" uses the character level. So the formula is (as it actually works, not as it's supposed to):

1d20 + caster level (capped at 5/10/15 depending on which version of dispel is being cast) VS 11 + character level

So you become immune to the different dispels at character level 15, 20 and 25. Mordenainen's disjunction has no cap, though. Things like saving throws, spell resistance or mantles are not supposed to guard you from dispels, so no bug there.
